sure it can, but they the way shes using the super 8 for belaying is actually the way you rappel with it, but i belay using the super eight the same way its used in the video if thats were you getting that question from

this way obviously works fine belaying and for rappelling, im sure you downloaded the instructions i bought the super and use it just like she does and rappel with it all the time, its super smooth but gets pretty warm... this still makes it the wrong way for belaying this way... i just downloaded the instructions and read To rappel using a Super 8: Insert a loop of rope (or a loop of each rope when using double or twin rope techniques) through the large hole from above figs 15 & 17

who cares about his motives, he is helping climbing grow as a sport and helping to put up some of the hardest climbs in the world. the kids like 15 and is already climbing 9a's. in a year or two hell probably be putting up the first 9c+, i would get excited no matter his motives for climbing. and all i know is i really want that fleece

This kid is super talented and way better than I could ever be, but I get a bad vibe from him. Like he doesn't truly understand the essence of climbing. It looks like all he is concerned with is winning medals at world championships, or just getting to the top of a hard problem. Now Sharma, he's truly a God. I don't think he could care less if he ever got a send on anything because he's truly just living in the moment.

@ClimbingChrispy Everybody has to have some sort of drive to keep them going, mine is getting over climbs that I can't do. Is that really so bad? To have a goal to achieve? I think it harsh that you judge the kid before you even know him, his peers and his attitude to life. And besides, he's young! Attitudes change over time as I'm sure you're aware. Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a go at you, I just think that in time he will prove that he is about the climb.

Ye but I cant take Sharma seriously because he is too relaxed and spends all his time redpointing routes witch take him years to complete. Wares Ondra is a machine repeating all of Sharmas routes in a fraction of the time it took Sharma to do. Ondra will dominate the future of sport climbing unless Oddo pulls out hundreds of 9a+ ascents soon!
