not all motherboards support F8 for boot menu.

sometimes it esc, F11, F12, del, home, or something like that.

you need to look at your motherboard datasheet to find out, or just try every one of them.

or you can go to BIOS SETUP and make CDrom primary boot device than you dont need to press anything it automaticly boot from every bootable disc insterted in cdrom while computer is starting

Thank you very much. everything worked good. except for the link for the SLAX program. It is the 6.1.2 and it doesnt work right so your have to find the 2.1v. after that it was smooth sailing and iim now playing halo reach for FREE!! Thank You again. WORKS!!

If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have realized the 2 xbox's I bought from some random; when he put the drives back together, he accidentally put the wrong drive in each xbox, now I just switched the drives up and works 100%. It hit me when you put it on originally and you were talking about the "xbox 360" logo on the screen and not doing anything. (Because that's what happened to me".. Thanks again!

For any1 stuck at any parts, this may help....

you need to download SLAX 2.0 iso file, not the one in the link its too new.

Slax can be burnt on a nomal CD no dvd needed,

aswell as that if your not on 79 just skip the segment on that unlock disc part,

Although its easier with an extra SATA cable its possible with the 2 inside a recent DELL, you just need to swap them around more,(and is less comfortable)

hay if you look on his computer while he has the slax cd runing you can tell that after he has gone to mode b on the top right hand corner it is v 5.1.7 so type in on google slax 5.1.7 download and have the same slax as he has i am not positive that will work but it is the same one that he is using.

i clicked on the link in jungleflasher for the 79 unlock its not a wav file anymore its 3 files. i tried to burn the files just because ive got nothing to loose but it wont work. do you think you could xtract the wav. file you into a .rar folder and the put it on megaupload so i can use the wav file to. if you could do that for me it would be great

i did everything you told me...

downlaoded and burned Slax with Alcohol120% and switched the XBOX on and the PC off....

but when i choose my DVD-Drive as first boot device it shows me a completely different Screen where I can choose some SLAX options and if I do nothing, it boots automatically...

when it did like I told it does anything BUT NOT THAT what you are showing in your vid..... :(

So I can get into mode b with Slax, and I do get the spinning up disk. But once I shut off my pc (with xbox on in mode b) I can't boot up windows. The first mini bar loads and it stops there, but if I turn off the xbox I can boot up. Any solutions, been working on it for hours.

When I shut off my pc, I then turn on my xbox while the dvd drive is connected to one of the SATA ports. When I try to boot from cd or even go into setup the cpu will not boot with the xbox on. This being the only way I think the cpu will detect the drive.

Hello my sons xbox 360 dvd drive went bad. I ordered a new drive exactly the same as the one that was in his 360. I was trying to make it so he could still play online by just switching the circuit boards out between the drives. When I did it I screwed up and pulled the optical laser wire out from the circuit board and not from the drive itself. Now it wont read disks. Did I screw up hes 360 for good where I would have to just put the new circuit bord back into the new drive and flash?
