Perform the movement very slowly and smoothly with the fist keeping the thigh off the bench or chair. Flex the hip slightly so the entire weight of the leg is not on your fist. Be sure to lock out the leg for a full second.
Yes. Sit on a bench or a chair with a right fist on the chair under your right thigh just above the knee, with your lower leg dangling down. Slowly raise the lower leg on a 10 count (one thousand one, one thousand two, ect) until the leg is straight. Hold for one second and lower for a 10 count. Repeat five times. Change legs. The thigh stays on your fist the entire movement.
hey, now i was shown by a tai chi teacher that the abductor muscles are made to pull the leg straighter and standing in a bent fashion and using the abductors to turn out the knee to help strengthen that muscle... ive noticed slight improvement, i have okay knock knees i just hate the way it looks when i walk cuz it looks funny so im wondering if u have a way that i can do an excercise like this without a special machine.. Thank you
Very imformative. I've been trying to find an exercise to improve my knock knees. This seems like a good, simple, an effective exercise. I'm gonna try this.
I have just the opposite of knock-knees. I've inherited my father's BOW-LEGS! As I've gotten older, it has become more pronounced. Perhaps it's because I had a serious injury to both my knees 32 years ago, where my right knee was more damaged than my left.(broken patella) I've had arthroscopic surgery on both knees, and arthritic cartiledge was removed from the right one. What exercises can I do to lessen the look of bow-legs?

Let me know how it goes. Remember to go very slowly. At the same time, handle as much weight as you can while keeping proper form.
