  • These train run on electric right?! Wont the rain if there is any affect the track?

  • Awesome!

  • how do the trains work

is there a computer to keep them in order

  • @TheCoastermann - Computers may be used to control the trains today, but Bekonscot has been around for decades, way longer than PCs. One of my school friends visited it in the 1970s.

  • Wow. this was so fun to watch. :D I'd so love a garden railway like that...but I nu has the money for it. D: *goes lookit the website*

  • HOLY CRAP! are the trains scycronized so they wait in the loops or are they controlled individually? How much power does it take to run that many trains on such a long distance?

  • Great Video.

I keep coming back to watch.

I guess that the person falling on the platform will probably be injured in the fall?

    RegWhelan.info

  • BRILLIANT !

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • how do you guys keep from not hitting each other lol

  • Excelente trabajo amigo me encanto tu video y mas me encantaria visitar tu jardin y verlo en persona...

  • Indeed, the Brits are masters in train modelling...this is just one piece of genius!

  • where is this located?

  • meraviglio

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • Was that a point set incorrectly at 3:44?

  • Really cool video! I will put to my favorites

  • superb.

really liked the scale 60ft sections at 2:55 for that realistic clickety clack sound.

    what a piece of engineering.

  • Amazing railway well done

  • This is REALLY amazing. So beautiful layout <3

  • Some of those line-side trees need to be pruned a little!

  • you Brits are freaking insane geniouses on Trains, both modelistic and real too!

  • @awfulguitarplucker Naaaah, I would give that title to the Germans, they invented it, both actually.

  • @awfulguitarplucker - Ha ha, Italy had Lima, who made some great model railway stock. That was praise indeed, your comment. ^_^

  • @beowulf3075 oh yes indeed! LIMA models stock made my childhood so bad! so many memoures *___*

  • where is it and those trains must do some miles everday :O

  • Great layout. Do you have a team of trained Guinea pigs to retrieve the trains should they derail in the tunnels?

  • That is excellent! Well done

  • I am an N Scaler but found this to be a fantastic layout !!!!!!!

    Mike Fifer

  • Very nice ride, I love model railways, but where are the signals controlling the movements?

  • I want it!!

  • wow THAT IS AMAZING what is the loco were on?

  • All it needs are some Jubilee Dancers and a 'hat and cane' act!

  • I love Bekonscot - I used to go as a child in the 70s, and I recently had the pleasure of taking my son there and observing the same joy in him that I felt at his age (and still do!). This is amazing footage - I'm not sure I have the words for how much I love this!

  • thanks for the ride ill be taking a few more.

  • Sounds so real!

  • what a super layout. many thanks for sharing . looks like many happy hours of hard work will pop up to look at layout in comming months

  • That is amazing!

  • super!!!!!!

  • you are screwed if a train derails inside manor house tunnels

  • great!!!!

  • code 100 or 83??

  • you need to build a car with powered clippers on it to trim the hedges up.

  • great footage and a fantastic model railway, however i get so caught up in the travel i often forgot that it was a model railway and not a real train drive, this dawned on me when a few times turning a corner and these big massive giant humans would appear gazing down causing for a second or two a freaky moment lol, cool clip, loved it.

  • There's a buzz about model railways you don't get from anything else

  • ...amazing! Such beautiful track work -and the real sound of the rails(!) Marvelous!

  • That is totally mind blowing. The shrub and grass maintenance looks labor intense but it is a real jaw dropper.

  • I'm in love with this place!!! Wouldn't you give anything to actually be in the cab?

  • wow best thing i have seen in ages!!!

  • Is that not so fantastic, or what!

  • its not woring

  • This is truly fantastic! Time for another trip across the pond!

  • AMAZING !

  • Amazing garden railway man. It looks beautiful ^^

  • love the kids reaction at 0:32, thats what this hobby is all about, making your kids happy!

  • Excellent video

this place is a public park where you pay to get in to see the trains??

    the scale is 00??

    greeting

    gus

  • 5 people got scared the train would wreck

  • Which train was used to hold the camera in this video?

    Great video by the way

  • i am absolutely gobsmacked at how good this is, so much effort!!

  • need to do some trimming on those bushes :)

  • GREAT!!!

  • I felt like I was a puny little guy riding an amazing railway trough the land of giants!

  • Whats with all the giants?

  • how many miles does each train travel on a daily basis?

  • Is this 00?

  • do the trains usually run automatically/ and can they be controlled by hand or manually from a control shed?

  • Visited yesterday ~ fantastic place

  • That is just stunning! I want a job! :-)

  • So what exactly is the primary engine and load that takes the full loop?

  • 1 Gauge???

    When was this built?

  • The only thing that is a shame is the scale differences between the railway and the village. But I still love it!

  • if this place really existed i would want to live there!

  • Haha! At 4:22 the man on the platform to the left is defying gravity!

  • Look out for the giants

  • That is awesome thank you very much we really enjoyed this video

  • This is just one of the coolest videos I've seen on YouTube. Really wasn't expecting to say that, or for this to be this good. Amazing!

  • Oh.. Scale mile, not square mile

  • Fantastic to see ! Great !

  • Thoroughly enjoyed the ride! thanks * * * * *

  • Wow that's amazing

  • i love eletric trains and the people who made and run this place kicks ass and sould be very pround of there selves

  • this is awesome!

  • What happens if a train derails?

  • wat scale proportion is this 1.20 1.256

  • hi from australia l like the idea of u modelliing our harbour bridge

    looks good

    and lovely layout

    cheers

could you watch my videos on my old account jmssschooner then watch the layout on this channel

9.5/10 need to trim the trees when u do that its 10

  • epic vid, I just wish there were more of these in the world

  • that is so sweet

  • that is just amazing so big well done to everyone envolved!

  • Did you build that by yourself?

  • Brilliant, thanks a lot.

  • These towns are infested with giants.

  • Absolutely excellent!

  • incredible!

  • What a work of art.

  • if carlsberg did model train layouts, it probably wouldnt get better thn this 1!

  • at 4:30 if the bridge was based on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, then why wasnt there a road in the middle and tracks on the outside? Sorry for being picky :P

  • @trainfan761 Well if you want to nitpick - why isn't the bridge 15.7 metres long and 1.54 metres (give or take) wide, to be the correct scale in Gauge 1? =P

Of course, the criticism is completely weightless. I drive trains over the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a living - I like this bridge better! Scale 70mph or so beats the 40km/h (up) and 55km/h (down) we're restricted to!

I keep coming back to this vid every few months - superb job, and if I ever get to the UK I'll have to visit this place!

  • @nadnerb2k If I get to the UK aswell I want to go to this place and yeah i do agree with you because those restrictions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge are annoying. It would be good if people thought from a train drivers perspective and put the road on the outside and the tracks in the middle.

  • All I can say is WOW! And all hand built. Incredible.

    Cheers

  • watching this for my third straight time. Incredible.

  • G.K Chesterton, I wonder if thats named after the village i live in

  • @ididi9 Gilbert Keith Chesterton, lived and died in Beaconsfield 14th June 1936. You will find it is probably him the train is named after NOT a village in Staffordshire

  • That really is STUNNING!

  • A very nice layout. I really enjoyed the cab ride. Thumbs up! :)

  • I like the way people look like giants :D

  • Fantastic !! Just fantastic, have to watch it again !

  • well done to the creators of that awesome layout, must take a lot of maintenance,

  • ABSOLUTLY INCREDIBLE!!,..Thanx for posting sharing.

  • Amazing model railway!

  • This is really great but I have one grave misgiving. If that's a drivers eye view I don't want to be a driver on your system. I prefer to be a bit further removed from the action.

  • at 0:19 the kid in the blue t-shirt throws a stone at the train and JUST misses.......

    naughty boy LOL

  • kids freaking out weeeeeee

  • wOw ths amazing

  • 4:30 points set wrong way lol

  • @milessissling. Yes, several of the trailing points are set for the other line.

They are obviously spring operated and this is common practice on exhibition layouts. What a layout, magnificent, something to be really proud of.

  • Thanks for posting this. What a beautiful video!!! :)

  • after 7:00 into it, I get freaked out by all the giants walking around...

  • Real nice scale botany.

  • lol the kid at the start throws a stone at a very expensive train

  • I like how this track is surrounded by wegetation, instead of plain sand like some tracks are.

  • My question is, how many feet(meters ) is the track?? looks like we only saw a small portion of the overall track... Love the track and all the vegetation.. Beautiful!!!

  • This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO C O O L !!!

  • I love the sound of the train going over the rail joints. Whereabouts on Google Earth can I find it, Latitude and Longitude?

  • Truly, truly amazing. It'll be worth filming this Lilliputian railway again when there are no Gullivers about

  • Incredible train ride!! Is this a private railroad?, or a club layout?, Or....? It is obviously a public attraction!

  • I see there's a building under the open-decked Alexandra Bridge -- I hope nobody flushes the toilet while the train's overhead! :-)

  • This Vid - what a find! Dad took us here (441 Bus from Windsor) just after you re-opened after WW2 - tracks were there but trains were yet to re-start operations,

Have been back several times since - do hope the village decorators, I.Splosh & E.Dabsit are still in business!! The genius and care which created B'cot and the eternal delight it gives are a credit to the Nation - 'Floreat Beconscotia!

    Best wishes from Canada

  • super cool video i rewally like it.

  • even thought the trains are a different scale to the people, i love this line!

  • I loved going here as a child!

  • great work, always came here when i was younger lol

  • I swear to god every kid that see the train jumps up and down its funny

  • Gotta ask, is this model railway near London?

  • @TrainingArena555 Yes, it's in Beaconsfield, Bucks. Direct trains from London Marylebone station. See bekonscot.co.uk for opening info.

  • @bekonscot what kind of train were u using?

  • wow how long did it take you to build and how many train sets did you use cos i wanna do something like that rather than just my small version oh and that didn't bore me cos i was trying to find something to watch so i remembered my train set and decided to find some vids and found yours

  • @Burtinator100 It's been built for over 80 years! It's been built from scratch, not trainsets pulled together.

  • wow how long did it take you to build and how many train sets did you use cos i wanna do something like that rather than just my small version

  • @Burtinator100 is not his

  • Very cool. The "Giant" people in this video scare me. Talk about perspective!

  • @oldburg This is Bekonscot Model Village in Beaconsfield, England. See bekonscot.co.uk for details of how to visit! The smallest scale that is widely available in most model shops is "N" gauge, which is 2mm to 1 foot scale. There are smaller gauges and scales, but there are fewer items available for modellers.

OO/HO gauge however is probably cheaper as there is a wider variety of secondhand stock on the market.

  • really good video, and where did you buy the camera from?

  • @joetorsney - Thanks! It's just a standard Canon Powershot digi camera, but mounted on the front of a flat wagon with some padding and tape.

  • gr8 layout buddie

  • Perfect! I was just wondering if all that rock was placed by hand.

Once again, a beautifully perfect video of a remarkable rail system.

  • Brilliant. I used to love going there. Must go back one day.

  • @Timsquonk We do hope you'll pop back sometime!

  • Fantastic ride. Brilliant sense of "going somewhere" rather than round a model railway layout. Although the P way team need to get on with cutting lineside foliage back a little

  • @elsieesq I think we've trimmed most of it back now. But a single leaf in 1:32 scale is really quite a bit encroachment!

  • Pete Waterman would be proud!

Although, his garden railway is consisted of real locomotives!

Oh what a life his is!

  • That was real fun to watch !.

  • Superb.

  • why walk the line to inspect the line when you can send the camera down the track? I know its not 10 full miles but that has to save a hell of a lot of legwork!

  • where is this place situated? I want to go!!

  • @alexgets98 It's Bekonscot Model Village in Beaconsfield, England. Check out bekonscot.co.uk for details, Alex. Hope you make a visit!

  • thats amazing! and whats more amazing is that 2 people dont like it what the hell is wrong with those 2 people?

  • This is the best layout I,ve ever seen.

  • @iloveamericans1 That's very kind of you - thanks!

  • this is probably the only 8 min video that I actually watched

  • awesome video

  • Great layout, very impressive.

  • When its inside the long tunnel it seems like the exit gets further away lol.

  • Absolutely Fantastic. Except for the 1 to 1 scale people it is like riding a real train. Beautiful job of landscaping, buildings and small details. Trackwork and ballast is also excellent. A real pleasure to view and get ideas from. THANK YOU for sharing

  • @bobrstrong1 No problem - we do like to inspire people. Model railways are all about having fun - and we hope that you get some ideas from it for your own line.

  • awsome!

  • Was that camera built-in or was it just a camera on top?

    plus, THAT WAS AWESOME!

it might be possible to build it on RTR

  • is it true if you run over a bug on a layout like this does it lubercate the track sorry cant spell

  • @TheRush341 It doesn't necessarily lubricate it, but it'll be a bit unpleasant for the bug!

  • This is really magnificent.

  • wow - very impressive.

  • Wow!!!!! i wish i had that in my backyard!!!! LOL

  • Cool)

  • Its just wunderful, thank you!

  • Excellent clip, thanks for posting

  • Do you have a track diagram of the whole layout? I'd really like to see the whole thing in one picture. Very nice layout, I'm sure it's a bugger to maintain!

  • @robertmbishop Hi Robert. You'll find a map in the Model Railway section of bekonscot.co.uk

  • Purely breathtaking.

  • wow! i really felt like those kids on the side :P .. grate!

  • Just love riding in the locomotive on your garden railway. WONDERFUL!

  • great video, great layout. Would like to see an areal of this entire layout.

  • Best Garden train layout I've ever seen!

  • @T0mahawk3r Thank you! It's a real team effort, and has taken over 80 years to get to this point.
