Japanese government, organizations and people have tried to portray and present themselves to the world as the innocent victims of the a-bombs (and thus of the war) over the past years since their defeat in 1945. It has been a well-organized long-term effort by Japan for recreating a new peace-loving lamb-like image of Japan and Japanese.
How about putting some effort in kneeling down to and remembering the real victims (i.e. other Asian countries and people) created by Japan and Japanese?

War is terrible and you need to end it as soon as possible. Japan wasn't going to give up and reports showed that if the US invaded 250,000 US Soldiers would have been killed and millions of Japanese soldiers and civilians would have died and Japan would have been rubble. Also, the Soviets would have invaded northern Japan and they were ruthless. So as horrible as those weapons were, they were ONLY way to end the war in Japan as quick as possible. It was either that or an invasion.

Japan wasn't going to give up and reports showed that if the US invaded 250,000 US Soldiers would have been killed and millions of Japanese soldiers and civilians would have died and Japan would have been rubble. According the book Hiroshima by Andrew J. Rotter; the excuses for the bomb being dropped were based on false reasons. Many american deaths, was nul - the japanese home defence was basically nothing, and personally i think that if you go to war you should keep it to troops dying rather than civilians. Hirohito was looking for a way to surrender whilst keeping his and his government's lives and not damage the imperial system (american surrender offer did not promise their lives would be spared.

The surrender ceremony would held aboard the Japanese battleship Yamato at Pearl Harbor, at which the government representatives of US, Britain, China, Dutch, Australia, Canada and the rest of the Allied countries signed the Instrument of Surrender provided by the Japanese government. Eventually there would be only two countries in the world, Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany.

A blockade would have worked just as well; and don't kid yourself into thinking that Japanese lives were ever a calculation made by the US. People act as if there weren't other options to the bomb, it's simply not true. I don't think it's really a wild argument to say that the prospect of new data on the weapon wasn't a significant factor in their eventual decision to use it.
