Thanks for uploading ! It all boils down to whether it is true that all the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of lives killed and tortured as a result of Western policies significantly contributed to lessening the chance of a nuclear war. (i'm certain that was not the only reasons, money & greed must have been part of it) but the overall reasoning for the subversion, wars, coups and general mayhem, was, I can only suppose, to prevent a nuclear war.

@Michthemitch What I can't fathom is why the governor of California be talking about foreign policy. Since when do governors speak on foreign policy? Don't they have enough to do in their states? Much better would have been Richard Nixon -- he held no political office in 1967 and had some experience in foreign policy.
For this debate Reagan and Kennedy were chosen to debate the politics of their respective parties. Who knows what reasons the leadership had for choosing Reagan. He was in WW2 as a movie and propaganda maker due to poor vision, he was eloquent. I think that , plus maybe people liked his attitude.
Funny coincidence, or irony, but the student's commentary is as arrogant as his voice and tone. Perhaps there were so many arrogant people with such accent that I've come to associate it with arrogance.
@StopFear Reagan's economy was mediocore and shitty. He was the worst president of all time, because his insane policies directly lead to the mediocore growth and wealth disparity that has plagued the past 30 years. The middle class has actually gone backwards in wealth, for the first time in American history. Thanks to Reagan, and his followers, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, and Obama. We haven't had a liberal president since Truman. We haven't had a sane president since Eisenhower.
@Watermark0n I'm pretty liberal, but I think most of your claims are exaggerated. Sure, Reagan may be over-romanticized, but he's not nearly as bad as Andrew Johnson, who vetoed civil rights legislation, and said, "This is a country for white men, and by God, as long as I am President, it shall be a government for white men." Also, your claim that the middle class has gone backwards in wealth over the last 30 years is false. Continued in my next post.
@Watermark0n After-tax median income has grown 25% and 16% for the middle and bottom fifths respectively since 1979. The Clinton presidency saw the median income peak at $53,252, despite the accelerating wealth disparity. However, you are correct that since the dot-com crash, the median income has declined. Of course, if you have a different point of view, I'd love to hear it.
That movie Bobby was total garbage. Look it's sad about what happened to RFK, but he would of been a horrible president. Another trust fund child who knew nothing besides how to look pretty. Reagan here crushed him in this debate.
This is a remarkable video and amazing quality almost like live...very Inspiring men your Reagan and Robert Kennedy. Everyone actually listen to one of the other! Thank you so much for sharing this "live" look into a moment in time!!!
@DavidHenesy Bobby Kennedy was indeed a great leader, but Reagan was nothing but a great actor that played the role of a great leader convincingly. He used this ability to do a great deal of damage to the world and was therefore decidedly evil.
I'm looking at the comments and it seems that we still refuse to acknowledge the fuck up that was the Vietnam War. Now look at the fuck up in Iraq and Afghanistan...
@wangsta25 should be added that Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan have always been fucked up countries with or without an American presence. And they always will be. Cause ultimately every country is just like its population. Civilized populations sooner or later will produce a safe and prosperous country, regardless of their bloody history, like Sweden or Germany. Boors, however, will always be boors.
@sondano Your right. Why is it that countries with incredible potential, and natural wealth, mineral, land excellent for growing, and so on continue to produce ruthless dictators who shit all over their own people?
@Flex52able usually you find an answer to that question if you look at the average IQ
it's just not the politically correct thing to do so they don't talk about it
the well-developed democratic Israel and the surrounding astonishly primitive Arab world is an excellent demostration of that disparity . Even oil rich Arabic countries cannot develop without brainpower from Europe, Japan and North America
@DTD110865 The Bible and the New Testament are the Word of GOD and Christianity.
Jesus Christ did not start a Religion called anything, much less Catholicism.
Men create "Religions", GOD is just GOD.
Constantine the Great The First Holy Roman Emperor created "Catholicism" in 325 AD at the Council of Nicaea. It's purpose was political, not Spiritual or "Religious".
He merged Christianity with Pantheism.
Like I said you've never read the Bible.
I was raised Catholic and attended Catholic School.
It's a damn shame Obama has kept constantly kissing Republican asses by over-praising Reagan and passing a record-breaking tax cut into law with that Stimulus package. The slimy Daley machine of Chicago must be destroyed in same manner Tammany Hall was.
Reagan was quite inaccurate and stupid. Diem was quite corrupt and he was reason why South Vietnam was easy to beat. Even after he was killed in 1963, South Vietnam continued to follow his corrupt shadow. For those interested, I suggest you the book Nam. Bobby Kennedy was quite accurate to admit mistakes and he would've made a great president. Reagan changed from a straight-minded New Deal Democrat to an absent-minded Conservative Republican through his wife Nancy.
Diem was overthrown in 1963, so the reds couldn't use him as an excuse. The REAL reason South Vietnam was easy to beat was because the reds were able to trick the world into believing South Vietnam was illegitimate, and that the Viet Cong had nothing to do with North Vietnam. In reality, the descendents of South Vietnam were the first to fight against colonial rule, and the VC were a creation of Hanoi to expand communist tyranny into the south.
Extremely true....but you would never get some of these morons to accept the truth....they still blindly see Communisim as they saw it back then....as a morally acceptable government despite its tyranny. Every generation has these idiots and we still have them today in the form of people who refuse to admit Islamo-Facism is a threat. It would be funny except for the fact that these morons' naivete' make our world more dangerous and endanger us besides themselves.
@DTD110865 You misunderstood what I meant. I was implying that Diem's shadow of corruption was still cast over South Vietnam even after his death. That is one reason why North Vietnam was able to build propaganda against it's neighbor You should try to find a copy of the book Nam, which describes South Vietnam from a soldier's own eyewitness account. Communism is a huge poison, but so is corruption. I order to successfully promote democracy, you must show how just it is
RFK gave the best response here. The British guy didnt address the point about also criticising the North indicating that is a pro-communist. Reagan's response was dismissive
I don't understand why the United States gets involved in other countries affairs? Why do we think we have the answer? They just end up hating us in the end and they come back here to live because our government wrecked their country and they abuse the citizens living here and rob the taxpayers. So the people in this country are getting screwed by both their government and other countries.
@stayAU Well I tell you most people in our country(Australia) are grateful the US intervened and saved us in World War Two. And most European nations should be grateful for their liberation by the US directly/indirectly from Nazism and Communism in the last century. Any time the US tries to be isolationist they get bombed or attacked (1941 and 2001) so its not like you guys have a choice. As soon as you try to stay out you get attacked.
@DTD110865 Right, so we invaded Nicaragua in the 1930s, Haiti 50 times, the Dominican Republic in 1965, we overthrew the governments of Brazil, Guatemala, Chile etc., and replaced them with neo-Nazi dictatorships to stop tiny Cuba? what a joke.
We also invaded Nicaragua in the 1920's and guess who stated that war; Augusto César Sandino, a communist general who turned on the government. "Tiny Cuba" my ass! Cuba was starting and backing communist wars all over the third world, including tyhe Sandinistas, whio thmselves backed red army thugs from Panama to Mexico!
@DTD110865 I wouldn't exactly say Sandino was a Communist. His inspiration came from Revolutionary Mexico. The reason he also warred was because the compromise government in 1927 wasn't constitutionally elected and our troops occupied Nicaragua to train the newly-formed Nicaraguan National Guard. I do agree with the assertion that Sandino was quite eccentric, as our troops were mainly there to train and the government was only a temporary compromise, but I wouldn't exactly label him evil
@DTD110865 The Communists were already in Washington DC, on the Hill and the Pentagon and the Alphabet Agencies since before WW ll. J McCarthy wasn't nuts.
Americans unknowingly financed both sides of the Cold War. The Rothschilds of the "Federal Reserve" gave the USSR $400M of our money to make arms for the Viet Cong.
This is about the transfer of America Wealth and Sovereignty to the Super Elite thru the
@DTD110865 The people who wanted SOPA pirated themselves to get it.
Look. You are Dumb by choice. Fine.
We don't need to argue about what can't allow your self to accept.
The "Federal Government, INC" has not worked FOR the American People for over a hundred years. What you are witnessing is the conclusion of "Agenda 21".
America will be a memory within 10 years. Congratulate yourself. You won!
I'm not dumb. You're just linking topics that have nothing to do with one another for your paranoid fantasies about some secret societies you think are trying to take the country down.
Yeah, I've seen the looney videos you tried to show me. When you start making BS about "Zionist Jews" I can see just how far removed from reality you truly are.
@DTD110865 Look up the Alumbrados, the Sabbatean Frankists and the creation of the Illuminati by the Jesuits placing Dr Weishaupt as their front man.
The Political Zionists are pawns that will ultimately be destroyed by their greed. The pagan Papalcy will see to it. The Vatican has owned the British Isles since Council of Trent. And the Japan's, and ... Christ told us his Kingdom was not of this World.
Catholicism has zero to do with Christianity or the Bible. Constantine was a Pagan.
@DTD110865 The complaint about "Illuminati" interference was filed by the State of California's Department of Education in 1953.
It, and the 1952 report that became a book by Congressman Paul S Shafer entitled " The Turning of the Tides", spurred the creation of the Reece Commission. It's chief investigator was Mr Norman P Dodd. His interview with author G Edward Griffin in 1982 on the Non Profit Foundations details how the US Education System was corrupted by the Elite.
That book was witten by Paul "W." Shafer. I just downloaded a PDF copy of the book and I find a lot (though notn all)of the accusations to be quite far-fetched.
@DTD110865 maybe you should read "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America" by Charlote Iserbyt, President Ronald Reagan's Ass't Secretary of Education.
It Sold Out. The Second Edition was just released.
Think for yourself
You've been trained to accept "Authority" as truth, instead of truth as the authority.
"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."
@DTD110865 Hell, I didn't forget anything. Ford built Tank Factories for the Germans and made a bundle. He even demanded to be reimbursed for them after the War when they were bombed to pieces, and he wanted to retool it for Automobiles.
Rockefeller's S.O., sold Fritz Thyssen of IG Farben the fuel additive to make it possible for German bombers to make it to London. Notice the Sovereign Financial Square Mile of the British Crown was never touched.
Fritz Thyssen's investments began before the Third Reich rose to power, and he turned against the Nazis after Kristallnacht, and fled to France, only to be busted by the Third Reich again when Hitler took over. Thyssen may've been conservative, but he was no Nazi. Besides that, Hitler's war machine was started with or without foregin investments. Get your facts straight.
@DTD110865 B'wah! B'wah I can't handle all this real information. B'wah!
"Label calling" makes you an expert in absolutely nothing. It's the stamp of a poorly informed individual who cannot process large amounts of seemingly disconnected data.
Keep sucking down Fluoride and Aspartame. You won't be around that long to spread your fractured programming. This is a good thing. Thank you again for revealing to all of us how lost you are.
@DTD110865 What our government should've done was expand the influence of Costa Rican President Jose Figueres Ferrer across Latin America. He made Costa Rica Latin America's first pure democracy in 1948
That might've been okay if he was able to help the people of Central America resist groups communist thugs like the Sandinistas. He had to ask for help from the Organization of American States to defend his country against the Somoza regime in the 1950's because he abolished his own military in the 1940's.
@DTD110865 That's one reason why Somoza never should have been in power in the first place. He and Rafael Trujillo of the Dominican Republic were products of mishandled occupations. Theodore Roosevelt's foreign policy of peace preserving military occupations was quite wise, but was turned into a joke in the 1920's. Harding, Coolidge and Hoover wanted to remain neutral and focused on leaving the occupied nations and developing just their military rather than their society or economy
@DTD110865 It was a shame that the Great Depression also forced us to preserve a more "non-imperialist" image, remain more neutral and let dictators extend their rule over Latin America. Ferrer even pointed that out. What you also wrote about Ferrer abolishing Costa Rica's military also was the point I was making earlier. We should've had other Latin America nations follow Costa Rica's lead, especially the smaller ones.
@SuperTruth77 haha are you trying to get attention? Not picking a fight but most of these guys are consistently ranked in the BOTTOM 5 by historians (people who know their shit).
@AndrewMann552 yeah, right, Reagan was an oppressor of the Irish in N. Ireland, maybe Thatcher, but she was needed for other things(as was Churchill) and didn't approve of her attempted assassination. I was referring inparticular, of generations of past English oppressors. JFK and Bobby should have had the courage to invade or give air support in 61 in Cuba.I don't approve of all US actions in Central American through the years, esp supporting dictators, though sometimes this had to be done.
Ronald Reagan endorsed Ron Paul for congress and loved him and his wife. I'm voting for Ron Paul because I know Reagan would endorse him today. God Bless you Reagan
@Gromitdog1 Pretty sure he's not looking at a teleprompter... it seems he is looking into the camera and then at the television that shows the guys who is asking the question...
The left wing was embedded in the news media very well during that period of time. And it got steadily worse after the 1960s. As you can see, the obnoxious Brit ranted on ad nauseum with his opinion and couldn't care less about the answers from the candidates, criticized the elections in South Vietnam, and gave a free pass to the brutality and homicides of the Viet Cong and the maniacs in North Vietnam. There is nothing new under the sun.
That English kid is typical of college kids: huffy and full of righteous indignation but only intellectually. Listen to Reagan and RFK: both calm, highly versed in their subjects, and, interestingly enough, unwilling to get as angry as this English tit.
I find this video remarkable mostly for how it contrasts to any kind of similar media presentation today. First, you won't hear a question like this at any presidential forum today (that cites installation of undemocratic regimes). Second, Reagan looks like he is with fact-finders but the standard for both of them is so high above what's expected today. Reagan sounds like a college professor in 2011 reality. The dumbification of the USA is fascinating, deliberate + frightening.
GM. I am very sorry, if I am unfair with some of Reagan followers. Here I find two personalities. Reagan seems to be artificial. From that you can infer his political views and ideology. Robert, seems to be just as a normal human being, having a conversation. Robert is less interested in arguing or acting aggressively, Reagan sometimes seems to be aggressive. Being wright however is not about imposing a point of view, is about speak with the truth. That is maybe the reason why R was killed.E.B.R
Defending the rigged referendum which approved Diem is like defending the election of Saddam Hussein in which he won 100% of the vote. It's really impossible to believe that Regan was this deluded - he was simply contemptuous of democracy.
@alphamongrel Reagan was a Republican and had become one after the 1960 election. Reagan asked Nixon if he wanted to change parties and Nixon, ha ha, said Reagan was more useful as a Democrat supporting a Republican. By 1967, Reagan was Governor of California, having won election in 1966.
Both of these men come across very well here. Reagan is informed and articulate. Kennedy is thoughtful and balanced. They both handled a questioner who I think was unreasonable. This was a good broadcast.
Romney is the strongest GOP candidate to challenge President Obama, but he's still weak. Newt and Romney supported a health insurance mandate at one point in time. Therefore, whichever one squares off against Obama will have to concede that ObamaCare is the very thing they've endorsed for years.
Say what you want about Newt -- and, yes, he had "baggage," but who among us doesn't -- but at least he doesn't consistently recite the same talking points in every debate. He applies critical-thinking analysis to every question and responds with answers based not on a canned response, but instead with a specific and direct answer. I'm so tired of hearing talking- point responses.

1:30 Diem's election had more fraud than JFK's.
1:50 Whenever a politician says "military advisor" he means "green berets".
2:25 6 million seems like an over-estimate, but the concentration camps were very real.
3:10 JFK probably didn't organize Diem's assassination, but he did withdraw America's support of Diem. Two days later DIem was assassinated.
6:45 A politician being honest.
8:30 The same politician caught being honest in a two minute span. No wonder he was assassinated.

Watermark0n 6 days ago
@Watermark0n I'm pretty liberal, but I think most of your claims are exaggerated. Sure, Reagan may be over-romanticized, but he's not nearly as bad as Andrew Johnson, who vetoed civil rights legislation, and said, "This is a country for white men, and by God, as long as I am President, it shall be a government for white men." Also, your claim that the middle class has gone backwards in wealth over the last 30 years is false. Continued in my next post.
MagicByEli 4 days ago
@Watermark0n After-tax median income has grown 25% and 16% for the middle and bottom fifths respectively since 1979. The Clinton presidency saw the median income peak at $53,252, despite the accelerating wealth disparity. However, you are correct that since the dot-com crash, the median income has declined. Of course, if you have a different point of view, I'd love to hear it.

@wangsta25 should be added that Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan have always been fucked up countries with or without an American presence. And they always will be.

Reagan changed from a straight-minded New Deal Democrat to an absent-minded Conservative Republican through his wife Nancy.
hulkyone 2 weeks ago
@hulkyone

ScooterpupReljac 2 weeks ago
@DTD110865 You misunderstood what I meant. I was implying that Diem's shadow of corruption was still cast over South Vietnam even after his death. DTD110865 2 weeks ago

It, and the 1952 report that became a book by Congressman Paul S Shafer entitled " The Turning of the Tides", spurred the creation of the Reece Commission. Fritz Thyssen's investments began before the Third Reich rose to power, and he turned against the Nazis after Kristallnacht, and fled to France, only to be busted by the Third Reich again when Hitler took over. 1tonykirk 2 weeks ago
@hulkyone
That might've been okay if he was able to help the people of Central America resist groups communist thugs like the Sandinistas. He had to ask for help from the Organization of American States to defend his country against the Somoza regime in the 1950's because he abolished his own military in the 1940's.
DTD110865 2 weeks ago
@DTD110865 That's one reason why Somoza never should have been in power in the first place. He and Rafael Trujillo of the Dominican Republic were products of mishandled occupations. Theodore Roosevelt's foreign policy of peace preserving military occupations was quite wise, but was turned into a joke in the 1920's. Harding, Coolidge and Hoover wanted to remain neutral and focused on leaving the occupied nations and developing just their military rather than their society or economy
hulkyone 2 weeks ago
@DTD110865 It was a shame that the Great Depression also forced us to preserve a more "non-imperialist" image, remain more neutral and let dictators extend their rule over Latin America. Ferrer even pointed that out. What you also wrote about Ferrer abolishing Costa Rica's military also was the point I was making earlier. We should've had other Latin America nations follow Costa Rica's lead, especially the smaller ones.
