Yes, that's different from the dome, they call it 'old pole' and is now buried under several feet of snow. You're not supposed to walk out there as there's the chance you might fall down into it, break a leg or some such.

I believe that the Dome is going to be taken down, shipped north and reassembled in a museum-like setting somewhere. Or so was the rumor I heard.
So it's not so much in a state of disrepair as it is just in the process of finished its time at the south pole.
