wow, since so many tubers have cool memories on this, I guess I share one too. I saw Journey w/ the Babys May 80. obstructive view seats. nothing was obstructive at all. I saw Greg and Neil so clear and the whole show was electrifying not to mention so many pretty girls. I wore my Tee til the color was no more. That year also I brought my first real guitar...a Hondo 2 LP knock off, lol. This album rocks, not one bad song at all.
Listening to this album on an 8-track, sitting on the top of a red mustang with Mark O at 15, drinking beer and making out with him as the waves tap the shore in Bay City MI. My first date and one of my top three in my life.
A very beautiful Journey song with lovely lyrics. Steve always sounded to me like he meant what he was singing. The sincerity in his voice is what sold me on Journey. Bette Midler has this same quality in her voice. I wish I had been lucky enough to meet Steve Perry or at least go to a Journey concert. "Sigh"
People talk so much about SP and SA and AP but damn...how about NS? Herbie said it...there are few people (if any) in the world who can write and play the way he does. I only wish that the one time I met him he wasn't shitfaced...but thankfully he seems to have conquered even that humongeous demon. Great job Neal! Thank you for keeping the Journey alive!
Hey Falcon, Journey's Infinity album came out in '78. My gf at the time & I went to the record store(yes, I said record store) and bought the album. Then we went back to her apartment, drank a little wine, smoked a little weed and made love all night to this album. It still brings a smile to my face, a tear to my eye and a bit of a bulge behind the old zipper.
Close your eyes and take a Journey back into time.... without a care in the world, cruzin to Journey and all the great music of the 80's all night long... staying up till dawn and sleeping till 3, only to do it all over again the next night!!
@FALCON21301 I sound just like you!!!! I thought i was the only vampire, (not literally), out there! Careful this stuff is addictive, especially combined with greens & beers.
the plan for my life is to finish my time in college baseball, get drafted by the SF Giants, and meet Steve Perry. Baseball is lame, but Steve Perry is the best
They should pay you for the service you are providing... getting to hear these songs from my childhood again after so many years has inspired my to buy the CDs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steve Perry provided the last missing piece to a fully formed sound, as Journey's first album clearly shows, the rich and layered sound, the brilliant arrangements. Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, Ross Valory, Aynsley Dunbar and Steve Perry... group effort, with stunningly beautiful results.
This song is one of my alltime favs! Being i grew up listening to Journey since the early 70's, you can't help but fall in love with song. Steve's voice just makes me feel all warm inside! I had Winds of March/Opened the Door on my playlist & when i went to play them, my daily dose of these 2 beautifully mastered songs, YouTube said they were no longer available. I panicked! Luckily i found another one to add to my playlist. Journey IS my favorite band of alltime! Love you always,Steve! <3
@eucutta1 Ha ha. Laughing with ya. I first saw them in a small gig around '77-'78. They were in their first formation w/o SP before the show. They did a pre-SP set. Then announced they had a Special Guest, and out walked Perry. We thought after a song or two. This is Pop! We grew to like the new incarnation and saw them any times. The chicks really dug them. Peace.
this is from the 70s
It's a hidden gem, for sure — one of my favorite Journey songs. I had been a Journey fan for years before I discovered it in 1987.
