  • @billygtrg

In the summer the fish are really lazy. Try fishing them early and late.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • So is there a certain length the Redfish can pass before they are no good to eat? Or is there no such limit? Because catfish apparently lose flavor after 10-15 lbs.

  • @ElfenLiedPhsycoFan theres a limit for redfish to keep legally, and within that limit they are very tasty, saltwater fish taste better than most freshwater fish

  • @nref55 ahh ok sweet =] sounds good! i can't wait to try it out. Thanks =]

  • I definitely need to get one of these, pulling in big fish on a kayak is a pain.

  • As an avid Gheenoer, this episode says alot about you captain! It's great to see that you have no shame getting off your Lake&Bay and getting on a boat that has 1/10th the horsepower and 1/10th the price and representing it like a champ! Just don't think that they are only good for shallow water, cause if you ever see a Gheenoe outside the beaches hooking triple tail or in the passes jumping tarpon, thats me!! HAHA I've caught a tarpon in my Gheenoe that out weighed boat and motor easily!

  • @239gheenoer

Great comment and glad you enjoyed it. Fishing out of the Gheenoe is fun. Fish just jerk you around with no problem. LOL

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • what hp motor is on that and what kind of jack plate is that?

  • @saltwaterangler1

The jackplate is a Garelick and the motor is a Nissan 8 hp.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • @captchancey What size gheenoe is this? Is this the highsider or classic? would be interested in selling it? Im located over here in sarasota.

    Thanks

  • @rambam4

Great question. However, my brothers already bought it. I could ask them if they would like to sell though. They put nice Nissan 8hp new 4 stroke on it.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • @captchancey yeah, if you can ask him if he would like to sell the gheenoe that would be great

  • hey i fish kinda new to this area, but ive started learning the water and i was just wondering where this is exactly?

  • Wow, im new to the area and I have been trying to get alot of T.O.W (time on water) in around the sanibel/pine island area. I have yet to have any luck. I knew Crystal River near Homasasa on the back of my hand... Still trying to figure this place out :/

  • @murderedc230

I like that TOW. Good stuff.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • what size motor is that

  • hey i was wondering what rod and reel are you using in this

    thanks travis

  • @Troach101

I believe we used a couple different rod and reel combinations. One was a Cape Fear 10-20 Advance Tech which is no longer made and the reel was a Fin Nor Mega Lite. We also used St. Croix with a Shimano Stradic. Hope this helps.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • this NEEDS to be a legit tv show.

  • @RainingBlood231

We are legit. You can check us out every week at 10am on Versus. Thank you very much for watching and I appreciate the great comment.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • I love gheenoe! Im getting one this saturday!

  • Great Show!!!!!!!!!!! Is this Pine Island near Saint James?

  • @Anthony5217

It's the other end of the island.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • I would love to know were you found that motor mount? It would make launching in very shallow water much easier. Please that mount would make boat complete.

  • @wsdjr64

The Jack Plate is from Garelick and it is used for the tiller motors on larger boats.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • would i have better luck on reds with a live greenback or a cut one...?

  • @snoballsaregood

Both work great at different times.

  • Nice boat, I have the 13'er with a 6 hp. Fish don't even know those little gheenoes are there, super stealthy boat just wish the hull-slap wasn't so loud on windy days lol.

  • I love the show Captain! You are a great fisherman and have quite an enjoyable show. I was just curious as to what particular rod and reel you used in this video.

    Keep up the great work!

  • arsome vid i faved id

  • is that a 15hp on that gheenoe?

  • It was and 8hp. My brothers bought it from me and now it does have a 15hp Nissan.

  • why not just throw a super spook or super spook junior...it usually does well for tailin reds here in tx

  • The weeds tend to mess up the bait. I like using them though.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • What time of the year was this in Pine Island Sound? We're about to head down this way for a vacation. Staying in Charlotte Harbor, Bokeelia area.

  • Winter Time

  • that seems exciting. the biggest redfish ive caught was like 10 inches. im form louisiana, so i fish in rockerfeller fishing refuge. one of my freinds caught a 32 inch 12 lb redfish out there. it put up a good fight

  • man that gheenoe is bad to the bone! buddy had one... light , runs skinny skinny! seen dudes put poleing platforms on them...love it....

CHECK OUT MY WADE FOR REDS VIDEO.....

  • What line and leader were you using?

What setup were you using when you were using cut ladyfish?

  • I believe we were using 20 pound Suffix braid with 30lb Suffix Fluro leader. We now use Cape Haze 7ft 10-20 or 7-15 7ft heavy action rods.

    God Speed,

    Capt Ben

  • @captchancey what are your favorite lures for fishing flats around mosquito lagoon if you have heard about like the whale tail island around that area

  • @NoRespawnHere

Berkley Gulp New Penny seems to do very well over there. Topwater lures like the top pup work well too.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • cool

  • you should do a vid on sturegon fishing in oregon I cought a 8ft 400 pounder

  • I agree Jacobhunts.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Hey Capt. Ben, I live in cape coral and watch your show all the time. I was wondering if you know anywhere to launch a kayak in pine island sound thats close to some good fishing spots? I usually fish for reds near bunch beach but it seems to be getting overcrowded.

  • There is a little kayak launch spot right before Pineland Marina. We filmed this show there.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Being from South West Louisiana I have fished for reds all over the place. My best luck has been in downtown lake charles louisiana by the sea wall. I was wondering how much experience you've had with Louisiana reds, and if you can give any advice chasing these big boys down.

  • I have had a little experience with the Reds in Laffitte and Grand Isle. You can do well with Cocohoe minnows and spinner baits. Thanks for watching.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • how big is that gheenoe

  • 15 ft

    Thanks for watching.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • what area is that

  • Pine Island Sound

  • whats your favorite saltwater fish

  • Snook

  • huge fan of your show. i never herd of it untill youtube. now every time i cast to a fish its CHEW ON THIS.

  • awsome, thanks for the tip. Me and my buddy got a video on our kayaks we got 2 big black drums and a big fat red and a small snook yesterday, check it out its worth the while.

  • CHANCEY, WHEN DO U FIND REDFISH TAILING?

What kind of tide and conditions what time of year im lost in the dark here.

  • Shortbus you can find them year round but you need to be out on a negative tide.

  • nice Gheenoe. I'm suprised I haven't seen you buzzing around on that thing. You born and raised here in Ft. Myers?

  • Jackrin I just sold it to my little brothers a month ago. I really liked it but one day while driving to the launch the motor bounce out of the boat and someone stole it. After that it sat in my garage for awhile. I really liked it though.

  • ugh... that's a bummer. Gheenoe's are great for around here. I have a 14' Indian River Flatback canoe that I do a lot of night fishing out of. I've been dumping it in a lot upriver near the powerplant in search of what I call "Freshy" snook, the really dark ones with what looks like a barb on their anal fin. I haven't been out much the past few weeks though..

  • nice videos i also watched ur goliath videos where were yo when u cought that 500 pounder under the bridge.

  • Yippie,

We were fishing the Sanibel Causeway before they began construction on the new bridge.

  • Ben, Great video, I love your highlights and wish you were on Bright House networks in the Tampa area. I just watched some of your other Goliath Videos, you are a riot. I feel like going fishing now.

  • Billy you are right on that one. Thanks for the great rating.

  • Awesome stuff Captain Chancey! Makes me miss the FL salt (moved to Austin, TX) and my old Gheenoe even more. You gotta get someone to pole you around next time. :) Nice feesh.
