The reason they just stand there is because it's their defense mechanism: camouflage. The moment they move, they have to find a hole or outrun their foe. The fact that we didn't hear a more high-pitched bloodcurdling scream from the rabbit is more shocking to me.

@Zero2267 If it had attacked the rabbit straight away, the rabbit might try to defend itself and shake the stoat off, injure it or kill it. Rabbits can easily kill small animals if they can manage to claw them with their strong hind legs. The rabbit was weary when the stoat attacked, so it couldn't do much to fight back.

As for the other rabbits, they don't have much to gain from attacking the stoat (who will just run away and come back later for the corpse), and a lot to lose.
