najgenialniejszy koncert jaki widziałam (słyszałam:)- gdybym mogła go przeżyć "na żywo"chyba cały czas musiałabym klęczeć z zachwytu, podziwu i nadmiaru emocji- albo pękło by mi serce...
Mike Oldfield is THE genius in the whole wide history + if you don't like Mike Oldfield you have no live man. so those three people have no live. they will burn in hell they dont desurfe to come in heaven.
The conductor looks like he's trying to find something useful to do but he doesn't find.
I really don't like all that 90's stuff that were used in cheap techno and dance , that includes the keyboard, the guitar, the wooohoooo's, and the haircut. Sounds like Enya with a guitar. :'-(
@homihachiMetal333 Eres el mayor retrasado de la historia de Youtube. Tubular Bells (BSO Exorcista), la compuso MIKE OLDFIELD, Y este tema forma parte de Tubular Bells II. Lo que hay que leer, vaya tela...
You can tell how amazingly awesome this is because the audience isn't cheering or screaming or anything during the performance. It's because they are in a state of awe. The audience is left speechless. Yes, Mike Oldfield is THAT good. Like me and a bunch of others have said, he is THE musical genius our time.
Theme and variations on an excerpt from "Tubular Bells". This man is a true musical genius. He wrote "Tubular Bells" at age 19 and recorded it almost completely by himself. I don't care if this is just a variation on the theme, it is still the work of a genius. If not, you probably can't sue him for changing his own work.
There's something about the way he plays, he's really in his own little world, lost in his own music. Must be a fantastic feeling knowing that you've made the best music on earth.
It's from the first ever live performance in Edinbourgh 92 (there is a DVD of it), so it was still new for the audience... Mike always thought of live performance as to recreate the original as close as possible, and got bored of playing shows then. weird^^ but his composing skills are his most important gift to us, no doubt there.
Wow - Have always loved this composition - never even thought about watching it on You Tube - but so glad I did. Fantastic - Moving and so Touching. Thanks for posting.
Rehashing tubular bells? There are three tubular bells albumns and about thirty others. He has also had many hit singles. Please get your facts right before posting.
I fell in love with this album when I first heard it. It was 17 years ago. And it's still one of my best album. I'm happy to say, that I've seen this musical genious live on the stage. It was unforgettable.Thank you Mike for your music
Saw the Edinburgh concert on a VHS tape when I was 12. Now I'm 30 and proudly celebrating 18 years of considering Mike Oldfield one of the top musicians of all times. He is a genius indeed. Every musical note falls in the right place, where no note has gone before :)
Mike Oldfield Robyn Smith-Conductor David Bedford-some Orchestration Jay Stapley,Hugh Burns,Alan Limbrick-Guitar Craig Pruess,Richard Cottle,Dave Hartley- Keyboards Adrian Thomas-Programmer Yitkin Seow-Piano Lawrence Cottle-Bass guitar Ian Thomas-Drums Ben Hoffnung,Alasdair Malloy-Percussion Jerry McKenna-Banjo Pete Clarke-Fiddle John Parricelli-Bandolin & Guitar Jackie Quinn,Linda Taylor,Edie Lehmann, Susannah Melvoin-Vocals John Gordon Sinclair-MC
I totally agree with you Algerock and foamingmaddog. I'd pay anything to see him perform live. He's more than a musician he's a true ambassador of peace and harmony!
Mike Oldfield is the best musician on the planet, bar none, he is also a great composer, creating original works that will stand the test of time, he speaks to the emotions with his music, you dont listen to mike's music, you feel it. he deserves more recognition by the mainstream music than he does. there is no one today that compares, none
@foamingmaddog I would strongly suggest looking up a Japanese composer/singer/musician called Susumu Hirasawa. He's a musical genius and I'd put him on a similar level to Mike Oldfield. Multi-layered, highly experimental music that doesn't seem to date at all and runs easily from one genre to the next. A collaboration between Hirasawa and Oldfield would be all kinds of amazing, I think.
@intercitty It's a tad elitist to disregard "anime music" just because it's been used for anime. And in any case, Hirasawa's career extends far beyond his anime work - he's been a recording artist since 1979 and his standard of work is easily comparable to Oldfield's. If anything, there's considerably more variety in Hirasawa's body of work; Oldfield just keeps rehashing Tubular Bells.

Sentinel is a good name for it... the first part esp. It sounds very alert, awake to the moments.. the tides of the night.
That electric gtr sound was featured a lot on the (I guess later album) Songs of Distant Earth.
'Air-conducting'. Is the conductor conducting more than just the air flowing past him? (ie) Would the band play any better if he wasn't there?
Holy dawn... if the Sentinel stays alert this is what may come! (an idea that occurred, one interpretation of the music.)
