Yeah, Ken Akamatsu also wrote an even earlier oneback in about '93 or '94 called "A.I. Love You" about a guy who's obsessed with computers and ends up having his AI creations come to life as real human girls with computer abilities. Very good. Unfortunately, to my knowledge it was only ever released as a manga and never had a anime of it produced.
