@ML678v yes, true..I think that if they had not stopped christianity than now Japan would be a catholic country. On the other hand. I have also been to Goa (India) and Macau (China) These are also places were the Portugese arrived in the 16th and 17th century. In Goa you have many Portugese churches but like Macau the catholic faith is not the head religion. So maybe Japans xenophobia was shortsighted

最短ルートパターンなら、長崎駅前からだと出島有料道路経由で茂木から上戸町バイパス経由が一番迷わずに走行できると思います。
ただ、有料道路はいやだって方には、浜の町から正覚寺経由で向かうルートが距離としてみれば一番スマートです。

このご紹介されているルートは、遠回りになります。
鍋冠山へ登る最短ルート(車も可)は、ホテルニュータンダから左折し、オランダ坂を登り石橋方面へ直進してそのまま下ります。(注:途中の交差点で左折して海星高校方面に登らない様に!)
石橋電停近くの交差点に出るので左折し、大浦石橋通りに出る。
上田町のブレイズ川上(ビル)がある交差点を右折し、出雲町方面へ登る(細くて急な坂道:車の運転に不慣れな人は要注意!)
登り詰めた所の右側に橋本酒店があるので、その先の交差点を右折し登りきると鍋冠山公園の入り口へ到着します。

ただ、この説明文でルートが理解できるのは、このルートを知っている方だけだろうと思います。
出来れば、長崎駅からのルート案内ビデオをレスポンスに投稿して頂けないでしょうか。
長崎の街は、ややこしいので、私も含め多くの方の参考になります。
