I think very few people understand Japanese culture, especially people in the United States, showing virtue, respect and most of all serenity... something americans are not famed for and indeed promote the opposite of most of the time (it's considered a good aspect for most people in say boxing, football, baseball to be able to talk shit/smack).

I think that is sad, ofcourse Japanese should respect their "culture" the same way, but the Japanese culture is just amazing from every perspective.

Bobby is a whiner and wouldn't have gotten shocked if he wasn't slopping his cooking station up like a rutting pig. He was likely happy to have an excuse at hand for when he lost; I've yet to see him lose ANY competition on any show without making up childish excuses for why he had lost. With him as an American Chef and Phil Hellmuth as an American Poker Player I cringe to think that our country is accurately represented.

At first it might appear invigorating, but the public cheers rapidly turn out to be a nightmare for the chefs, especially Morimoto who doesn't have the habit to show off his talent before that many people.

flay probably wasn't made aware that iron chef DID NOT set everything up and that the zagat's and food network set it up with modern equipment. He probably would of yelled at them both if his job on the food network and reputation as a cook in new york wasn't on the line if he complained to them, so he complained about iron chef instead :/

I think its interesting that Flay blames the Iron Chef show for loosing due to poor equipment. This clip clearly shows they had nothing to do with the equipment as the announcer clearly stated that "Normally we use gas grills". If anyone was at fault it was the Zagats or Food Network, whoever set up the match/stage.

I love how most Iron Chef fans hate Flay so much that make up excuses (even there's no proof) as to why he wins over Morimoto and Sakai. IE. "They let him win" or "It was rigged". Lol. A win is a win. Guess Flay is so "untalented" that he was able to beat Morimoto and "King of Iron Chefs" Sakai. All Flay does is win on Iron Chef and Iron Chef America. I don't think you know about cooking either because you judge cooking based on looks, whether you like the chef, and not on taste.

Taste is the most important part of cooking, not how the food looks, not what you see the chef doing on tv, their skills, or whether you like the chef's personality.

Taste decides food flavor, texture & skills.

Do you realize that taste is the most important part of cooking & trumps presentation & whether you like the chef or not? Perhaps not...

alright, i personally think flay overuses ingredients especially peppers and chillies...YES its his southern style but its boring...we watch this thing on tv so creativity and skills really count, you can argue abt taste all day but you will never know what the above food tastes like..so stop talking like ure one of them judges and start realizing that youre just a viewer with a good knowledge of cooking

I think all the chefs on both IC Japan and IC America are talented with each their own unique styles.

You can watch skills all you want, the way to decide if they were actually skilled is by tasting the final product.

You will never know what the above food tastes like either so stop judging based on what you see as a tv viewer as well.

Been to Flay's restuarants in Las Vegas. Food was great.

If you don't like Iron Chef America, then don't watch!

You can change the channel.

Do you know there's this thing called taste regardless of presentation?

Currently work in a kitchen. Customers care about taste the most & not presentation. Presentation doesn't matter if food tastes bad. That's what they remember mostly.

The customer can decide food flavor through taste & how skilled the chef was in making it taste good.

Through taste, the customer can decide food texture. It's by texture that the customer decides if its cooked well, undercooked, or overcooked.

Presentation still depends on the situation, the type of restaurant, your expectations of the restaurant. Presentation doesn't really apply when you're eating at home.

I still think you taste with taste buds. Something still could smell bad but end up taste good, like stinky tofu. I don't really eat & taste with my eyes, my hearing, & my touch, but I'll give it a try over my taste buds to see if it works.

No wonder Bobby got shocked: the extension cords were sitting in puddles of water. That was very poor planning by the stage techs who did the set-up.
