Wow that's pretty sad for all the firefighters to go down like that. I would get everybody from kight township to meet her in prison all at once and them just line up and take turns slapping her
Thank you, Knight Township. I only wish I had been able to work with you for longer. I was honored to be your dispatcher on this somber night. Take care, everyone...
I come from a small town where im a Vol fire fighter i would hate to see my Fire Dept close this way its a great video pays great repsect to the guys on KTFD i hope one day this company is able to REOPEN and if they do i think i would make a trip just to see there FD real tear jerker if you ask me STAND TALL KNIGHT TOWNSHIP dont forget the brother hood and the family at the FD GOD BLESS AND GODS SPEED
Former Knight Township Trustee, Linda Durham, was sentenced to 2 years in prison today (1-27-11) after pleading guilty last month to charges of theft and official misconduct. She was accused of using the office's credit card to purchase personal items such as food, concert tickets and even New Kids on the Block underwear... via Fox7 WTVW.
Absolutely tremendous show of respect, professionalism, and support. As a fellow Volunteer, this video brought tears to my eyes. However, I can tell that you, Knight Township Volunteer Fire Department, were beloved within your community and trusted by those you protected. You clearly set the bar of service high within your area, and with that, no one can ask for any more. Stand tall, Knight Township, for your deeds bespeak your honor. God Bless to you all.
This is a good video but i dont like to see it this way and this person should be put in jail for a long time for what they done cause being on the fire dept my self i would just be torn up. So you guys have my blessings and you guys did alot for that town. And i hope that they get whats coming to them.
I don't know how they kept it together while the last chief officer made his last out of service call with the speech he made was AWESOME. I love the part where he said, " Its a scheduled execution, there's no other way to explain it !' I could have NOT gave that speech.... THANK YOU KNIGHT FIRE DEPARTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate seeing videos like this. Its happening ALOT in smaller towns with volunteer and part paid departments cause of misuse, misappropriated funds, stolen or just plain broke towns. We have lost our local department in cleves, ohio also so I feel for these guys doing there last out of service and knowing that they won't have this family any more. Its all most like doing a last call for a fallen brother or sister for an lodd........ I honestly do not know how theses guys kept it together....

Im a firefighter myself and it was hard watchin this video. Politics and funds shouldn cause a fire department to shut down. Atleast make the people of the township pay fire fee's, I mean its a thought. Good luck to all the brothers and sisters of this fire department and of the fire service.
i have worked with a few guys from Knight Township at the Evansville tornado and they also came to Bicknell Indiana to help us sandbag during the 2008 flood it is sad that one hell of a department had to go out of service
No town should let their Fire Department shut down due to lack of funds. I dont care what you need to cut but its not a Fire Department nor a Police Department. If they didnt get enough money for the fire department then you find a way. I cant believe the Knight Township let this happen to the Fire Department. Its not the neighboring depts to tale over the coverage.. I might be missing some information but I dont see that this is right in anyones book. Just uncalled for.
Fortunatly the city of Evansville, which is the main city in Vanderburgh County, is taking over duties for Knight Township. I have a link to the story behind why they have to go out of service but YouTube will not allow me to post it.
As a fellow volunteer firefighter, it upsets me to see a fire department close. Watching this video was very depressing and brought tears to my eyes. Knight Fire Department and all of its members will never be forgotten. You have helped many people and everyone appreciates it. Im sorry to see you go. Everyone be well, take care, and never forget all the times you shared together. We will never forget you or your acts of heroism. Thank you for your service.
@FFWilliam1 They had to shut down due to lack of funds because the woman that was in charge of the Knight Township trustees embezzeled $78,000 of public funds to pay her bills and buy stuff for her and her family.
I hate to see a good department go out of service. Knight Township Fire you will be missed by your community and friends. Thanks for your service from TN.
I watched this tonight with a great deal of pain in my heart for you guys (and gals). For a firefighter not to be able to respond, or to be able do what we do is one of the most hurtful things we could have happen. I've done, and seen alot in my years, but when I see this, I just can't understand why this type of this has to happen. KTFD firefighters, officers and staff, bless you for your time and sacrifice in service. Know that you will be respected always. Stand tall, take care.
This is a terrible thing to see, I am a volunteer fireman in New York and can't image my dept or surround dept not being there. But my wife and I were watching this video and she is crying her eyes out and I got a little choked up watching it myself.
Knight TWP VFD.Thank you for ya'lls service to your community..Remember that each and every one of yall will always be a part of the Firefighter brotherhood and will not be forgotten, you served your community well and will always be remembered that yall were there to answer the call,no matter what.Great job everyone..
Thank you, Knight Township Fire Department, for protecting me and the other folks in Knight Township. Your legacy will live on. Stand proud. Good work, faithful and loyal servants of others. Godspeed.
Thank you to all of Knight Twp Fire Dept for all the sacrifice you gave every day. You gave during some horrific times and this is truly a great loss. You will be missed within our community. My heart breaks watching this video since it did not have to be. But the actions of 1 is responsible for this pain to our community. I wish each of you well in where life takes you. Somehow I know you will always be "answering the call". God bless KTFD...forever in our hearts.
On behalf of the Rockport-Ohio Twp. Fire Department, we would like to thank you for your service and support to your community. Sad situation that you had to go through, but keep your heads held high. You've done one hell of a job for the residents on Knight Township and they are very proud of you. Brother First, Duty Always. God Bless.
Serving a as fire fighter for Knight Township Fire was a great honor and an amazing time working with the guys on Knight Township....things will never be the same going to another department with out the guys....Thank you for letting me serve as a Knight township fire fighter
@Sidney33 That is terrible. Could the federal govt help out? I guess i don't understand the township and how its funded. But to have the fate of essential services cut because of one person seems very very extreme
From Henderson county reed 220 just want to say good job guys for all u do for ur town got family and friend that live over there and I new they were safe with u guy there think u
The words of the members of Knight Township Fire were very well spoken. On behalf of Black Township Fire and Rescue we say farewell to you. Knight Township will always live in our minds and hearts as one of the toughest departments in Southwestern Indiana.
As a member of German Township, my heart goes out to all Knight Township FF's. You served with honor and pride, we will miss you all! Keep your heads up, you all went out heroes!!
A great group of people who volunteered for their community! THANK you knight township fire department for your years of service. Good luck to you all!
I've lived in Knight Township for 11 years and have watched these guys respond to a tremendous amount of calls in and around my neighborhood. Knight was also some of the first responders at Eastbrook mobile home park after a horrible tornado ripped through on November 6th, 2005. Knight, you always responded like heroes called to duty. Knight Township Fire Department, THANK YOU! You will be missed.

Google search: "knight township" trustee money durham.
You will find an article describing how this "lady" single-handedly ran this department into the ground.
