  • Yeah and a 100% SBS are Royal or was when I was in

  • Do they do all these different races in one day??

  • @charlietangossss it's done over a week starts wed - 10 miler and trainasium, thurs - log race and steeplecahse, fri - 2 miler and milling, weekend off, mon 20 miler, tues - stretcher race

  • it is emotional----EPIC

  • @Steve06669 Dont see the time change as an excuse to be happy where you are fitness wise. Prac is not a walk in the park for someone with a decent run time at adsc

  • Wow, Para's really don't mess around. Major respect to you guys.

  • I didn't think I was fit enough until they changed the 1.5 mile timed run from 9.18 to 9.40. I am so gonna get into PRAC course after ADSC no matter what!!!! (PARAs the only way) Grrrr...

  • I was at Catterick doing my TSC INF and saw these nutters doing PT sessions, they are absolute machines, and they were only the recruits - anybody who gets into P Coy deserves the ultimate respect as they have to be the real best of the best, fair do's lads!

  • I passed PCoy aged 35 leaving guys 15 years younger in my wake. I'm 46 now and wouldn't have a chance! It's tough but acheivable if you prepare properly. With the right mentality and belief you can achieve anything.

  • i was just wondering if someone could possibly explain the difference between the PARA's 1-4 ??? is it a promotional thing? or go straight into whichever ?

  • @blackcoffee17 4 PARA is the reserve section of the parachute regiment and it is made up of volunteers who are fully trained parachute soldiers. When you first join you will go into either 2 or 3 PARA and will serve 2 years in with either of them, after 2 years in 2 or 3 PARA you will go into 1 PARA which forms part of the Special Forces Support Group providing infantry support to the SAS and others and in 1 PARA you will receive further training on additional weapons and skills.

  • @SidESKiT not entirely correct you can be posted straight to 1 Para after passing out of depot

  • @TheAirbornePainTrain no sideskit is correct

  • @FriTTzProductions well seeing as i was one of the Para Reg PTI's at Depot Para up until last year i think i should know where the joes get posted to

  • how many paras actually have there wings now fuck all

  • @ollie272 eh? all Parachute Regiment capbadge personel have ther wings, you'll be getting mixed up wi the attached arms.

  • @ollie272 all para's have to get their wings to pass their basic training

  • @SooSneeky erm not anymore they dont they pass out of training then go to brize norton once at battalion

  • @TheAirbornePainTrain oh ok my bad thought they still did it like that, thanks :D

  • Paras are somthing else.........tried pcoy and failed .........only the fittest survive!

  • suppose a canadian lad here can join?

I mean were part of the Commonwealth...

  • @alikos88 If you're asking can you join, yes you can I'm Irish and I got an interview for these next month funny enough in the british army infantry dvd one of the guys being interviewed is from Canada.

  • @TheZodiacKiller622

the only problem I heard was that you have to make your own living arrangments for a period of time...not sure how to go about that.

  • @TheZodiacKiller622 I from Ireland aswell man..I was wondering if i want to join do i have to get a citizeinship?

  • 3:36 lol Go on Dickie Anderson giving joe some friendly advice. A man in the know a pleasure to have served with him ! Utrinque Paratus, Ready for anything !!

  • this is good stuff

  • You can't compare Royal Marines and Paras. The Royal Marines are a commando force who specialise in amphibious assaults, the Paras are commandos who specialise in dropping behind enemy lines. Marines are Royal Navy. Paras are British Army.

  • @MarkramUK

Agree, RM Commando's & Airborne Forces are of a similar standard but different role , did this myself back in 1990 , but will always rate Commando trained troops very highly !!

  • Major at 28 in the Paras. Wow. This guy dont fuck around.

  • Fuck all this bullshit about how either the Roayl Marines or the Paras are better then eachother, the Paras are more like soldiers because they have to carry more heavy kit, simple true fact! The Marines however are the best for amphibious landings and terrain, and they do what they do the best! Simple as that! :P

  • At 4:38 What music is playing in the background?

  • ill give you a good tip dont eat yellow snow

  • iam 16 years old iam currently in A levels once im 18 and have finished my exams im going to join the paras. i have wanted to be a member of an elite force for most of my life i was thinking about the royal marines but i love the idea of being a para in my eyes they are better then the marines. im not saying marines arnt good i just prefer the paras. i have started getting fit now so that i might have a slight advantage when i go to join up. if there is any advise you can give me please do.

  • @poynter126 should said "i started to get fit" i advise you to be very physically fit and for an "edge" all of the people who go in to join the parachute regiment need to be physically fit, i advise you excersize as much as you can maybe go long distance jog's hit the gym build up your leg muscles as alot of course will consist of you running alot with heavy equipment also do press-ups when ever trainers beast they nearly allways make you do press-ups.

  • @TheGunner1324 i did go cadets a while back. and thanks for the advise man.

  • @poynter126 no problem, hope i helped and go luck to you on either path you take in life.

  • @poynter126 also if you are doimg A levels i advise you stay on the educational road and go to university, then try to be a officer in the parachute regiment, much better pay and get alot respect, also have you done any other milltary activity's that might imrpove your chances, did you ever go to cadets (52% of all millitary personel in the british army are ex-cadets), teachs you basics about weapons, and helps you alot but if your 18 i think you maybe to old.

  • @poynter126 The Para's are not "better" than the Marines... Both regiments are top in the world at what they do. If you fancy jumping out of planes join Para's if you fancy working at sea and being launched out of submarines go marines. I can tell you this tho, the Royal Marine Commando Course takes you all over the world. Do your research next time and read about the falklands if your only young. Marines and Para's gave the Argies a good seeing to. Good luck

  • @poynter126 the fitter the better, but you are never army fit i suggest run run and run, and do millions of pressups

  • Is it me or is Pcoy getting easier and easier as the years go by. The average modern lad is less fit than those in past history, more over weight and would prefer xbox than going for a run!

  • @1972JWA Itsnot P Company, its life itself.

  • guys have anyone read hes book?any reviews?

  • I think thats just the first day?

  • ahh only 6 weeks till my training starts !! :) cant w8

  • @plym0uth2 you going in the paras? My training starts on the 22nd of Jan but I'm going in the infantry

  • THe living accomodation in afghanistan military bases is really bad. You don't really wanna go over there at all. YOu have to think smart now at the moment with the way the world is. There is no purphouse being in afghanistan if you are british. Stay here

  • @IRELANDISMYCOUNTRY. You're wrong.

  • @OurLordGodHimself And what authority do you have to say I'm wrong?

  • bootnecks rule ...........end of dit

  • @toothy948 Your dit was so shit it sank a sub.

  • If your happy being second best join the paras, royal marines are hoofin!

  • Comment removed

  • @2captainbuckfast2 2nd best is defeat. So that means Paras aren't very good at losing at anything.

  • @2captainbuckfast2 60% of the SAS are ex-paras...

  • @GhostX1200 True, He probably felt impotent when he saw what REAL soldiers are like. Not their nancy boy seal and green berets.

  • @comingforya1 Also, this is training to be a paratrooper, not just the goal of getting 'fit'

  • sam mcgrath = machine !!!

  • @rocketman19911 maroon machine :P

  • 2 REP of the French Foreign Legion are also worth joining. But deep down id prefer the British Paras.

  • @Browno86InnitBlud The legion get treated like shit, better to stick with the much better paid and respected British army. I have respect for the legion but they are a commodity, nobody cares when they die and it feels akin to being a mercenary imo.

  • @comingforya1 Okay there bro. Clearly you missed the part that he's a paratrooper and can tear your shit apart.

  • @frank6546 not to sure why my comment was cut in half there haha

  • @frank6546 then what are the RM trained to do?... Im sure the marines are well known for the amphibious abilitys that being specialised to fight in any terrain in the world by sea by land and also by air... I know the paras are am elite force im just saying people make out the marines just yomp long distances, not the fact there trained across all aspects of warfare and any situation, and tbf i dont know much about the paratroops recruit training but im guessing it would be along the lines of s

  • the people who disliked this probably failed p company

  • @SamRoberts96 lol

  • Ugh, The paras are a British regiment. The recruit from lands end to John O groats. not "English" as every American seems to think

  • @thebigfudge85 There also exist variations of it across the Commonwealth.

  • @GhostX1200 Not true. I am American, and I have nothing but the greatest respect for the Paras and the British Army. I wish I lived in England. I would want to become a Para.

  • @khalsasikh You can become a Ranger instead.

  • @killerclown789 I was an Airborne Ranger. After that, I became a Marine Infantry Officer. I love the Paras, and would join now if I could.

  • @khalsasikh

I passed P Company in 1985 (509 Platoon). We were the last platoon to do it all in the Shot. 510 did some of it in Wales. I found it unbelievably tough. I was fit when I joined and I was beasted to fuck for 11 weeks leading up to it and I still found it proper hard. It was such a relief to pass. I'm so proud to be ex Para Reg.That beret was very hard won and I'll treasure it for ever. Utrinque Paratus, Ready for Anything!

  • dontfuckwithsolidbritishLADS

  • I passed selection for the Paras last week, I begin my 42 weeks of Phase one training at Army Foundation College Harrogate sometime this year, after that, 13 weeks of P-Company, and I'll be a Para.

    Can't wait :)

  • 3 para cie 17 Belgium Yeh i like it .....

  • Paras are tough as nails. Best at what they do. I'm American by the way, so if you don't like or respect what I have to say., tough shit.

  • Looking forward to working next to these guys oneday when i pass out of Royal Marines Recruit Training soon!!

Not into the whos best or what ever! Both got pro's and cons but the RM was for me

  • @longforder well said.. both are extremely challenging and worthy!

  • @longforder

    Yes!

Both are VERY good at what they do and non of them would be able to do what the other one does :P

  • @PoppingSanta well in all fairness a royal can get his wings, but a para can only do an AACC and become a army commando, thats the only difference

  • @longforder that gives them the right to jump out of an aeroplane but that doesnt make them a para the paras are trained differently to the marines being a more swift and aggressive force

  • @frank6546 RM's are far superior to PARA's but thats because there training is and has been identified as the hardest millitary training in the western countries millitary (disregarding Special forces) so that means RM's are better than rangers, US marines, dutch marines, french marines and any other force disregarding tier 1 forces (special forces).

  • @TheGunner1324 I personally think that the French Foreign Legion training is on the same level if not more than the Royal Marines.

  • @IRELANDISMYCOUNTRY royal marines has been recongnised has having the hardest training of any of the european countrys not counting special forces, royal marine physical fitness is considered the hardest training around, i cant remember what it is but every force do trial on different courses in different countrys usually only special forces there is one in N.africa in the desert.

  • @IRELANDISMYCOUNTRY and one year they let the royal marine's particapate in this course and for this particle year and they came 4th, navy seal's are over rated they cgot the worst track record for forieng courses and have the worst record on this particle one, i forgot whats its called but anyway the royals just got beat by the SBS and SASR

  • @longforder I have more respect for people like you than a Para or Royal Marine who thinks they're the best.

  • @GhostX1200 americans cant do the things we do :)

  • My Grampa was a PARA, and now its my turn. But after that I want to move on to SAS. But the only thing about Major McGrath, is why didnt he move onto SAS?

  • Just a few quick questions to anyone who knows: if you fail P-Coy for whatever reason, are you already infantry trained and does that mean you can join a regular infantry batallion if you can't become a Para? Or are you chucked back into civvie street?

  • @PyschoticChimp

You will be infantry trained, you will go do your 6 months at catterick at the end you will have to pass P coy, i think thats the way it works

  • @TuPaCThADoN06 thanks for that, difficult to find information like that!

  • @InspirebyEndeavor

Well...have you tried the british army website you will find alot of the information you need on there

  • @TuPaCThADoN06 Yeh, I've scoured it, but stuff like that isn't presented as well as it could be (not that I could do any better!)!

  • @PyschoticChimp you have to go through regular training first, then you do p-coy ;)

  • i want to join the para soon id rather risk my life other than sitting in some boring job

  • nothin compared to the royal marines NOTHIN!!!

  • @keno2468 i would take you seriously, if you could spell. Royal Marines are completely different to paras

  • Great post. What's the music at 3:34? Cheers!

  • I really don't want to fail and go back to a shitty job! This will keep me going! Lol

  • i dont know weather to go for the royal marines or the paras i know there not the easiest but they are yhe best and it would be a honour to be one.

  • @xUKxASx you should have already made that choice. i heard about marines when i was like 11, paras when i was 16...i fell in love with paras and knew i wanted to join them

  • @iRozc Becouse the Paras are the best.

  • @GhostX1200 Why would an american dislike this??

  • @hunterscool111 jealousy

  • @GhostX1200 or Afgan :P

  • 2 words come to mind when the sgt, tells you to touch your toes when your standing on the parallel bars

  • @GhostX1200 yeah me too mate but there are some people in America (which are the immature ones) that say that The british are Losers...But i 100% disagree... i Love the British...And not only the fact that I'm an British overseas territory but because they are very peacefull... I am also planning to Join The Paratrooper regiment and i also have to say mate... i like the name you guys give the Americans (YANKS)... its very short but Catchy

  • @GhostX1200 dont say that... they were pobably lazy bastards that dont care and plus america loves the british

  • did this guy win toughguy competition ??

  • @khug1990 Don't know if that is true. But he was the "I know everything officer" out in Macedonia who drank from an unreliable water source (basics Sam) and went down with Diarrhea & Vomiting (D&V), which then spread like wildfire through the Peanut Factory where we were staying. As Paul Daniels say "Not alot of people know that". We do have a saying in the para's, Mong Fitness. Which Sam has plenty of that, that I can assure you. pmsl.

  • @2paraguns ahh right i just thought that he might of won the tough guy competition because of his shirt! xD and D&V sucks > . < and i guess ill have to get my "mong fitness" if i want to join para's xD awsome crazy bunch of lads :L

  • And there is all the motivation i need to become a para Officer. Thanks Major Sam McGrath

  • Great video, just wondering I few things. I'm 16, currently live in sweden, but I am british born etc etc. I am joining the paras in april / june (going to apply in about 2-3weeks). I am currently training at gym etc to get fitness up. Anyone have any tips to get my fitness sky-high so I can pass selection and p company and all the training?

  • @Clarke1337 I'm going through my recruitment process now mate, you should too, it takes months and in them months you can trai.. But what you want to do is join a gym and ask a trainer there, they will be able to explain in detail how to get fit, but there is a 99% chance of them telling you to just stay on the rowing machines/treadmills until you physically can't breathe lol. But you won't get in to the Paras in June, your recruitment will be 2-3 months.. I'll finish this in another comment lol

  • @Clarke1337 Your recruitment will take 2-3 months and then you will go to a Junior College (most likely Harrogate) which will take 42 weeks (it might be less).. So go try your recruitment as soon as you can because otherwise you might not get in as a junior, which you have to be 17 years 5 months or under to get in to.. But good luck on whatever you do, maybe ill bump in to you in ADSC or P-Company :D!

  • "we train for war; not exercise."

  • God bless all our soldiers, we salute you allxx

  • Good watch, even better watching once you've done it! Best of luck to you all; get on your trainers and as Sgt Kelly said: "run, run and run some more". 4 PARA!

  • Talk to a PTI at harrogate and get him to give you some tips. I'm in the para's and i wouldn't of described myself as super fit when i got to depot. The fitness is progressive and as long as your fit enough to get there and put in the effort while there you should be able to get through.

  • @kevconaghan PTI at Harrogate??? Your having a f**king laugh. Even the Para Reg PTI's there are a waste of time, not good enough to be a PTI in Depot.

I was a PTI at Depot and everyone that came up from Harrogate was not fit enough. Even their skills were shit. Best advice I can give anyone under the age of 17 that wants to join the Parachute Regiment is stay clear of Harrogate and wait till your old enough to join the regulars and go through PARA depot.

  • My grandad was a para, my dad was a para, my brother is a para and now it's my turn!

  • @Philwelch09 see you their brother

  • @TomTidy1 Yup ;)

  • @Philwelch09 Your turn for what?

  • @bakerj02 I feel like I'm stating the obvious here, but to join the Parachute reg.

  • @Philwelch09 oh ok. Good luck

  • @Philwelch09 Nice, mate! Good luck!

  • @MadamKouassi Thanks mate.

  • @Philwelch09 For your sake mate, don't fucking fail lol

  • @L999WAG Cheers mate.

  • @Philwelch09 gl mate ;)

  • @InspirebyEndeavor Cheers mate.

  • @Philwelch09 break the trend and become the next best thing.........A COMMANDO. i fear i have just started an apocalypse here lol

  • @Supernova031 I know the Marines are just a good as the Paras. It's a hard decision to make.

  • @Philwelch09

    How did you do bud?

  • @Philwelch09 And are you a para now???

  • @Philwelch09 "Better my mother a whore, than my dad a craphat."

It's paraphrased to an even greater level of ally.

  • im hoping to join the parachute regiment .. im currently at AFC Harrogate but i realise that AFC will not get my fitness to the required standard for Catterick ... im going to start smashing myself with Phis

If you have any tips id be more than greatful.

  • @SamiDan09

probs what you already know: run up hills, gradually stick weight on your back, and just do it for at least an hour.. nevermind running through all of it, because the hills will fuck you up, but keep marching if you have to slow down. then build up time and then weight eventually. btw im not a para, but im joinin the RE and hope to be in 23 eng regt. which is airborne. its worked for me, my 1.5 mile time went down by 30 seconds in about 2 months since i slung weight on me back ;)

  • @soldierside365 What a load of shit from a typical "potential" CRAP HAT. There is a difference between 23 Regt and the Parachute Regiment, dickhead. 30 seconds in 2 months, you should be ashamed. If your going to give advice then give it to the people that want to join your shit cap badge.

  • @2paraguns

im now hoping to join para reg actually. i apologize out of respect for you and the reg. ive sobered up since 4 months ago.

  • @SamiDan09

you'll need to be super fit when you leave Harrogate, top of your Pl, as Depot Para will be an almighty shock, you're treated with kid gloves at AFC, those gloves come off (to an extent) at Catterick.

The lack of fitness of soldiers from Harrogate is what is always picked up by the Pl Staff at Para Depot.

    All the best mate

  • @SamiDan09 Do not listen to a word soldierside365 has wrote. I was a Para Reg PTI at Catterick, and I'm still serving (C/Sgt). If you wanted to join The Parachute Regiment then the worst thing you did was go to Harrogate. But hey, we have all made mistakes. Your there now so lets deal with it. What phucoff1 has said is good advice. You need to be one of the top 3-4 people in your platoon. Then when you get to depot don't be disappointed if you put back to catch up with fitness.

  • @SamiDan09 The PTI's and staff at depot will physically and metally get you ready for P Company. Good luck and keep on in there.

  • Much respect to the PARAS
