  • Thanks for the advise on the ballistol. I go crazy when my wood is damaged. How did you get rid of that allen wrench in the front & get a plug?...

  • Nice video Pete, picked up good cleaning pointers from this video.

  • I just bought a smith& wesson 1911 should I lube the barrel before I fire it?

  • Excellent video!

  • I think ballistol is the cure for cancer as well haha. But really thanks for the vid, helpful stuff. Bout to pick up my first gun on saturday, Sig Sauer 1911. Can't wait to fire it, clean it, and fire it again. I'll make sure to look around to see if I can find some ballistol anywhere. And just an idea, you could make a video cleaning the bore with hoppies then recleaning with the ballistol showing the dirt that the hoppies missed. Would be interested in watching that. I'll probably try t

  • I just got my first gun, which happend to be a 1911, and this video helped immensly. Thanks for all the help. I've been watching a while as I was getting into firearms. You really break it down piece by piece to explain why for everything. Good work!

  • I love how on your video on Ballistol's website it says "WARNING: Some videos may contain language that is offensive to some people." LOL

  • Hey Pete, love your videos keep up the great work! I had a question about ballistol because from watching your videos I trust your opinion on taking care of firearms. How does it compare to any gun oils in the past that you have used as far as preserving your firearm? Does it evaporate quickly when the gun isn't in use and you need to apply more to lube the gun? I'm just looking for your opinion on how long the preservatives last in ballistol compared to a gun oil?

  • Hey what's up Pete. Sexy 1911. Shot my first one last night. What an amazing fucking gun. I was shooting the Glock 23 first and my shots were all over the place. Then I decided to try the 1911, and I shot so great with it I shot out the entire orange. Anyway, I live in a small town in Montgomery County PA and my town has the same stupid siren for fires. I hate it!!!!

  • Hey Pete you can get Ballistol and Tetra gun grease on Amazon.com. If memory serves the liquid Ballistol was 12.95.

  • Just got my first 1911 last week and took i to the range today and I must say I was not dissapointed even though I couldnt afford a kimber like I wanted I got a 4" Springfield Lightweight Champion and it shot like a Champion. The recoil was smooth very controllable unlike my tiny 9mm I had and was gonna get a bigger 9 but I am absolutely happy with my 1911 and Im not cleaning it along with this video. And wheres my ballistol you were gonna send me =) for making the intro =p lol Im kidding Thanks

  • How often should you take a 1911 down this far to clean? every time you shoot? after 250 rounds? 500 rounds?

  • Great help man, just got my first Colt this week.

  • Pete, great video. Is it okay to use a metal wire brush to clean out the barrel directly? Or will it scratch up the inside? Should I always be using a patch over the bore brush/bristles?

  • Oh wow I just bought this gun and I just realized we have the same gun. Very awesome gun. My first 1911 too. Can't wait to test it out at the range tomorrow.

  • You may want to try using a patch jag, It gives you a 360 clean of the bore.

  • what do you think about militec-1

  • @NickiSig excellent oil lube

  • Pete, its very hard to find in australia i found a little corner gun store that sells it. It stinks, but its the best, it does everything, nothings better! I still use a bit of oil on my bolts. I let it sit in my barrel then i scrub it out and i cant stop black crap from coming out! Then i wipe down my whole gun with it, and my rifles wood stocks to, preserves them very well.......What do you think of Rem Oil i have never tryed it...

  • Loved this vid, really helped me with my springfield gi, you da man Pete!

  • I use Federal American Eagle. No complaints but I've used Remington

  • i cant find mr 45 bullets channel?

  • @BALJIT147 Its MR45BULLIT

  • Thanks Pete man, Just picked up my first SF 1911 Loaded, was great at the range and this video helped me clean and feild strip, but fuck i didn't listen and place a peice of electrical tape when replaceing the slide lock and i scratched the fucker good, hahaa. Thanks again man>

  • funny how u said u dont like long videos but it turned out to be 35 minutes lol

  • I think the worst thing you can do is to scratch the front end the crown of the barrel. If you scratch this your accuracy will go tits up and you have to let the barrel re-crown by a gunsmith. I personally would always clean from the chamber to the muzzle.

  • Basil Marceaux for Governor!!!

  • good video! I just got a 1911, love it!

  • hey there is no balistol here in the philippine islands , we just use wd 40 to clean our guns , and we really take down our grips just to clean it,

  • i love those sirens i got em on my mp3!

  • half an hour isn't long to you?

  • After buying Ballistol, this is the exact combination of things I use to clean and lube my HK. Ballistol and Tetra gun grease. Thanks for the great video. It really helped me select some awesome products.

did you know ballistol has medicinal properties as well?

  • I love watching cleaning of guns videos even though i do not own a firearm

  • How often SHOULD you clean your 1911 though?

  • Nice vid. About the barrel cleaning part: perhaps the patches keep coming out dirty because of a dirty brush, not so much because of a dirty barrel?

  • MAN, I THOUGHT I WAS FUSSY ABOUT CLEANING MY GUNS. FROM NOW ON I'M SENDING MY GUNS TO YOU TO GET CLEANED. OH, I JUST GOT MY FIRST CAN OF BASSITOL. CALLED THIS LOCAL SPORTING GOODS STORE TO SEE IF THEY HAD SOME. OH NO. BUT I JUST KNEW THEY DID. SO I GO. BIG THUNDER STORM AND HEAVY RAIN OUTSIDE. SO I HAVE TIME. LOOKED AROUND MYSELF AND THERE IT IS IN BOTH SIZES. THANKS FOR THE TIP.

  • this is gonna sound dumb but when is a good time to clean your firearm. ive been told after every use then ive heard after a certain amount of rounds of ammo????

  • No wonder this video is over a half hour long. This guy won't stop babbling about what he had for lunch one time!!! It's only seven minutes into it and I think I'm going to find another video that actually gets to the point without a running commentary on which type of cola the instructor prefers!!!

  • Great video! my question is this. Could I not use the tetra grease on the barrel bushing? What are your thoughts?

  • Awesome vid, i've yet to tackle this task with my 1911, need to get some ballistol and the tetra grease, question: do you use the militec-1 on your 1911s' or is that unnecessary on the parkerized version? For right now i have the CLP and it's really not good for my XD, I was pissed it rubbed off the finish a little bit under the slide. again thanks for all the work and vids you post, they are a Big help!

  • Yah bro just got off the Ballistol website and seen a link to this video, I have been watching this vid over and over educating my self and I am basically using this video as a how to, one of the best 1911 cleaning videos

  • great video i just bought my first 1911 a springfield armory mil-spec. i have yet to clean it yet and this video really helps allot. love your channel its been a real inspiration for me to get back into firearms.

  • ... on the other hand - when you scratch up the inside of the muzzle or the rifling grooves near the muzzle the precision degrades

  • This is the best 1911 cleaning video I have seen, thank you sir for providing us with such a great cleaning video, awesome

  • i have a question... the grase from the plastic tube, what kind of grase is?

its something like a "gun grase" for shotgun chokes? like the hoppes gun grase or

briley chokes grase? thank you! and congratulations, great job!!

  • I just got my SA 1911 and you have taught me much of what I need to know about care and ownership of it. (its my first 1911). Thank you for the time and effort you put into the videos, they are VERY helpful and practical.

  • Thinks for the heads up on the Ballistol man.

  • @phantomcharger so what?

  • There's also a Swiss lube - Brunox. I don't know if you can get it in U.S but if you do, just use it, it's great !

  • Pete man, this video made cleaning my new Smith and Wesson so freakin easy. Ran 150 rounds through it (no FTF/FTE!), and it was pretty dirty, cleaned it the same night with no issues. Thanks a million for making these videos.

  • damn dude on the ballistol... I've seen you post videos on how good it is and makes your gun feel like glass/silk and was like yea ok whatever but seriously I just got my can of Ballistol in today with a few other goodies although my 1911 is clean I wanted to give it a once over with Ballistol.. Let me tell you bro that shit makes my gun feel like fucking silk.. Its something you have to buy and experience to be able to tell the difference.. I'm sold on Ballistol, works beautifully.

  • Have you tryed a bore snake on your barrel?? I have 1. it comes out spotless after useing a bore snake.

  • Another great video. Good information. Thanks!

  • Hey Pete how ya doing?

Man, what a mess YouTube has made of the site huh? Can find stuff and the comments section is now a mess. I hope they put it back the way it was or I'm going to have to find a new place to play.

See ya later Pete, good vidoe bye the way.

  • hey i like the video. is ordering ballistol the only way 2 get it? iv never seen it in a gun store.. iv been using tetra grease for a long time i love that shit.. keep up the good work..thanks Pete

  • hey man i like the vidio. is ordering balistol the only way 2 get it? i use hoppe's but that shit stinks when i use it. keep up the good work... thanks Pete

  • Hey Pete, I have just watched this vid for the fourth time. All four times I got something new out of it. This is why I tell people this is the best channel on YT. Another Great video Bro. Keep em coming.....

  • Pete,

I have been watching your channel for a while now. I research and buy guns due to the info. you provide. I was looking for another one of your vids. I have to ask, I stumbled across someone with a channel called "TheArmoryChannal" it looked like yours but it took me a couple of minutes to realize what was going on. Is this guy one of your trolls? Or is he a friend just joking around?

    Tom

  • @skipwadoo NO!! hes a fagot troll!!! i can care less.but no its not jokeing around its fucked up

  • Im turning 21 soon and live in minnesota where they have a permit to carry, which works for open carry or concealed carry. I was wondering if you could make a video saying what type of handgun I would look for in my first gun. Ive been watching your videos forever youre awesome you ham slammer!!!

  • Good video man. Been looking for a good 1911 cleaning video, and you definitely kept me busy at work during downtime. :)

  • Comment removed

  • I put electrical tape on my cleaning rods, so that they arent metal on metal. You can knick your barrel end up with those factory rods.

  • dude, im diggin the intro...its bad ass.

  • wicked intro

  • LOL Im a idiot, I have one of those exact same screw drivers in my toolbox and I have never thought of using it for my guns. Thats why I watch though. Good vid man, as always, love the info.

  • Just read through some comments and see others are saying the same thing. Your brush may be nylon but does it sit on a metal rod? If the rod is metal and you bang the breach end you will have accuracy problems. Happened to my 10/22.

  • @xRapidDavex i know i know i know!!!

i didn't start workin on guns yesterday!!!

if you listen to the video you'll see i adress what your saying. thank you!!

  • great video man, thanks for posting, i just bought my first 1911 yesterday.

  • Very informative video. Thank you.

  • i switched over from oil to tetra gun grease a couple of months ago and i love it

  • like that intro with the glass

  • I know you're not the biggest fan of Kimber's, but you should check out their Centennial Edition 1911. It's an incredible looking 1911.

  • What you said DOES make sense, but why do "they" say to clean the barrel from the feed ramp towards front of barrel?

  • @sheba106 only if your useing a metal brush.

  • What would you recommend.

    Springfeild G.I. or Mil-spec or Taurus pt1911?

  • @mfees56 thats esay!! springfield gi

  • thanks for both replies

  • @drivepro wise move, I wasn't going to buy a Springfield until I saw a few of Pete's videos. Hands down the best gun I have ever shot.

Pete, can you show a close up shot on replacing the slide lock without marring the finish, it would really help.

    Thanks,

    Pete R.

  • @ theARMORYchannel, first off just found your channel and spent the last hr or so watching video's. I was just wondering what you think would be a good entry 1911. I personnally feel that kimber is overpriced and have herd bad things about taurus's service.

is it worth spending the extra money on a springfeild mil spec over the gi model.

    Thanks

  • @mfees56 the GI the way 2 go

  • Pete, at 26:10 you have it backwards, this is the reason you should always clean from breech out.

Wear, chips and burrs on the crown affects accuracy, and on a match grade barrel, ouch.

That spiral steel rod on crown is the worst thing you can do to that barrel, just as bad as joint ends on crown. That's why I like the Otis cleaning kits.

  • @HiCaP dude once again im useing a nylon brush you can go in any direction you want!! this is not a metal brush!!

you guys crack me up with your corrections, lol

  • Pete, it's not the brush, it's the rod, especially when a little dirty, is like a file and if you hear a click when you insert brush/patch, that's the joint hitting. Metal / brass are BAD when you try and change directions before it exits barrel. I think you will find most manuals recommend cleaning from chamber end of the barrel. When I use brass I always go the direction of the bullet.

Im not trying to crack you up, just dont want to see you or anyone else cause any damage or abnormal wear.

  • @HiCaP i see well i think i will wrap the rod stem with electrical tape. problem solved. but again direction dont mean shit if your useing a nylon brush.

  • Excellent video Pete. Reminds me of doing hundreds of pull throughs on the British L1A1 SLR... The lint would take ages to come through clean.

Dude, have you taken a vow of not cursing?

  • Pete, thanks again for another great tutorial video!!!

The new opening was fuckin awesome also.

I have serched hi and low for that Balistol cleaner can you fervor retail? Or online only?

    Keep em coming!

    Thanks,

    Pete R.

  • the begining of the video was bad ass.

  • Nice video. White Lighting Clean Streak is a good metal cleaner. I don't believe it's a lubricant but a damn fine cleaner none the less. Grease is new to me on a firearm, not too heavy? I'd think it would be a dirt trap but I'm no engineer. Gonna try some Basllistol next, thanks for the reccomendation.

  • Great informative video man 5*****

  • you did a fine job here, its nice to get this kind of info. its nice to get educated with out being talked down to. i liked the new intro btw.

  • @drivepro thank you

  • @theARMORYchannel you pretty much talked me into a GI. i was planning on getting a Milspec, just because of the hiprofile sights...if the GI is like you say it is then im just gonna go with that..

  • You mention in one video the Limalife channel, Do you know what happened to her? She hasn't made one in some time. Just asking!

Thanks for this vid, thinking of getting a Colt 1911 and trying the ballistol.

  • @skipwadoo not sure

  • lol i know how you feel about those sirens man, there is one just down the block. Down hear in Missouri they run them on Monday and Thursday mornings at 8:00am and i live a 2nd shift life. And, around this time of year its worse because i live in Tornado alley. Great vid btw.

  • can you please put either in your response to me or in the video description the links to the users you are talking about?

  • I love the way that stainless looks man! I've been watching for awhile now. Almost bought that Springfield but I ended up dropping the big cash and bought a Nighthawk T3 Stainless. Still waiting for it though.

Also, thanks for info on Ballistol. I just went to Midway and ordered the liquid and the aerosol. Keep the videos coming, and don't skimp on the 1911s and Sigs!

  • i always thought "loaded" was a bad name for a gun.

  • that was a cool intro

  • Thanks so much Pete... this is going to definitely help me when I get my 1911 and since I don't know shit on how to clean them... you fixed that huh? Thanks man... 5*!

  • GREAT VIDEO! ARMORY channel RULES! 1911 Heaven!

  • use the q-tips like your son told you,

and get some pipe cleaners for the extractor and firing pin tunnels.

Rem oil is harmless to your grips also. dont use WD40 for nothing, its a cutting fluid.

dont stop swearing, you'll lose viewers.

    nutnfancy dont curse does he.

  • Dude, quit showing the 1911's ... Your going to make me have to go buy one. Damn it!!

GREAT cleaning video btw. awesome information.

  • @Brantoc lol thanks

  • @Brantoc keep watching Pete's 1911 videos and you will end up buying one like I did (Smith & Wesson 1911PD) , but you will be happy you did! LOL

  • How about putting the names in the notes for the video so we can click rather than try search for mr45bullet or variations of that.

  • @Brantoc your right i need to do that

  • dude awesome intro

  • Sweet into dude, big fan, keep up the good work :)

  • fuck man deadly intro there

  • Sweet into dude, big fan, keep up the good work :)

  • I got paper and pen out...I'm taking notes! Still worried about the spring shooting me in the eye.

  • @glampire13 ya man dont mess that pretty eye up.

  • nice intro!!

  • awesome intro

  • Excellent video Pete. You're thorough with your cleaning.

  • finally a proper cleaning vid on youtube thanks pete

  • @mstngo thanks glad ya liked it

  • I'm not trolling, this is an honest suggestion but you might reconsider the direction you brush the barrel. Most of the ramp on that gun is in the frame, it would take major damage to the barrel ramp to affect feeding. The muzzle is much easier to damage than the feed ramp. A scratch on the feed ramp can be polished out by the owner. Have you ever tried to re-crown a muzzle?

The muzzle is the last thing the bullet is in contact with. Even minor damage can affect accuracy dramatically.

  • @321twinstick20 ok first of all the brush im useing is nylon so direction is not and issue!! if it was copper then you'd be right.

  • @Certifiedfunds if there a fire anywhere it goes off nomatter how small. lol

    its crazy

  • how much does ballistol pay you to advertise i seen them advertise on ur page

  • @letsgunplay713 they dont pay me shit!!!

    i like the product.

  • GREAT VID MAN I SQUIRT THE BALLISTOL IN THE BARREL AND PLUG BOTH ENDS AND SHAKE IT FOR LIKE 2 MIN. THEN LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE, I also use micro fiber cloths on the wipe down process

  • NICE INRO LOVE IT did u know that both ur vid and hickik45's vids are on the balistol's website

  • Another way to prove that ballistol is so good is to spray that tooth brush with ballistol after your done. Let it sit for a min or two and run it underwater. it will come back to white clean. Great Video pete

  • @Certifiedfunds 15 rds??? it was 50 rds

  • hahaha the Germans are coming! That was funny. Thats a volunteer fire wacker thing. No need for those sirens in the past over 25 years since they all have digital fire pagers.

The sound of the siren gets em feeling frisky.

  • @YankeeK9 i hate that thing lol

  • If this posts twice I am sorry I posted about an hour ago and it is not up, yt is strange.Anways, I really appreciate the shout-out Pete,I am humbled,Thank you my friend. This is a great cleaning vid and you nailed it when you said people over oil thier firearms.I have seen oil dripping out of peoples guns, ridiculous and it actually is not good for the gun.You are a great teacher and someone I look up to,Thanks again Pete.5/5

  • @ChromeFreak123 hey NP anytime

  • I love your channel Pete and yhe new intro rocks but that chrome freak started out as a troll for nutnfancy and was at one time 1 staring all gun channel vids that werent subd to nutnfancy. and left me a few nasty messages when I never even heard of him.

  • Love the intro Pete awesome! 5*s I will watch the whole video later. Thanks for the shout out and everything else. You are a true friend.

  • @Mr45Bullitt thanks Bill

  • Hi Pete, I really thank you for the shout-out, I am humbled. Another great vid bro.. I appreciate you taking the time to do a good cleaning vid.Keep Rockin' Pete.5/5

  • Dude i dont know if it was you but good job on the intro. Great job.

  • @Figue58 not me a friend did it

  • ow me with ur adderes pete i want o send u some cleaning stuff tool patches ext

  • For the metal hittin' metal topic: I'd put duct tape around that metal rod of the brush.

  • Instead of using a screw driver you can also take the head off a q tip and wrap a patch around it.. I have long thin wood q tips my bro in law gave me courtesy of the marines haha.

  • @mixwell1983 true but the screwdriver has a handle and it makes it alot nicer

  • Tomorrow is cleaning day for my 1911.. This is the 2nd trip to the range now without cleaning it.. I still can't get the god damn think to not shoot to the left man its annoying.. When I shoot weaver stance it appears its not as bad as when I shoot isoceles.. I don't have the right allen wrench to get the set screw loose.. One is too small the other too large.. O well. Nice video Pete.

  • That Tetra grease is the shit but it smells like weird french fries lol

  • NICE INTRO...!!! The Federal is cheaper and hotter in my opinion. When it comes to hand loading pistols ammo, Winchester 231 all the way. 231 is Very clean, fast burning, ball powder. Stay away from the Remington (green box) .223 its crap. My M&P15 hates remington .223. My pistol like it just fine. I have to try that ballistal. A brass rod can scratch a steel barrel? Im not trying to be a hater, your channel rocks...

  • Im a big fan pete but again you sounded like an infomercial. Don't delete this one because it does help though

  • I think hickok45 gets paid by them

  • @ArmyKid1997 well thats geat. he should he helps them sell more of there product

  • what is mikes new page he made 1 few weeks ago an now its gone you said something abt thefireman or something damn old man needs to stop changen his names like he changes his depends lol

  • i clean my 1911 the same way except i dont have balistol yet i use g96 gun treatment it's really good too

  • That was a real good intro. Great Video too Pete.

  • COOL intro!!!! Love that freakin' firearm.

  • the intro is the SHIT! fuggin love it :D

  • What up Pete,Great video!

  • yo pete u seem like your ina good mood when u made this video lol

  • Great vid! thats gonna deff help me with my 1911

  • Great Vid Pete.

  • @jerry015 thanks for the intro bro

  • @theARMORYchannel no problem just giving a little back for your hard work

  • I've been meaning to ask you Pete, how do you clean your sigs. if you could make a quick video or send me a message it'd be much appreciated.

Can't get enough of your videos, I share alot of gun likes and dislikes with you.

  • I put more effort in taking care of my gun then I do my car. This is a good vid Pete, Very diligent cleaning and very insightful.

  • good video pete keep up the good work

  • great vid...love the ballistol....going to have to order some...thanks
