Actually antoninpb, the Oscars are seriously protected by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, some people have tried to make similar Oscar statuettes and have been slapped with a lawsuit from the Academy, so, it is risky to try to make Oscars without their permission wich they flatly deny when asked.

Actually, no one, including the workers, knows who the winners are until the envelopes are opened on March 7th. The name plates are added after the fact. Each winner on stage receives an Oscar with no name, just a special serial number.

WOW! that's so awesome! So much detail goes into these. I used to argue with people over whether or not the Oscars were made of real gold. I was HALF right. It is gold, but it's not solid gold as I originally thought.
