Dan, lovely job, and a pretty quick tempo for this piece. I'm curious to know how you got that lovely string-like tone from the Etherwave. They usually sound more brassy to me.
Very nice playing, and very lovely & appropriate tone quality - very "period" sounding, as coming from a grammophone. Wish more thereminists would LISTEN to the timbre coming from their instruments -- and your playing dismisses the falsehood that you can't get a good sound from an Etherwave. Good job!
Thanks alot! I started learning this one in the 'normal' timbre that I usually use, but it just didn't sound right. I also wonder how much of the grammophone sound can be attributed to my camera's built in mic.
Well, if that is the case, then you need to bring your camera with you on your gigs and play your theremin through it, haha! This really is a haunting, eerie yet beautiful sound - "a violin record being played on a grammphone" really is what came to mind.
All the better! My first live performance is this Thursday, and I was going to bring my laptop to record into, but then I found out that I will only have 5 minutes setup before I go on (in between acts). I've decided to ditch the laptop. I'll have the theremin warming up on a car battery jump starter beforehand. :)
Fantastic!!! That's a thoroughly professional-sounding performance of this iconic piece, with the theremin sounding both violin-like and voice-like. (Personally, I've been avoiding even trying this particular piece, as I don't feel anywhere near enough ready for it!)
As there hadn't been anything new from you for a while, I'd been wondering what you were busy practicing.
Best wishes for your live performance. To manage that within 11 months of getting your theremin is a HUGE acheivement!!!
excellent! How did you achive such a warm timbre from etherwave standart?
