This is one of the best anime movies I have ever seen. It was so immersive, I just liked the whole feel to it. The only thing I didn't like was that the big battle scene was confusing.
The flight scenes all looked and sounded terrific but the rest of the movie wasn't good at all. The US trailer showed nothing but the flying scenes. I Now I know why. :(

The non CG parts were VERY dull. Dark, undetailed, too shadowy. Speech was minimal and awkward even in Japanese. Storyline & plot lacked background info to make sense. Between the smoking fetishism, the hound dog, the music box, and the female chorus, it's as if I'd seen this anime before. Mamoru Oshii doesn't need more signatures than Quentin Tarantino.
Ghost in the Shell is the only movie of his in my best list.

I have the Blu-ray version and it has subtitles. I never watch the English dubs of anime, but I do watch in Japanese with English subs.
I was skeptical at first, about anime on high-def formats, but this film definately makes good use of the Blu-ray medium. It's got a depth of detail that DVD just can't convey. It begs to be watched on a projection screen with a massive sound system. It's an audio-visual tour-de-force.
I'm curious about why it says English subs, when there aren't any- the lack of subs wouldn't bother me if it didn't say they were there. Good quality video, tho.

do you know about the redboxs? theyer places that you can get movies for a dollar at stores like martins, but you have to have a debet card. ive seen one that has the movie sky crawlers in it that you can get! try it out!

If you`re having any doubts that this isn`t worth watching, you`re mad. Mad as a mexican`s dog. It`s one of the best anime movies I`ve seen.
