Olive works at the pie shop, and Emerson is a PI who uses Ned's gift to solve murders.

In each episode Ned touches a dead person, questions them for a minute, and touches them again. Then they solve the murder and get the reward.

Ned can't ever touch Chuck or Digby, can't eat his own pies, and has to be careful when touching anything that was once alive. Don't go in the Natural History museum, Ned! He also has to keep his superpowers secret from Olive and others, and deal with the guilt of ha

Ned is a pie maker with the power to bring dead things back to life by touching them once, but if he ever touches them again they go back to being dead forever. If he leaves them alive for more than one minute then something else nearby has to die (animal for animal, plant for plant, person for person).

He has kept two formerly dead beings alive: Digby the dog and Chuck (Charlotte) his childhood sweetheart.

Our only glimmer of hope is that it's progenitor "Dead Like Me" got a movie treatment. It was straight to DVD alas, but actually pretty good.
