From the time I was a child, I always wondered why no one in America talked about the Philippine-American war. The one place I heard about it? From Mark Twain's writings. The fact that no one here remembers that horrible occupation(probably being overshadowed by Japanese occupation memories) really reflects how ridiculous our inability to learn from past mistakes is, as opposed to our ability to keep REPEATING past mistakes.

come on now. Filipinos still wish they were slaves of america. For instance why is it filipinos in hawaii rather be considered hawaiian than filipino? What about the lie "im not asian, im a pacific islander!!" This is just denial of ASIAN heritage and an excuse to sound more exotic to Americans. If we are islanders, I never hearD about filipino beach culture. My favorite one is Taglish. The worst style of grammar in english and tagalog. It's supported by the media and the education.
Everything you jsut stated could be summed up in 1 word: "Colonialization". After 400+ yrs, weve developed a colonial mentality in which we consiously and unconsiously put down anything Filipino. But as for the Asian issue, colonial opression and education has left us with ever-growing identity crisis, esp if you live in the US.
like Spain and America themselves the PI culture has been bastardized. The Moors left thier mark on Spain and the rest of the world has left it's mark on the US. The Philippine culture lies within its Malayasian blood. The unity of the Philippines, Malayasia, Indonesia and the south east Asian mainland is crucial in order for all the countries to prosper in todays market. We are Malay the rest was brought by the invaders.
And beach culture?lol what? Yes, lets live on the beach where other kingdoms/tribes and esp other nations can destroy us in one fell swoop..lol.dude no1 lives on the beach except for fishermen.

Get the facts ulit.
López de Villalobos in honour king Philip he named Philippine. They were peaceful people, extent knowledge ko 'to.
sa totoo, wala akong ginawang homework about sa History ng Pilipinas. i dont know sa sinabi mo. kasi sa pag kakaalam ko napaka-theory sa sinasabi mo. yah I guess meron ring evidence ang sinasabi mo. but as far as I know wala pa kasi akong nabasa or any facts that say such things sa sinabi mo. pero i would be Glad if you give me any referrence sa sinasabi mo. sige maraming salamat sa previous comments!
read migration in world history by patrick manning as one reference which covers 3,000 BCE to 500 CE. a word of caution though. from whats now known as yunnan, china could be our austronesian starting point until formosa and whats later known as the philippines. the austronesians are not chinese by culture or by race to make it clear. the malay peninsula and indonesia was settled by our ancestors until their descendants made a reverse migration in some of the islands of the philippines later.

I romanticise about precolonial Philippines. It was an egalitatian culture, both women and men warriors, male and female shamans, tatoos and superstitions of the spirit world!
Radically thinking though, there's even a bigger problem than the Spanish colonization, by which I mean the imperialism by the U.S. Everyone seems to always remember the Spanish "messing up" the Philippines, but people always forget about how the U.S. played an even bigger role in erasing the "Philippine culture". Still, great effort to a360knowledge for putting this out there.
bobo ka pre di taong tabon ang mga filipino nung 1400's may sarili tayong linguahe at malulupit armas natin nun wala nga nagawa sina magellan kahit buho lang. saka sinoba nakaimbento nang pulbora intsik di ba? sino nauna sa pinas intsik o kastila? di tayo gumagawa nang baril kasi di pa natin kailangan nung panahon na yun sapat na ang tabak at sibat bihira pa masamang tao
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the clips in the end seemed to be old scripted footage.
well this is not a filipino history video, its just a video of one of the many problems of the filipinos, which is colonialism, which began with the spanish colonization.
very inspirational video. question. those clips at the end where soldiers were shooting in a trench, were those real? or is it just a scripted presentation long time ago?

Dapat mag improve ang income ng bansa
hindi uubra ang $80B natin
gusto nyong yumaman ang Pilipinas
Una: Let's aim for atleast $100 -$200

Radically thinking though, there's even a bigger problem than the Spanish colonization, by which I mean the imperialism by the U.S. Everyone seems to always remember the Spanish "messing up" the Philippines, but people always forget about how the U.S. played an even bigger role in erasing the "Philippine culture". Still, great effort to a360knowledge for putting this out there.

Siyempre biruin mo, mahigit 300taon tayung walang laya
Ang panahon ng Kastila ang matindi
kaya talagang hindi ito pwedeng kalimutan
tama ka, naging tao tayu nuon, bago paman ung Kastila
Gusto nyo bang pag-usapan ung mga taong tabon?
^_^ this is my reply to Tailo

bobo ka pre di taong tabon ang mga filipino nung 1400's may sarili tayong linguahe at malulupit armas natin nun wala nga nagawa sina magellan kahit buho lang. saka sinoba nakaimbento nang pulbora intsik di ba? sino nauna sa pinas intsik o kastila? di tayo gumagawa nang baril kasi di pa natin kailangan nung panahon na yun sapat na ang tabak at sibat bihira pa masamang tao

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the clips in the end seemed to be old scripted footage.

well this is not a filipino history video, its just a video of one of the many problems of the filipinos, which is colonialism, which began with the spanish colonization.
