it is a selfless courage that obviously you will never know. the airmen fully integrated the military. the naacp had to sue to give us these priveleges of serving our nation. whether you like it or not, america is our home. everyday more people enjoy america's promise. you may call us fools but the highest honor a man may recieive is giving his life for his nation. even moreso in the case of the airmen. theyre immortal heroes. youre the fool.

My dad is a TA. There are two researchers, one of them the official TA historian who have found that that claim is overstated. While it is likely that some of teh thousands of planes they protected were brought down my the enemy it should not take away from their accomplishments in disproving the critics of the day.

It is my understanding that no bomber was lost that these airmen were escorting during the war.

That was a myth that was spread for years. It has just been reported that they lost at least 25 Bombers to enemy aircraft fire.
