John Fogerty wrote a great song and recorded a killer version. Status Quo covered it brilliantly and used it to open Live Aid. What song could possibly have been better to kick off that event? We are doubly blessed. And it's way past time for Live Aid 2. The need is still there.
I love John Fogerty and his voice is so beautiful. T o me, his version has more heart and is better that status quo. CCR are my best group ever and when john went on his own, he took his magic with him :)
The fact that this video has just over 100 000 views, while Status Quo version has over 2 million, is proof that Status Quo are commercial rock'n'roll. And from my point of view that sucks big time.
@Sunchild333 Nobody likes commercial music, but Status Quo arent making crappy pop music or hip hop. This situation is the same as Carole King, because she wrote lots of songs that became hits for other artists and not many people read the songwriting credits to realize she wrote those hits!
@hectorsalinasisback You have your point but to me commercial rock is only 1% better than other commercial crap. The biggest reason why people don't have a clue about credits is probably the fact that nobody buys albums these days...they just download what they hear on the radio.
I have been listening to Status Quo and have become a fan, they play real fun rock and roll, I cant pick a favorite for rockin all over the world, but I thank the Quo lovers for turning me on to a great band.
Well, bikerdude990; I can't agree that Status Quo's gopping version of this great Fogerty song is 'heavier' in any way. This is the way it was written to sound. Unfortunately most people think that Status Quo wrote it. Fogerty is simply one of the best true rockers ever to stand up with a guitar in front of a crowd. It's great that he's back and sounding as good as ever.
This could have been a HUGE hit for Fogerty, but he refused to tour, do TV appearances or any radio/press interviews to support it or the album. The critics loved this song but the public hardly heard it. It did make the Billboard Top 40, though.
OH MY GOD. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS GREAT VIDEO.
Thank you so much for your very wonderful channel. I saw immediately that you've done so much work. Especially thanks about your very nice videos from John Fogerty. John is unique and for me he`s one of my most favorites singers. I love him and therefore I`m always happy if I find new videos. Again, thank you for your very beautiful channel and lovely regards. Nice that you exist. God bless you and I hope you have a wonderful and nice time.
I don't really care what you think. Any of you americans. Yes, John wrote the song but have you ever been to a Status Quo concert? Well, I've seen both acts live and I can quite easily say that Status Quo's version really rocks a million times more than this does.
I know that 'Rockin all over' is one of the best rock anthems ever, but bloody hell how good is 'Dream Song'? It really tugs at your heart (especially in the 'Dixieland' verse) - J.F certainly has a way of capturing emotion in the simplest of songs.
It's a gem of a song and I knew the song well before the Quo version. I was a Quo fan at the time and I wasn't overly impressed with their version then but have simply grown to love both versions.
Everyone seems to have their own opinions on songs . And even though I prefer
this the original version of this song over Status Quo's cover. I personally think
that another song that John Fogerty recorded during his solo career. "Almost Saturday Night". was done better by "Dave Edmunds" his vocal style and energy made the song more powerful in my opinion then John Fogertys original version.
This original song is a powerful and stirring anthem. Quo's anaemic cover version sounds like a sparrow fart coming down a phone line in comparison. Keep on rocking J.C.Fogerty! Thanks for a great posting.
So incredibly brilliant! Fogerty is so underrated. As I grow old he is one of the few people I relate to aside from Elvis and Jesus. Keep on rocking in the free world John!
Rockin' All Over the World" is a rock song by John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival. It made its debut on Fogerty's second solo album (see John Fogerty) in 1975. Status Quo recorded their own, heavier arrangement of Fogerty's song for their 1977 album Rockin' All Over the World. It is this version which is best known and most played all over the world.
@MrSmokeydog Both versions are good, but it's Status Quo's version more known than Fogerty's. That's life. No need to argue. Speaking of the vocals, yeah, John Fogerty has a stronger voice than Francis Rossi, but the beat and arrangement is poor compared to the Quo's song. I prefer the Status Quo version.
Nice, I'd only heard the Status Quo version up till now (though I've known for a few years that it was a cover), this is pretty damn good, I must say. Love both versions, in all fairness, though the vocals on this definately outstrip those on the Status Quo version.
Yep, 1975, and so amazing that this really sputtered out on the charts in the USA.........could be John's finest....thank you for posting this magical classic.
went out and bought this gem brand new in 73 or so.....every bit as good as any ccr record.....country meets r+b meets carl perkins...fantastic stuff.
The Status Quo version of "Rockin' All Over The World" became a #3 pop hit single over in the UK in late 1977, exactly two years after this original version by Mr. Fogerty was released and peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in America. Sorry Brits, it's Mr. Fogerty's song, not Status Quo's (he wrote it anyway).
Such a rockin' voice he's got!

@bikerdude990 Yeah I dig Creedence and Fogerty and this song smokes and
I made a comment on one of the other versions of this song by Status Quo
just stating how better the vocals are and how much more upbeat the original
version and those Brits just started layin in to me saying how the Quo's version
blew Fogerty's away well suffice to say those crazy brits can blow something else
