Many DO work for money. The payment they receive is pretty much a cent per day or worse. American companies have been killing people in America since the 1950s. Even today it's still considered dangerous to be in a labor union in South America (because how DARE these people fight for better payments). This is the true face of Capitalism. It doesn't matter how much people have to work, the only thing that matters is the Big Man to live wealthy and comfortably at the expense of the working class.
Both sides are to blame. Corruption is unfortunately very big in Latin America. That doesn't take away the companies' directors, C.E.O.s or whoever runs them. However, many politicians are honest people. Problem is, if they dare speak against these barbaric acts they (or even worse, their whole families) might get shot by militaries, paramilitaries, secret polices or any other government agencies (public or not), since these companies represent some economic growth for the country (or the prez).

However, Latin America has suffered a lot through the ages (specialy in these post-dictatorship times, where it's trying to put shit back in order), which is the reason many have a philosophy of "I'd rather vote for someone who will keep this shit going on than vote for someone who'll de-stabilize the country into chaos" Many also know the current political parties (mainly the bigger ones) are bullshit, but either complain and do nothing or have faith in the smaller parties.
In short, they don't want to do anything because they know it'll bring more suffering, and the smaller parties (that are the main hope for stopping corruption) are shit compared to the bigger parties, so they have to join in coallitions to survive or get disbanded. Prime example was the P.S.D. in Mexico. It didn't align to the bigger parties and as a result had to be disbanded because it didn't win 1% of the votes.

Socialist countries remove the incentive for profit and as a result end up producing relatively little new technology compared with the US. Many DO work for money. The payment they receive is pretty much a cent per day or worse. American companies have been killing people in America since the 1950s. Even today it's still considered dangerous to be in a labor union in South America (because how DARE these people fight for better payments). This is the true face of Capitalism. It doesn't matter how much people have to work, the only thing that matters is the Big Man to live wealthy and comfortably at the expense of the working class.

Both sides are to blame. Corruption is unfortunately very big in Latin America. That doesn't take away the companies' directors, C.E.O.s or whoever runs them. However, many politicians are honest people. Problem is, if they dare speak against these barbaric acts they (or even worse, their whole families) might get shot by militaries, paramilitaries, secret polices or any other government agencies (public or not), since these companies represent some economic growth for the country (or the prez).

However, Latin America has suffered a lot through the ages (specialy in these post-dictatorship times, where it's trying to put shit back in order), which is the reason many have a philosophy of "I'd rather vote for someone who will keep this shit going on than vote for someone who'll de-stabilize the country into chaos" Many also know the current political parties (mainly the bigger ones) are bullshit, but either complain and do nothing or have faith in the smaller parties.

In short, they don't want to do anything because they know it'll bring more suffering, and the smaller parties (that are the main hope for stopping corruption) are shit compared to the bigger parties, so they have to join in coallitions to survive or get disbanded. Prime example was the P.S.D. in Mexico. It didn't align to the bigger parties and as a result had to be disbanded because it didn't win 1% of the votes.

Because the countries that BUY it are the more powerful ones The ones who sell it are screwed. This is why Saudi Arabia or Iran haven't been superpowers because they sell oil. The USA is a superpower because (among other things) it buys oil. Actually, capitalism is also the enemy. If a CEO wants the production of his product to increase at least 0.1%, it'll mean extra hours of work for everyone

Also, I'd appreciate if you were to explain to me how our free market system comes into play, in regards to medical research. So far as I'm aware, it's the universities, alongside a few biotech companies, that are doing all of the work. The health insurance industry has very little to do with it.

Socialist countries remove the incentive for profit and as a result end up producing relatively little new technology compared with the US. @Kallosar the united states has the best health care system in the world. the problems we do have, however, do not come from the free market aspect of our system, but the socialized/government influenced parts of the system. our tax code and inability to purchase insurance over state lines results in lack of competition and high prices, not to mention the massive unfunded liability of medicare/medicaid. we are the world leaders in medical advances and technology, thanks to free market principals

Hey Mattsonh. I don't mind a black man being President. I just don't want a socialist/marxist. And a lot of people voted for Obama because hi was black, knowing nothing about his ideals. @Kallosar just because you have a right to something does not mean that it will be provided to you. cuba and south africa by law, declare housing a basic right yet they have a massive homeless population. without incentives (aka the profit motive) nothing gets done. unless of course you enslave your country and force them to harvest sugar cane for 16 hours a day for no return like cuba did. even then they didnt meet their goal. social has failed every time its been implemented.
