its not china, germany or USA thats going to create the future of aviation..it will be Japan. as with cars now, japanese cars have exceeded european cars in overall quality. sure, there's some toyota recalls, but overall, they are still the best. lexus, acura, infiniti.
have you seen the honda jet? where does remos aircraft even come compared to it? and GARMIN a company founded by GARy burrell and MIN kao (GAR-MIN) is the future of aviation...asians are cool so no racism please.
i agree. cessna is an American icon just like Chevrolet corvette. to think of a Cessna made in china. it is disturbing.
and at over 100K the sky-catcher aint cheap. i think the little 152 is still more economical, since flight schools dont have to pay over 100,000 for one
Having given the LSA thing a serious look, I confess that I am not pleased. The Skycatcher in particular has a number of issues that I find unpleasant and even disturbing. HOWEVER, I must give Cessna some credit for deciding to use a real airplane engine in this aircraft.
For Cessna's sake, I just hope that getting swept up in this LSA nonsense doesn't cause harm to the otherwise good reputation of this company.
It may seem that way, however, there are other factors on how safe the plane is: The quality of the pilot, and quality maintenance. When in QUALIFIED hands and in PROPER condition, any old airplane is as SAFE as a new one.
Better performance, Excellent Panel with teh G-300 system, Far better fuel Economy, a NEW O200D engine, gee I dunno, I love the one filthy, but hey, times they is a changing. Personaly I am gonna go with a CTLS, because of the built in balistic chute, but to each their own.
Since this thing is being built in China, it probably costs more for shipping than manufacturing, Sorry, but the "Made in China" label strongly outweighs the Cessna brand name they stick on it.

Is the panel symmetrical? It looks like it isn't. Is it possible to order a Skycatcher with a symmetrical panel? Just take a closer look at the panel when it shows in the video.
The A/C is being assembled in China. Do a modicum of research. There is plenty of available info out there.
Its all about the money. Cessna can get the A/C made cheaper (the base word being "cheap") in China. But the price remains slightly higher than other LSAs. So where's that cost savings going ? Probably into retooling since the test A/C has crashed twice now.
im going to get one for my b'day in two weeks

They should make a tail dragger and make an aerobatic version.

I can buy a low hour IFR PA-28 for less.

ehhhhhhh. im more of a 172 guy

The real question with these LSA's is can you fly instruments with them. Without being IFR qualified it seems kind of a waste for a flight school.
I do like they used the Lycoming O-200 on this airplane instead of that rotex. Nice 2400 hour TBO.
The china thing is disappointing.
Have you checked out the CTLS by Flight Design, very nice.

Also disappointing to me is the complete lack of styling on the cowl with its vestigial-looking pair of nostrils.

similar aircraft Remos G3 made in germany cost exactly as the skycatcher
is germal labor rate=communist chinese labor rate?

Why bother with a 110, 000 dollar 162 when you can by a 152 for 15-30,000?
It don't make no sense :P

How do they sell airplanes at that price, they must only make like four a year. 110,000 dollars affordable huh? 10,000 more and I can buy a DC-3.

Remos G3 made in Germany same price as chinese made skycatcher
so the labor rate in china is now same as in germany ?
emforty2 2 years ago
Only some parts are made in China. But being made there it makes the aircraft cheaper to buy.
