The Japs have done us in already. QRIO Sony, Asimo Honda,Toyota Violyn-player. The Nasa robot looks like the "robot " presented in the 1939 New York Worlds fair! hAHA

at first i wasn't going to fear it because of the lack of legs but then the fact that it will have modular addons just frightens me. what if some mad scientists adds modular crab claws and a jet-pack to it? what will we do then???

@ChronicMist no, ASIMO has more mobility in any given joint than robonaut 2 and can perform autonomous tasks and learn on its own. Robonaut 2 is built for durability and remote presence. They both have their ups and downs and cannot be compared due to the fact that they were designed for different tasks. But give Robonaut 2 a dress and a fleshlight module and it will sell well :D

@ExploringBeyond asimo is 5 years old dude. and robonaut2 is just half-way done and it's only a torso, so of course it's not as mobile as asimo, yet. and remember that asimo is a prototype made by a company to show off their technological power. that's it. this robot is 50 more expensive and it's made to walk on the freakin moon. just look at the complexity of the hands compared to asimo. can asimo do that? nope

@ChronicMist I am only saying that you can't compare a robot to another if they are designed to do different tasks. It's like comparing ASIMO to a predator drone, you just can't do that. You say with confidence that robonaut2 is going to the moon but when? There are no planned moon missions anytime soon, and the moon has a much lower gravity that earth's. Again, they are built for different uses and the only reason GM got the contact is because of the bailout.
