Wake up people! This song was written by legendary songwriter and former rodeo champ Ian Tyson. Ian Tyson still tours and performs, his new album Yellowhead To Yellowstone is great. Moe Bandy is a stupid redneck that sounds more rock than country. When I think of country, people such as Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Willie Nelson and Ray Price come to mind.
@hectorsalinasisback HEY HECTOR This song is by MOE BANDY. If you dont like him then go listen to someone else. Hes a great singer & NOT a stupid redneck. So go back to the gay bar & shut the fuck up.
@56pw Wrong. Ian Tyson, legendary cowboy country singer and former member of folk duo Ian & Sylvia wrote this song, which was also recorded by Judy Collins and Suzy Bogguss. Moe Bandy is just another late period country singer who inspired the unfortunate modern country movement that destroyed country music as we knew and loved.
My parents are dear friends of Moe's, they were at the recording of this. We have a cassette somewhere where you can hear everyone talking, laughing and having a reat time.
I remember Moe coming over our house, I hid under the table when I see Moe because I had lost one of my front teeth. Time flys, I am amost 40.
No. It isn't "cool". That was the goofy girl in me who used to admire rodeo performers. I recall, a few years ago, I watched a young bull rider get thrown and gored by the bull. He got up and walked out of the arena. He died, later, that evening. It still makes me sad when I think about him:(
That's a re-recording. I would've given it five stars instead of four if it was the original recording by Moe. Thanks for posting it, though! But do you have the original version by Moe, the one that climbed the charts in early 1982?
