Best trap idea ever:All you need is an door/stone presure plate/redstone/TNT.All you do is put the presure plate next to the door so people will think that how you open the door and then connect the presure plate to the TNT that will be in a hole made to make the tnt drop down to the person and then KA BOOM!!! person dead when they step on the presure plate >:D.Did it once on a server I OWNED EVERONE!!!!BTW if you want the person to really die you can...

2. Flymod is disabled on most servers, only admins can use it etc.

3. /spawn /home is a plugin which isn't installed by default.

One problem is that the trapped player would still be "in" the chest GUI after they fell, allowing them to raid your items anyways, since if you're in a GUI and fall, it doesn't exit the GUI.

Does anyone know how to make sand? Apparently by having a block of sand above a piston(so it falls then gets moved) and then have a gap underneath with a torch so the sand breaks as it falls, I've seen it done once but can't quite remember how they did it

This is nice and all, but quite a lot of work for a trap that is quite obvious, doesn't always work (as it is possible to stop mining right as you destroy the dirt block, albeit difficult) and might not even kill the theif (if you drop in on lava, the sand could clog it up for you, and a bigger drop would be even more work). If you really want to catch theives, rig TNT with pressure plates near it, on a surface with the same texture. Not foolproof, but much easier.
