6L6 are good to it depenmds on your sound. And i think these amps have a grea tmodern appeal. They are like Krank not as good but with lights in the case which is awesome

for the price and tone i would Go with the Framus Cobra at least as far as i've heard here. I actualy like my bias modded 5150 better too. Character's great in an amps tone but, for metal it needs to be uber tight for me and until i play one i won't know how this thing really holds up. Cleans are meh....Cobra definitely owns on the cleans.

I know this ain't gonna solve this issue but A) this does sound heavy but it is muddy B) mesa trip.rec's,splawn's,and these other "BOUTIQUE" amps are pretty good if you got that kind of cash-I don't. I sort of agree with QUADRUMVIRATE with the 5150,but prefer the 6505 +!Peavey just came out with the 60 watt 1 12" for about $500 at musicians friend.If you can't afford that look for a ZOOM tri-metal pedal on Ebay for about $75.00.They kill,best bang for the buck,all dist. no noise,check youtub

The triple rec is pretty damn muddy... A friend of mine owns one (who's been playing for about 20 years) and even i've fooled around with it.
