  • I was 15 but it seems like yesterday! one word : fantastic!

  • DISCO saved the dancing world ! :D

  • FUNKY !!!!

  • Anyone that did not live in the 1970/80's....Keep your Mouth shut !!!!

  • this was a great time to be alive.i just wish i would have been older

  • When I was younger I thought they were saying "HAAAA FRICA"

  • Although many disco songs were producer projects, I am glad to see that Chic was basically a great 3 piece band, and the instruments they used to enhance their sound also had a face...they even used them on their presentations...the violinists are HOT!!

  • this is the classic disco...sound great too..

  • dats waaay too funkaaaay , i like this mega song and im jus 22 y old.

  • awesome that nile rodgers embraced euro-electronica, strings and symphonic music instead of thinking it was "too white" the women here dress a little like the andrew sisters. early 1979 was a COLD winter..

  • quem viveu e daçõu a época da discoteca a de concordar comigo que esta eé uma das maiores banda de todos os tempos, sem modestia, cara eles são simplesmente fantastico;;;;; obrigado tks youtube and sastal....

  • My favorite dance song period, and forever. I am a forty- three year old white male.

  • Why are they dressed like they just got out of church?

  • @hipmama1970 you wrote: Why are they dressed like they just got out of church?

Not church, that how the sophisticated, classy "chic" people dressed during the time period! Especially to go to clubs. I had a similar ensemble that Tony Thompson the drummer has on and I was just a teenager! That was Chic's brand, high fashion. If you looked at bands during the time period, especially R&B bands, it was glitter, space suit like stuff. These outfits were slick and a cut above the rest.

  • @bruh1979 Haute coiture. That's it.

  • What on earth happened to music? ;~;

  • Thumbs up if you are watching this video in 2011.

    Thunder Thumbs!

  • have you heard about the new dance craze ;) this is such a classic and you can never get tired of hearing it.

  • Love that acrylic strat......

  • Ahh, memories of college days ! Luv it !!

  • i love the guy with the guitar at 1:45, love his dancing and the way he gets down. It seems that he was having so much fun :)

  • @Rossana20 That guy getting down is Nile Rogers, I believe. He is the root of Chic.

  • @giseba7 Yes. That is Nile Rodgers.

  • The clothes dont go with the song.

  • @frankieb2smooth

You have to remember what the disco scene was like in 1978, and what the lyrics are saying. The Savoy and the 54 were both *really upscale*. Chic's gimmick was to present the image of trendy, elegant, upwardly mobile black nouveau riche.

  • that guy at 1:03 is so funny!

  • it'd be great if someone could unsqueeze the aspect ratio back to normal. this is squished!

  • yeah!! perfect good song!! i remember my basic school!!! :D

  • magnificaaaaaaaaa1 la ballo sempreeeee!

  • Not exactly freaking out themselves though are they

  • aaafrica LOOL

  • watching this video just makes me wonder why in the world did xm and sirius get rid of the disco channels??? thank goodness for you tube.

  • I wonder how it would sound if ABBA did this song...

  • Le freak, c'est Chiiic !!!!!

  • DISCO RULED

  • @obamaican RULES* ;)

  • What can you say, this is one of the most talented groups ever. Bernard and Niles tore it up, Tony was awesome, and Alfa and Luci voices are amazing. Also, the Chic strings added such a great sound to their songs, and they were all beautiful!!!!

  • Wieso gibts jetzt nichmehr sowas GEIIIIILES ? :-)

  • yeah, das geht ab :-)

  • MARIO FRICK CHIC ARPEPERONI IN B!

  • Le Frick.... roma in B! :)

  • Wow what memories. I had this on a 78 when I was a kid. Chic was awesome, one of the best disco bands in my opinion. Great video. Thanks!

  • Good jam. I'd like to have that on DVD.

  • Does the instrumental from 1.38 do it for you?

  • Oh yes!!! I was just at my class reunion dancing to this song...it was like the floor was lighting up right before my eyes!

  • My big question has always been: Where are the violin girls today? They were pretty cute!

  • @sastal - A bigger question: Where was - I - then?

    "They're cute" is right!

  • great to tidy the house to, whilst dancing lol

  • Good bass line!!!....

  • BERNARD EDWARDS.

    he was a genius.

perhaps the best musician of all times.

    says: dipsy, the dancer

  • I SAID FREAK!! great song!

  • Great great guitar riff & tone...clean & funky.

  • Chic was a huge influence on the music of the 80's like Duran Duran and other early new wave bands....

  • Good quality vid, top quality funk. Chic were the best of the lot in the hedonistic days of disco.

  • Chic is one of the greatest and influential bands of the last 30 years, their sound inspired everyone from Duran Duran, ABC, The Time, House Music, Trip- Hop, R&B and many musicians. Disco was a very viable music and still is in 2008 unlike the cookie-cutter acts that pass for R&B, Punk, and Rock Bands. Miley Cyrus and Fall Out Boy are punk-sounding and neither has any street or music cred. They like Beyonce, SouljaBoy, are just pretty faces, Chic was the REAL DEAL !!!

  • Phillip Baiely rules. Well after phil.......go sluts go. World id yours. Disgusting. But it yours.

  • You've got that right mate; Nile Rodgers ruled the bases. Before the Chic came along with this base-biased arrangement, disco was getting a little predictable. The Chic sound prolonged life for disco for another 2 years and then disco finally headed to the music history. Credit goes where credit is due. Disco was and is music, no matter how the pretensious snoots want to deny it.

  • Nile Rogers was quite a bass player though, I can't deny that.

Now when is Stephen Hawking finally gonna find that wormhole so that I can go back to this time and get stoned at Studio 54 with all of the REAL stars?

  • that's Bernard edwards on bass, Nile is on guitar.

  • Whoa, you're an assertive gal in musical terms... I'd marry ya ;-P

  • GREAT dance song!!! Brings back great memories!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • Dance party favorites!

  • YO..peep Billy Ocean at :55 gettin down

  • not Billy Ocean, that's Fonzi Thornton a longtime back up singer for Chic

  • hahahaha tell me doesnt he look like Mr.Carribean Queen himself....but thanx 4 tha education on who dude is...appreciated...RU sure that's not Slow down and get into my car..lol

  • Nile rodgers is the man

  • why... not?

  • Just STFU and listen dont like then Fuck Off!

  • first of all did you take your medication today? second, i was jus asking. i never said that i did not like the group chic they're really unique.

  • this song was originally Fuck Off but you can't play that on the radio

  • Because Brian, they are Chic, cool, clean, upmarket, with an unforgettable music style!

Are you just trying to be clever/funny ? You failed miserably!

  • Brill

    Laney

  • Bring back disco !!!...

  • Nile Rodgers is a bass freak.

  • he's a guitar player

  • Yes, you're right. Pardon the confusion

  • Erm it was Nile on rythm guitar and Bernard on Bass guitar.

  • the girl without the hat is a cutie.

    timeless classic.

  • Love the girls playing the strings!!!

  • 最高ジャン!

  • True indeed...that was beutifull, and now theres nothing but idiots runing around yelling 50 cent, crap dols and things like that... better go before start crying lol

  • they are still here the good music but its try to find it, bcs the most of the people got stupid and listen shit of great major labels

  • oh the good ol days...funk disco that you have to dance to this tune

  • Great song, I am having a great time listening to this song, let's forget about everything that is going on around us, and remember those days that you just got up and danced to this song. Happy days!!

  • This CHIC song was great. An update on the surviving members - Nile Rodgers still produces and performs, Alfa Anderson is principal of a school in NYC, Luci Martin lives in Florida and is raising her son. Bernard Edwards passed in the mid 1990's and Tony Thompson died about 4 years ago from cancer.

  • thanks for the update

  • fijago: ABSOLUTELY AGREED. You just said it all.

  • I've been saying it for nearly 30 years and I am so pleased that someone agrees with me! Cheers pal x

  • the reason for the feeling in the groove is because they spent hours from a young age learning their respective instruments, blood sweat tears blood more tears and sweat on top of sweat and he presto chic. Today most pop cant play doe ray me on a keyboard let alone riff like these guys, so you have no feel in the music of today

  • Le freak ces't chic

  • ok this is the best bass line rift ever. I challenge u to beat it.

  • "Good Times" can beat it, but it's all in the family! Thanks for posting.

  • "Le Freak" is probably Chic's most popular hit and the highest selling record ever on Atlantic Records! This excellent quality video rewards Alfa Anderson and Luci Martin for their sophisticated elegance.

"Le Freak" è forse il più grande successo degli Chic e il disco più venduto in assoluto dalla Atlantic Records! Questo video, dalla risoluzione eccellente, rende merito alla sofisticata eleganza di Alfa Anderson e di Luci Martin.

  • Merci pour ton commentaire qui me fait très plaisir. Ciao et à bientôt.

  • fave Chic song.

  • groove is in the heart of chic, nile and nard, so underrated as musicians by music snobs, but hey who cares.

  • ehh, snobs can't "feel" or "groove."

    :)

i can't figure out what i love better, the basline or the guitar riff, lol...

  • Chic boomed in England in the late 1970s, I just loved that band so much,Nile and Bernard, Lucy, Tony, together they and Sister Sledge just tore up the U.K dance floors, I bought all the music ,singles and albums and I STILL have them today in 2008! Chic are the epitomy of what the 1970s were all about! Fun Fun and More fun, and todays music cannot replicate what they did for the Global Music Industry. They are up there with the greats in modern popular Music.

  • A great hit of Chic ! Inoubliable !

  • You go girls, lol.

  • who are the girls playing the strings?????

  • Le Freak se Chic

  • I have no words, Edwards on Bass.... simply one of the greatest. RIP.

  • Edwards and Nile Rodgers are SO underrated. Think Chic, Sister Sledge. What great vibes, something missing in most of today's tunes. I think Rodgers did some work with Madonna a while back. But not enough sassy girl groups these days with this kind of vibe.

  • Rodgers worked on both Madonna's LAV and David Bowie's LD albums. Around that time, he also produced Duran Duran's "The Reflex" and "The Wild Boys," if I am not mistaken.

  • Bernard Edwards' bass top performance...We miss you and your music Bernard, rest in peace.

  • great song

  • Killer track. Killer performance.

  • just beautiful music from the 70's

  • So what kind of model bass if Bernard using in this video?

  • BC Rich, John Taylor now owns it and the Music Man he played on "Good Times.

  • The greatest disco song and bass solo ever. If listening to this song dosen't cover your face in a massive smile, you have no soul. It just dosen't get any better than this.

  • Yeah agreed. The bass line is absolute quality. The tone of it is awesome too.

    Bring back disco.

  • this song is the best ever i cant stop listening to it!!! GO CHIC!!!!!!!

  • i love this song in the movie roll bounce

  • I often find I can't stop listening to this song. One of my favorite songs ever, it's just so fun and dance-able. XD Sounds really great, the music and the voice.

  • If this song was nominated for an Oscar any of the past 5 years, tell me this would not win. Musically all over what's out today!!! Funk rules!!

  • The bass isn't bad either. And the stings on the background make that funky part grow, grow and GROW! Pitches in trance are nothing compared to that. And this is in the end of the 70s'. What a cool era!

    What a SOUND...and what a feeling!

  • From 1:37 to 2:40 is one of the most insane funky funkyness ever in the history of music! No lyrics, just F U N K! That guitar is the definition of funk!

  • Amen!!

  • Some songs don't even need lyrics, the backing track is so f-----g strong! This song changed the course of music.

  • Ol boy had a sweet now vintage BC Rich Bass, i wnt, I want one!

  • Still! real music , Still groovin to the Seventies beat, Still down with the crown., Still not using drugs, Still playin Bass! and Still Loving the Master Dats GOD! baby

  • BASS BASS BASS A real inspirational kick & hey this was the late 70's Wake up out there with your sleaze & computerized buzzed dittys, back to raw basics & Bernard Edwards...BEAT ON & ON....LePB
