I miss the quality drum screw up at 3.35 of the original :D .. it's part of what made it so raw. Not too shabby though, and all the better if it introduces new people.
if the title didn't reveal it, i'd think this was just a not-so-good cover... the vocals are the biggest disappointment, not only are they tired and about to break apart, they lack all the emotions they had in burzum's old days. just listen to the lines like "i cannot fall in love" or "one day" in the end. they used to be sang with feelings, now they just... are pronounced and nothing more. these vocals are just boring : \
You know, this version is pretty enjoyable, but 2nd Wave Black Metal just isn't supposed to be rereleased with good production and a prettier-than-usual album cover. It just loses the authentic, true spirit that was there in the old, ugly, superior versions of all these songs. After all, this is Black Metal, kids.
I honestly cant make an oppinion of this song or the album :/ THe re-recoreded versions are ok I guess but the originals will always be the best. Varg always wanted to do things he wanted to do and i guess he wanted to make the old songs more modern.

if the title didn't reveal it, i'd think this was just a not-so-good cover... the vocals are the biggest disappointment, not only are they tired and about to break apart, they lack all the emotions they had in burzum's old days. just listen to the lines like "i cannot fall in love" or "one day" in the end. they used to be sang with feelings, now they just... are pronounced and nothing more. these vocals are just boring : \

You know, this version is pretty enjoyable, but 2nd Wave Black Metal just isn't supposed to be rereleased with good production and a prettier-than-usual album cover. It just loses the authentic, true spirit that was there in the old, ugly, superior versions of all these songs. After all, this is Black Metal, kids.

I honestly cant make an oppinion of this song or the album :/ THe re-recoreded versions are ok I guess but the originals will always be the best. Varg always wanted to do things he wanted to do and i guess he wanted to make the old songs more modern.

i'm one of the old and few hvis lyset tar oss marble picture disc owners.
a million things i can say, though for now i'll stick to whats more current and important.
First great to see so many having a kick ass time with a "band" that has marked
my teenage -and not only- life. It really feels good.
Second, many notes lost in the old recordings cut through the modern mix.
For us who were filling chills down our spines with the endphrase now

Fourth, the amazing polyphonic arps though in the middle of the song with this sound
bring EVERY "big-time production" black or symphonic band to it's knees (by just one dude! instead of needing a whole orchestra to compensate for lack of musical inspiration!)

yeah sure it sounds 'better' tone wise. but the vocals are terrible compared to the old varg howl! and for me the atmosphere of the originals has been sucked out and its just empty sounding like alot of other modern black metal.
