  • Did you even bother to watch the video and look at the quotes? Darwin used this exact point that you just mention to REFUTE the idea of enormous differences between the races.

  • @ crankhousedope: When you said "I must be honest, Im not a Darwin's expert," that should have been the end of it. You only made yourself look foolish when you continued to speak, and anybody that has read Darwin's works or autobiography knows that you haven't read one sentence of anything that Darwin has ever wrote. If you aren't an expert on something, then STFU and read up on it.

  • He might have not invented it, but he sure as hell made a justification for it......soooo, it's safe to say that he was a racist and that he played a major role in the genocide that took place during his living years. SHEEPLE WAKE UP...IT'S TIME!!!

  • @1faithtruth It is highly irritating when people make knee-jerk responses to my videos without going to verify the points from the sources. Make sure that your own eyes are open before you attempt to wake someone else from their sleep.

  • @1faithtruth calling a man living in the nineteenth century a "racist" is like calling a man living in the nineteenth century an "oxygen breather." The belief that some races were superior to others was considered hard science up until (and beyond) the 1950's "Racism" wasn't even coined as a term until the early 20th century.

  • Darwin didn't start racism , but his theories did give racist ideology a percieved credence because he suggested that certain people are superior to others because of natural selection. The Nazis used Darwins theories to validate their view that the white aryan race was superior and other races inferior. This allowed the Nazis to exterminate 6 millions Jews during the Haulocaust

  • Please do me a favor and research the quotes that I played in this video, as it seems you missed the entire point. Darwin had a long histoy of FIGHTING racism and REFUTING the idea of racial superiority. Darwin repeatedly debunked the idea of racial superiority in the Descent of Man and other writings.

  • Maybe Darwin didn't my fair lady, but the point blaq was trying to make was that it "influenced" racist ideologies.

  • @TallCatsMakeGoodHats Darwin isn't to blame if others failed to read his works carefully. He comes out 100% against eugenics in Descent of Man. That ought to have settled it for any true 'Darwinian'. The problem was with the racists not CD. And humans aren't mentioned in Origin - 'races' referred to species. Actually read the book. There's not a single racist idea in it anywhere.

  • It really doesn't matter what Darwin thought , people used his theories to persecute other people.

  • That is the very reason we should show everyone that Darwin was NOT a racist. It only hurts the people that call themselves "social Darwinists" or whatever they call themselves

  • I don't understand why people don't understand that. We can't let racists rewrite history!

  • Watch this video racists did the same thing with Arab literature. Its like a conspiracy

"Arab / Muslim Literature on black people [The Colonial Imaginary part 1]"

  • Yes, along with many other dictators in history... Hitler wasn't the only one.

Whether or not you wish to argue Darwin was a racist or not is besides the point... I think he was, whether you wish to think you're "telling the truth" or not, read the books for yourselves... they were sexist and racist--even if that was the norm at the time--it doesn't make him amazing, it makes him wrong. If Bio books weren't so worried about his views, they would post the FULL TITLE of his books in context.

  • I have read all of Darwin's books from front to back, and it is extremely obvious that you have not. It is also obvious that you did not take the time to verify the points of this video before responding to it with disagreement. And I really do not like it when people misrepresent their level of experience and understanding upon matters before they develop strong convictions. This is called intellectual dishonesty.

  • No, you have not taken the time to realize what he's done. Again, if scientists WERE NOT AFRAID of his personal views, they would post the entire title to his books... they would explain they do not back his views. This type of bs is called picking what you want and furthering your agenda... much of what's going on now with that theory in comparison with what I'm doing now, picking what I want---and making him a racist fool who developed people's understanding for weaker races to die off.

  • and if you had actually read my first statement, I gave my opinion, not the truth, since I did not know the man himself. I said it was not a matter of what his personal views were, I said it was a matter of what his personal views have done to influence others.

Whether they were merely observations or inferences, he caused a great deal of stir that only backlashed the greater population into means of superior race slavery, and exterminations ...now it's abortion and soon it'll be worse.

  • @droptozro I hope you disregard this dumb downed brainwashed fool, whom made this video post, replies....clearly he has been taught my the memories of CHARLES DARWIN, which goes to say his statement/opinion are extremely one sided!! :) Stay smart my friend :)

  • I know slavery was around, and I know racism was around well before Darwin, he just gave it a basis of reason to be morally justifiable in matters of race... instead of warfare/debt/poverty.

Darwin's theories brought about the idea that life is not special, and you're just "another animal" and his ideals are degrading to society---again I didn't know the man, I only see what he's done, and it's wrong. God won't come in the end for what he intended, but for what he did to the human race.

  • And again, all of your concerns would have been addressed if you had actually red the man's books. In addition, you also need a lesson on the slippery slope fallacy. At any rate, I don't have the patience of people that just rehearse their prejudices when confronted with information, rather than take the time to think about what has been said, so consider yourself blocked.

  • @droptozro You are absolutely right in everything you are saying about RACIST CHARLES DARWIN. The REAL title of his most famous book is " THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES BY MEANS OF NATURAL SELECTION, ON THE PRESERVATION OF FAVOURED RACES IN THE STRUGGLE OF LIFE." Which he stated that the WHITE race was the dominate race, and any other RACE, was inferior to the CIVILIZED WHITE MAN, more so on the lines as animals, which his dumb ass didn't know that man are the 3rd intelligent beings on the earth.

  • Your a closed minded racist.I have read all of Darwins books, and I believe he was racist. He did not creat racism nor slavery, but he made it very popluer to hate blacks, jews and asians in America. You must of omited what you disagree about darwins book,so you could love him in the end.

  • You haven't even read a 4th grade spelling book, let along books by Charles Darwin.

  • Ironicly Darwin did the greatest good for Christianity by driving the church out of biology. You should be thankful for that

  • Great work! Though the Steven Hawking robot-voices weird me out a little...

Thanks for setting the record straight. I've heard Darwin blamed for all kinds of outrageous things.

  • Excellent work!

  • Wait, so Darwin didn't hate Africans... he just hated the Portuguese?

In all seriousness, though, this is a good defence. The only problem is that the same people who jump up and down to defend Darwinism from being used in a way it was never intended (social Darwinism, as you suggest at the beginning of the video), are often the ones who mount the same types of attacks against religion. Let's face it, human beings can be hateful; take away one excuse for such hatred we'll just find another.

  • The problem is that many religions are quite explicity racist, sexist, homophobic and pro-oppression.

  • Thanks for proving my point... you're a real genius.

  • Am I lying?

  • No. You're misrepresenting and generalizing. Let's try this: "The problem is that many 'Italians' are quite explicity [sic] racist, sexist, homophobic and pro-oppression." Hmmm... that doesn't work so well. does it? How about "The problem is that many Darwinists are quite explicitly racist, sexist, homophobic and pro-oppression." Or why don't we just get real and admit that "The problem is that many PEOPLE & ORGANIZATIONS are quite explicitly racist, sexist, homophobic and pro-oppression."

  • First of all, a religion is an ideology. Every single thing that you've replaced religion with is not an ideology, but a group of people in which the situation would be quite different. Saying that Jim Crow Laws were explicitly racist is not the same thing as saying white southerners are explicitly racist.

  • And while we're at it, why not test that theory on the most 'intolerant' religion of all: Christianity. Let's see: Christ's lineage includes Rahab (a Canaanite prostitute), Ruth (a Moabite, and descendent of Lot's drunken incest with his daughters), and Solomon (the product of David's adulterous affair with Bathsheba, which led to murder). No wonder this 'Christ' guy was always hanging out with prostitutes and thieving tax collectors. Yep, that's a pretty intolerant religion, all right.

  • I even heard there's a religion that preaches:

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

What kind of crazy, hippy book was THAT written in?

  • "To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree," (Charles Darwin, Origin of Species).

  • I have done a similar video respnse - I wasn't trying to imitate yours, but was similarly enraged by the original video! The more people see this nasty and dishonest video refuted the better, in my opinion.

  • There is a book out entitled "Darwin's Plantation" in the religious section of bookstores. It has similar false propaganda. I've begun to write a book in response to it.

  • Great job Gary. :o)

  • Didn't racism and race-based slavery exist way before Darwin?

  • Absolutely.

  • Yes,racism existed before Darwin, but he made it Poplar to hate non white with his book.

  • Did you even bother to pay attention to the information in this video?

  • Racists want to make everything to be racist. Just because a bunch of random people think a certain way doesn't make it true

  • I agree to that...

  • This is a very informative great video. I am not an atheist but I do hate when people react to a subject based on unfounded knee jerk assumptions. I try not to practice this behavior by doing research.

  • Just because information comes from somewhere else doesn't mean it's TRUE. Research is the key.

  • I'm not an athiest either, but I don't think you have to be to acknowledge the basic ideas of thorough research.
