  • Great vid, can I ask you, dont you got there 3 screws under the 30mm main nut? Iam changing my clutch now, Ive got an 750gsxr ('98) and there 3 tiny screws, which are damaged on the heads and I couldnt get out more then one :-/

  • @CharlitoCZ , Since your screws are damaged, just remove them with an extractor and toss them as they are not needed.

  • ok bobala

after watching all of these, I think it's time to go picking and packing cherries on the farm and use the cash to have mine done by a shop

  • in the uk its cir clip in the us well guess you have to call it somthin else lol

  • when putting in the clutch plate how do you know what order to put the plates

  • what fluid do you soak the clutch plates over night

  • when you drain the oil is it engine oil or transfluid

  • I aint never heard of no cir clip either. Nice video man, thanks a lot!

  • he im going to be buy a suzuki ts 90 1972 im gonna have to change the cluch there all in the same location right or no other major dif from this video?

  • how would i get the bolt at 1:59 off if it is just the engine and isnt connected to a bike?

  • the first video i seen that was all liked =D

  • Snap Ring it is! :)

  • great video

  • vid was awsome hey when i press my clutch it de adjust itsef when its running works fine when off then i turn it on and press it two three times and boom no more pressure??? HELP

  • hey man nice do it youre self video. is this the same process for an 88 gsxr 1100?thanks.

  • Hey this is a great video, thank you...I was riding to work today without a problem then all of a sudden my bike wouldn't go into any gear and wouldn't accelerate. There was a noise sounded like a loose chain or something which was present even when I pushed the bike...Do you think it's Clutch or Transmission?

    Thank You! : )

  • @chigeechickie : Geez. That sucks man. I'd lean toward the transmission since it wont go in gear and the noise is stll head when pushing the bike. I'm no mechanic though. If there is a bike shop in your area you have them do the diagnostic to pin point the problem and check the service manual to see if its something you want to tackle yourself or let them do

  • Hey nice vid , i drive a ninja 250r , i cant get the cover off , all the bolts are out and it just wont come off...any idea whats going on here?? thanks man

  • @lrigydruh, I can't say off the top of my head. I would refer to the service manual.

  • @mercman0071 thanks , Do you maybe know why my bike wont go up past neutral? my buddy fell off it and now it makes a grinding noise and it only goes to 1st and neutral it wont go up anymore....I asked a couple of guys at a dealership but they wont waste their time telling me and i dont have a way to transport the bike! Any help would be greatly appreciated , Thanks again : )

  • @lrigydruh: sounds like the tranny might be toast. Just a guess though.

  • Locktite?

  • Do you know how to do a clutch adjustment???

  • @lamar2088 Sounds like you could use a service manual. Check out gixxer.com

  • Great vid saved me a bunch of money

  • when you say "turn it to 108.5 pounds of torque" is it actually listed on the clutch to know where to turn it? what gear should the bike be on when changing the clutch?

  • @mobbvillan1 108.5 ft lbs of torque is listed in the service manual. And your torquing the nut, not the actual clutch assembly. I've heard people say 6th gear and I've also heard 1st gear. I personally used 1st gear but when I do it again I'll try 6th.

  • Excellent video. However one factor not mentioned, that is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL is to make sure that basket is seated properly. The oil pump gear is driven off the back of the clutch basket. The basket slides out easily, and can move forward when pulling the discs. If the oil pump gear isn't engaged properly (oil light will come on), you gotta get back in there & fix it.

  • @dfgrego true. but if you notice, i never pulled the entire basket here, i only pulled the plates.

  • Great video, followed step by step on my srad and now I have a new clutch without paying some guy $200. I will agree the only thing I c that u forgot was, those 3 little phillips screws. Other than that , dead on , thanks mate

  • @easymybutt My bike didn't have those screws installed so I never mentioned them. But good job replacing the clutch. Feels good when you know it's done and done right. Not to mention saving that cash!

  • hey man will just putting new plates solve the clutch slipping problem or do i need new springs or any other stuff? i got an r1 btw

  • @tjohn1986 It depends. If the clutch is slipping from normal wear and tear, most likely. But it wouldn't hurt to replace the springs as well.

  • @mercman0071 thx man

  • is this the same as a 2007 GSXR 750?

  • I like the guy in the back at 5:09 saying "hey they gonna get in my ass for not having a torque wrench, I ain't gonna let that be known" LOL

  • Shhhhhhh

  • why do you soak them in oil overnight? What kind of oil? Sorry im going to do this on my bike this weekend.

  • you also forgot to install the 2 rings towards the back of the clutch assembly....

  • it's in the RAW footage.

  • you missed installing the 3 phillips head screws that holds down the retainer cup for the springs.

  • I didn't miss it because I don't have them at all. The only purpose they serve is so you can remove the pack as an assembly.

  • great video now is it the same or about the same for a 2002 gsx-r 1000 if you have time i would like you to e-mail me i have a few things i would like to ask about it before i jump right to it thanks jimmie. if u comment me back and u have time i will give u my e-mail so we can talk thank!!!!

  • The best thing for you to do would be to download the service manual for you specific bike. That will tell you everything you need to know.

  • @mercman0071 thanks for getting back to me and for the info is there a web site that you recommend for that!!!!

  • This video will be a great complement to my English classes. Thank you.

  • @amarcosdurock2009 - How so? Please explain.

  • Mr. mercman0071

I ´m an English teacher in São Paulo - Brazil, and I have some students who would like to learn technical english related to motorcycles, and I´ve been using your videos to help them with the mechanical terms.

    Once again, thank you.

  • Thanks for the vid... I think you are the guy on the gixxer forum who suggested replacin my clutch... much appreciated

  • bro you need to make a video where u can explain how to adjust the clutch cable it's ain't easy at all, kind o pain in tha azz

  • clutches work great but my clutch cable won't have enought prressure did some one now how to apply tension on it, i try to do it by the handle and wasn't work

  • I had the same problem at first. Turns out I installed the wrong friction plate first. There is one friction that has a larger inside diameter than all the others. It also has less friction material. That one goes first. Once I corrected my mistake I had the appropriate pressure on the clutch lever.

  • got it bro very helpfull be safe out there with the 4 wheel demonsss

    LATIN RIDERZ MC 4 LIFEEEEEEEE

  • Great job explaining as you go along. And nice job with the video showing the exact sequence. By far one of the best tutorials I've seen.

  • Thanks!

  • Nice one man, need to do this on my 86 Gsxr 750,looks like it will be simular though, cheers

  • CIRCLIP all the way baby pmsl

  • The problem is when I put the bike in gear it will not move but the gear shifter is moving and you feel it clicking or switching gears, after switching the gears for like 20 times it finally catches but moves approximately two ft and then it will not go anymore but the bike is still started.

  • oh cause I too have a motorcycle but its not going anywhere, do you think the clutch plated might be the problem?

  • depends. will need more detailed information about what is or isn't happening. also you can ask around on forum websites. people there are always willing to help.

  • Excellent video, but what made you change the clutch plates?

  • Clutch was slipping

  • Doh

  • Good video. And I do refer to them as 'circlips!'
