  • Jeff Beck is an amazing guitarist. I love his guitar work, even though it isn't the most technically it is still great musically.

  • I love how it has that Mississippi Delta Blues style. Well done Jeff.

  • i wish jeff beck would come play at my high school games

  • @mindeloman...Jeff was asked to play the National Anthem cuz he was playing right across the street that night. He was gracious enough to do it. So he's British. Wow what irony... Who the hell cares?

  • Hmmmm let's see Ted Nugent or Jeff Beck? I think if they ever played on the same stage together, Ted would have to bring his guns with him so he wouldn't get blown away so stop saying how Sweaty Teddy does this song better than Jeff.

  • It is what it is...Everyone knows Jeff could totally wail away like Jimi did on this. It was a good short version so don't try to make too much of it. Jeff is simply the best!!!

  • ay what you will, Jeff Beck paved the way for Nugent and others!!!! Beck is the guitar god!!!

  • Ted Nugent does it indeed way better. This here is boring as fuck.

  • Pretty sad it takes an Englishman to play the American Anthem it was suppose to be played. Easily the best version I have heard because he didnt do some improv bullshit showing off in the middle.

  • this is the best guitar cover of the national anthem IMHO , he is actually playing it and not just showing off in the middle of the song. You rock jeff!

  • He was playing that night right across the street, we were lucky he was here!

And the show was kick ass.

  • Ted Nugent does it WAY better!

  • @Fastsprinter87 I beg to differ. Heard both versions and at times I couldn't even tell it was the National Anthem when Ted was playing.

  • @Fastsprinter87 I agree Ted wailed on the anthem!! jeffs version boring!

  • I know it's jeff beck but come on!!!! He's a brit. Does anyone else see the irony?

  • @mindeloman shut the hell up. jimi hendrix is african american and played the National Anthem at Woodstock. and it was one of the best, maybe the best, versions of the Star Spangled Banner. WHO cares if hes a brit? So what, he had the balls to play a traditional american song and god bless him.

  • @shepsav My my, you're a little testy one aren't you? Jimi Hendrix wasborn in Seattle Washington which, by the way, is in America. Which makes him American. As far as I can study, Hendrix never stepped foot in afria. So how does that make him African-American as you say? The definition of "irony, by the way, is: the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning. In this context it was meant to show that Beck is a brit and the british was the antagonist of the song.

  • @mindeloman shut the fuck up

  • @shepsav african american.. so he was american. jeff beck is not british american.. he is british

  • @1rn3H can you play the national anthem? i dont think so, so appreciate others showing their respect for America

  • @1rn3H im australian and live in america, im not australian american, so that means i cant play the song? oops u dont believe in freedom

  • @mindeloman so he played the brittish national anthem 100 times worse.....

  • @mindeloman Well the Brtis gave us George Washington, Ben Franklin, our language, the framework of our criminal justice, our form of democracy. The Beatles and Jeff and on and on and on. Their contribution to America is immeasurable.

  • @kentucksoldiersson All true; but my original post was about the irony of him being a brit playing the american national anthem. Insert the lyrics where appropriate. Rockets red glare. Bombs bursting in air. And the irony clincher, "that OUR flag (not the union jack) was still there. Those times are long gone. Although I wonder what Frances Scott Key would think of a Brit playing the music to his poem 200 years later. Time changes all.

  • awful

  • @aminoblaster he did a fine job. keep in mind this was recorded with a camera mic !

  • My favorite National Anthem performance. Happy 4TH!

  • @pencheSoetoro

No. Your view of guitarists is just to narrow. Find Tom Morello. Or Matt Bellamy. Or John Mayer (in his own way). Or look at the guys from G3. Or Angus Young; who's not better than Hendrix(in my opinion) but an incredible guitarist.

  • @guitargeekforjesus Well, listening to holldsworth, henderson, metheny, benson, lagreene, frisell, vaughan, krantz, aldrich, can't hardly make my view narrow…..morello? please!

  • Whew! He played it safe... a smart thing to do. The Hendrix versus Beck argument is moot. Hendrix was a huge Beck fan before he arrived in London, apparently asking his new manager, ex-Animals bassist Chas Chandler, if he could introduce him to Beck and Clapton. Listen to Beck with the Yardbirds and you'll understand why; As a guitarist, Jeff was miles ahead... always was, and still is. First night in London, Chas took Jimi to meet Zoot Money, whose band included former Police man Andy Summers.

  • I wish people would just realize that Hendrix is nothing compared to the skills of Jeff Beck these days... Jeff Beck has more feel in one note than Hendrix in his whole career. Teeth playing doesn't distract me from the bad sound it makes.

  • @MrJro2 clearly you are not a guitar player….you´re clueless….

  • @pincheSoetoro Actually I'm a rather seasoned musician thank you. Go see my videos. All the music is performed by me and only me. Guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keys, sitar, etc! So I do know a thing or two about music. But I will conclude with one thing. I am never wrong when it comes to my opinion on what I feel is right and or wrong. I'll take Beck anyday over Hendrix. I said it and mean it. Lastly, clueless? No but skilled beyond normal hearing standards. Make a point without insulting please

  • @MrJro2 if you´re so "seasoned, skilled beyond standards and never wrong in your opinions" (talk about modesty) why do you take one over the other when their styles are incomparable?? if you were fair, both should be at the same level each in their one right; but clearly one has left a bigger footprint thru time. there must be a reason don't you think?. Peace.

  • @pincheSoetoro Well you have misinterpreted my post. What I was trying to say without saying it is that we have our opinions about such subjective things like music and musical taste. I am very modest, but I also know I have great deals of experience in my taste and music. I can't argue with someone about their taste, so telling me I'm clueless was probably the wrong thing to say to someone like myself. You could never change my opinion on this as to me I'm never wrong. Get it? Good day..

  • @pincheSoetoro Also, I am not really a big Hendrix fan. I'm not a fan of his style. Don't get me wrong, I can enjoy some of his stuff, but 2 or 3 songs in and it drives me nuts with the flubs and sloppiness. I of cousre don't mean to tick you off with my opinion, but again, there is nothing you can do to change my way...

  • Really. Hendrix was good. But there's a WHOLE lot of guitarists now days that blow him out of the water.

  • @guitargeekforjesus too much bible numbed your brain….

  • It's to bad the audience could'nt appreciate what they were just blessed with. He kept it straight forward. That musta been painfull?

  • whats not to like about this? it's beautiful

  • I think that was pretty good

  • FWIW actually Zakk Wylde did part of the Hendrix's version on the Ozzy at Budokan DVD, he did get very close including the feedback and all.

  • I would love to hear him play "Yankee Doodle" because the melody is a bit more "busy" and the tempo is faster. No doubt it would sound awesome in his hands.

  • NOTHING J.B. does "sucks" There was no band to fill in any of the spaces so it sounded sort of thin, but this guy can play ANYTHING.

  • I WAS HERE AND IT WAS AWESOME

  • Awesome!

  • Dam,,, Hendrix he's NOT! I really like Beck but that sucked.

  • not bad for behind the amps theres one on u tube where there in the stands a little better sound not bad 4 a Brit

  • don't know what to say, I LOVE Jeff Beck, but this sucked, don't know why he even bothered

  • i like this better than the one he did in Long Beach in 1999. (LBGrandPrix)

thank you for posting this one! the show at the Fillmore was diamond!
