  • Would anybody today believe that marriage is wrong between blacks and whites?

notice how the argument never metions sexual gender. because the basic realization is that civil In-justice will not be tolerated. as mlk fought for civil rights, so should the gays of this country. it is just old minds unwilling to admit they are on an equal level as another human being.

  • @alexmillertommie13 Thanks for the great comment!

I was just reading that 24% of far-right conservative college freshman believe that gay marriage should be legal - that is something that the Republican party needs to realize and stop making gay marriage an issue! It will tear their party apart if they continue...

  • @worldli

thats exactly right, the party needs to see that young adult are looking at the faults of an older generation. the republican party needs to focus more moderate of issues like these if we want to retake the congress

  • @alexmillertommie13 And judging from today's health care remarks, they have a very long way to go!

  • WOW this is what i fight for? pathetic.

  • Do elaborate.

  • Prejudice is not the same as ABERRATION ...!

Who do You Want Guard Your Little "Lambs" a dog or a WOLF...?

  • Bible bangers....You really piss me off....Jesus would except Gays and Lesbains, he would have excepted their marriage with open arms and a smile on his face. MKL Would except too...

  • If Jesus were an American, I believe that he would not try to overthrow the Constitution with the Bible.

And if Jesus had two gay friends (of the same gender) who wanted to be married, he would not condemn them or try to talk them out of their love for one another, but rather would bless them.

Thank God that Jesus is not a Christian.

  • Far from being "callous" or "brutal", Prop 8 is an act of TRUE CHRISTIAN CHARITY!!! What could be more CRUEL and INHUMANE than to stand idly by while those FILTHY FAG BRUTES condemn their immortal souls to Hell by gay-marrying each other!!! In the name of mercy and decency, all good Christians must come together and protect the fags from themselves and their sinful, soul-condemning proclivities!!! Prop 8 is for the fags' OWN GOOD!!!

  • Whoa there- Catholicism, for instance (a Christian religion as you probably know) is against gay marriage, but they are not against gays. The church says that they must be treated humanely and with respect, and by no stretch of the imagination is what you said what any religion believes.

  • Get your Bible away from the government.

  • Correction: the 52% figure is of the VOTES CAST, not of the population. Given the small margin, Prop 8's passage may have been a matter of being outmobilized. This leads to two points: 1) confusing population with the prevailing voters is bad math and sets unreasonable expectations, & 2) an uphill see-saw battle of ballot initiatives may only offer a bandaid rather than a lasting solution (i.e. a state or federal amendment explicitly outlawing discrimination on the basis of orientation)

  • Well, according to the most recent Gallup poll (May, 2009), 57% of Americans still oppose gay marriage while only 40% of Americans support it. Also, would a state or federal amendment "explicitly outlawing discrimination" on orientation work? All those people that are against gay marriage are (as a majority) not against gays, and by their support of having no gay marriage they do not feel that what they are doing is discriminatory in the first place.

  • "I was late for school because of this shit.

Play some video games or something."

    Hey Shaman,

If the worst thing that happens to you is being late for school, consider your sheltered little life lucky.

Have you ever spent hours waiting to find out if your partner is dead because the hospital won't let you in the ccu?

I buried my partner Duane of 10 years last month.

If we had been married, I could have held his hand and told him I loved him one last time.

  • I am so sorry.

I only wish I was American so I could have voted and could fight against this evil and ignorant proposition.

"Love does not delight in injustice, but rejoices in the truth"

I'm sure your partner is still by your side-and for his sake, don't give up the fight, some day justice will come to the fore and on that day it won't have been in vain.

    Good luck man. Be strong.

    (:

  • the bible is outdated meaning it cant addapt to change and evolution its also scientifically uncorrect i personally wouldnt choose to marry because i would never agree to the quotes chosen when marrying somebody that i would vow to god to stay together excetra why would i choose to vow to something i strongly dissagree upon but for those who do choose to get married i think it dispicable that in today's socioty people are juged for being different there should be no laws against people's rights

  • First time in History that a Constitutional Amendment was made to take rights away from people.

  • Amedment that banned alcohol......but a few years later, that was over turned.....by another amendment. Now that States have divided over the issue, it will have to go to the Supreme Court.

  • If we gave gays marriage, I have no doubt they would be right back out there with Liberals, wanting something else... and fucking up traffic for everyone.

I was late for school because of this shit.

It's completely counter-productive when you halt SF public life and still get no results -- going thome, feeling better about yourselves, even though you've achieved nothing.

Play some video games or something.

    Assholes....

  • do the jesus people hear how they contradict themselves? separation of church and state and yet see everyone in this video quote the bible. it's not about hate: but look at the posters! the jesus people say: you gays already have equal rights in domestic partnerships, it's just semantics, yet refuse to "allow" gays to use the word "marriage".

  • WE THE PEOPLE have spoken, you don't like it, then move to Iran where they just LOVE deviates!! AMERICA will NEVER allow deviate marriage! State after state have voted AGAINST gay marriage, get the idea?? Of course I guess we could always go back to the good old days huh! What you do in the privacy of your home is YOUR affair, DO NOT push your agenda on America and try to make us think it's alright. IT"S NOT!!

  • amen to that the people spoke all the gays trying to force this shit on people they try to over rule the people by crying to the suprme court. JUST SAY NO TO PROP 8

  • what? can't hear you!...can you shout any louder? marriage = sex only? is that what you think of when you mention your "married" parents, siblings, friends? you are not being asked to BE gay. you are asked to treat all equal. geez. if there is any agenda being foisted it is your religion, keep your damn religion to yourself.

  • yessss no GAY marriage in california..yes,yess..what a good day

  • OMG you all are dumb small minded people. marriage is about love. they are fighting for love, in marriage if you take away that love-marriage then why not take way 1 man and one women marriage. marriage should be free to the public. you haters should go home. If a man and a man want to be marryed then let them. no one stoped stright guys and girls getting marryed so why stop gay's. In my mind it is none of the stright person's place to be there at all. Gay's should be free

  • Gay marriage isn't good. Traditional marriage is meant to be a joining of a man and woman, body and soul, for better or for worse. Why? To legally sanction, in the eyes of God and the community, the physical union of a man and woman in the hopes of producing offspring. Now, legalizing gay marriage would lead to gay couples adopting children (it would be their legal right, yes?) And that isn't good. Go gay and you forfeit your right to have offspring. It's not oppression. It's nature.

  • homos cannot have a family. 2 pussys cannot come together and make a baby and 2 diks cannot come together and make a baby ! homos cannot reproduce and cannot make a family !! end of story !!! thus saith the LORD !!!

  • 5/26/09,You homos lost again in CA. Now go back into the closet!

  • What could "majority vote" decide against a minority next? If a majority vote is all that's required, why not take away more rights from "certain people".

Force them to wear visible ID in public.

Take away their right to work.

Strip them of tangible possessions and property.

Round them up to relokate to a labor camp.

    Huddle them into "showers".

If we could only get a slight majority to vote YES on this "final solution", this would be a better world. Wouldn't it?

    THINK!!!

  • YEP

  • God didn't make marriage and if he hated gays than there wouldnt be gays.

  • Religious fascism is very scary! Those people can't even see what they are saying. Religion is an individual choice. Adam and eve is a myth story plagiarized from the Sumerian people. Civil marriage is a civil law practice for legal purposes, it is not a religious invention of religious people, it's Pagan. Civil marriage is a legal document and provides certain legal rights to those couples that have it. Religion and civil law is separate. You can't vote to take people's rights away.

  • I cant believe that in this day and age so many people are still so narrow minded.....Let people live as they want to live....as long as they are not hurting anyone what does it matter...

  • The case made before the Supreme Court of the State of

California WAS that the ORIGINAL drafters of your state constitution were BETRAYED by the process used to pass Proposition 8 2008. I would B FAR more comfortable, and I bet some of the "Yes on 8" folks would B as well, IF there had been a *constitutional convention* and the vote had passed by a 2/3 majority. HAD THAT HAPPENED, then I seriously doubt U all would have seen an INSTANT negative response that your Supreme Court agreed 2 hear!

  • I like the guy who talked about similart civil rights movements. We don't have the rigt t do much in this country, but our right to fight, to persue our dreams and gain equality for our people AND the next generation of GLBT people is something I am willing to fight for the rest of my life on.

  • Same sex couples are treated as fairly and equally as polygamous and incestuous unions. None of which are entitled government recognition. Gays aren't special, nor is special pleading on your part persuasive.

  • "

Same sex couples are treated as fairly and equally as polygamous and incestuous unions. None of which are entitled government recognition. Gays aren't special, nor is special pleading on your part persuasive."

There are very big differences between polgamy, incest and gay marriage. You are ignorant of these. The fact that you believe us wanting to be equal is "special" rights says a lot about you.

  • I'm a straight conservative who does believe in traditional marriage. But at the same time I don't think a government should be in control over social issues. Homosexuality is a moral and personal choice, not a political choice. Why should a gay man or woman be denied to commit in marriage to their lovers? I also however, do not believe a tax break should be given strictly by marriage, but rather by children. If gays adopt, or lesbians become pregnant and birth, they should also get a tax cut.

  • Religious ideology has no place in government. None. What people in this film are calling "marriage" is a civil contract. Marriage is a contract governed by the government. As such, the government must provide an equal opportunity for all persons to enter into such a contract if that government holds equality as a value. America has claimed equality as its founding value for more than two hundred years--so how can it allow any segment of its citizenry to decide to rescind that equality? How?

  • False of course. The Supreme Court has held in Maynard v. Hill that marriage is "more than a mere contract." It is a legal institution subject to government regulation, and as a consequence is not a "contract" under the meaning of the Constitution's Contracts Clause.

The law has never entertained an abstract, foolish "equality," otherwise bans on consensual incestuous or polygamous marriages would be unconstitutional; as would affirmative action, laws concerning disabled persons, etc.

  • Thank you for posting this Worldli. I support gay marriage! I don't get why some people are opposed to it.

  • Same sex couples deserve to be treated fairly and equally by their government.

  • Well done and edited.
