  • THORIUM!

  • i'm for clean energy, but i'm not sure this person knows anything about it other than the words "green energy" how can you expect us to come up with country wide green energy in 4 years? stupid. a swing to it: not economically possible, fazing out: very doable.

  • Fazing out coal is unrealistic and will never happen in this country. Coal usage in this country, will only increase and environmentalists will have to just deal with this reality. Without using coal, it will only mean that the saudis will be getting richer and we will be getting poorer. coal along with Nuclear are America's least expensive energy providers.

  • 400,000 people die per year due to coal pollution. Coal pollution is so bad,you feel the effects on the west coast study says..

over 400,000 people die due to cancer related to smoking in the USA alone.

you can die with a few small air bubbles injected into your blood stream.

its time to move on with atomic energy! We arnt in the 80's,and use bricks for cels any more

use the waste and reprocess it and/or use it in fast breeder reactors! Use thorium fuel, which is far safer than uranium!

  • @captinseperoth Trust me there are no tree huggers in congress , those guys are bought and sold by the corperations , they are employed by the corperations.

At the moment coal puts a lot fo money their way. If you realy had a green agenda you could have gone green in the 1970s when Jimmy Carter was pushing it. You could grow hemp for paper ,oil and plastics if that was the case.

Congress backs Monsanto, oil companies , coal companies and backs war hardly the attitude of treehuggers is it.

  • @hablerz Also im going to be pedantic . You cant die from an air bubble in your vein, you can die if you have many air bubbles but not one. Thats an urban myth.

  • @hablerz people will demonize fusion when it finally arrives for the mass market, thinking it will make their pets green, even though it makes the sun operate.

I dont get why do people focus on solar so much, focus most effort on fusion..rather trying to capture the end product of fusion.

also with solar you need about 500,000 square miles of solar panels to power the country on pure solar.

if that's the case, why not build them out in space and beam it wireless as its more efficient than land?

  • @captinseperoth Well thay havent got round to building it on land so i doubt they will build it in space either. I feel we should move ahead with the technologies that we have today , then later we can hopefully come up with a better solution.

I see wind turbines as a stop gap and solar is still fairly inefficient, but its better than destroying the planet in one way or another.

  • @hablerz

    they say

if america went with its original plan to build TONS of atomic power plants we would be inline with the kyoto treaty, plus 12% of leg room.

we can repossess the waste, yet it's kinda expensive...like saltwater purifing plants, yet if we work hard...maybe we could drasticly cut down the half life of uranium

also, another idea is to sink the casks in the very deep portions of the oceans where subduction zones are located.

over time the casks would be adsorbed into the crust.

  • If you, as an average American, got all your electricity from nuclear plants, you'd generate one kilogram of nuclear waste during your lifetime, enough to fit in a soda can. If you got all your electricity from coal, you'd generate almost 70 tons of waste. Coal plants emit far more radioactive materials than nuclear plants do;

each year a 1,000-megawatt coal plant disperses about 27 metric tons of uranium, thorium and other radioactive substances.

  • @captinseperoth Uranium isnt the way to go , the waste takes thousands of years to degrade even when used in fast breeders. You cant legislate for that timescale. Plus the mines create pollution that we dont even know the full extent of yet.

Thorium maybe, seems funny that it hasnt received more attention im guessing theres a big catch to it somewhere.

  • @hablerz

waste still has 80 percent of its energy still left in it,after the first "batch"

but the reason why you dont hear much of atomic energy, besides that it's "evil",becuse of the

treehuggers in congress, and in holly wood that demonizes it.

the fact is more people will die this year related to coal energy than the bast 2-3 decades.

if people hate cancer, ban cigarettes.

fly ash, which is coal waste is far more toxic in weight ration vs atomic waste

a bubble of air in blood, kills

  • @captinseperoth I realise that Uranuim reactors are still inefficient, after all radioactivity is energy so in theory they shouldnt produce any waste.

Uranium mining is not a clean operation ,that damage will last generations and its unquantifiable at the moment but it could be a time bomb.

I dont support coal for a variety of reasons air polution , ground water and river pollution etc.

As far as im concerned nuclear power is still a work in progress.

  • I disagree completely with this video. For starters, carbon is not the "boogie man," it's a building block. In and of itself, it's harmless, just as it has been for eons in mountains. Getting rid of the coal industry does nothing to change how much carbon we have. The better argument would be where can we better use it better, for example in windmills, clothing, cars, buildings, and infrastructure as carbon-fiber. What she sees as THE ENEMY, I see as a solution.

  • She is but a whore.

  • ok dipshit. how are you personally going to stop global warming? You are using a PC now so you are using electricity, burning coal, etc. Im sure you own a car, live in a modern home. But you want everyone else to stop doing those thngs to save the world. sorry if global warming makes your life less convenient. I am going to go drive my car 100 miles for no reason now cause you pissed me off.

  • Farang,

That's a total fucking straw-man cop-out argument. Awareness must be raised and people must be educated. If everyone waited till they were a perfected saint before they spoke out against injustice then we'd have NOBODY talking about the world's ills. Also, just because somebody doesn't have a viable alternative to their current lifestyle doesn't mean they don't WANT one or wouldn't immediately jump on it if it seemed possible. It's going to be a difficult process towards sustainability.

  • This gal has guts - LOVE IT!

    Kick the gross governments ass!

    Make lobbying illegal!

    Police the government WAY MORE.

Put them in jail for a long time.

Over 50% of those in congress are evil greedy bastards who should be serving time - A LONG TIME!

Shoot our nuclear waste into the sun.

a whole universe to dispose of waste.

Crapitalism is a nice idea that is going to kill every living being on this planet.

Greed has taken over EVERYTHING - even humanities so called common sense.

  • this video is a bit off-focus.

  • If they wanted to kill us with it why would their henchman, Al Gore tell everyone about it? Unless its already too late and unstoppable, in which case why worry?

  • I live in the UK. Some Americans are brainwashed because they listen to people like George Bush and watch Fox news and soak everything in. And please as soon as Stalin came along communism went out the window.

  • Who else has a big enough economy to start a global recession other then America? America started this recession. Don't blame your beloved country its your greedy leaders and Capitalism. This has nothing to do with Communism. These are the facts and if you don't believe me please find out why the recession happened.

  • Clean coal is like healthy lung disease - nonexistent. Burning coal kills people.

  • Stop mountain top removal

  • really?!?!?!

you mean there isnt a clean way to burn coal?!?!?!

  • No there isn't. What is worse about coal is that they are blowing up the applacian mountains to get to it.

  • you realize plate tectonics and natural errosion will destroy those mountains eventually anyways

and you realize that the appalacian mountains are reforested

  • Tell that to the peope of Tenn, WV, VA and Kentucky. Many of them hate the foods, water pollution, and effects to the foundations of their homes from mountian top removal.

  • unless they live on the mountain top, im sure the inconvience is minor

and i know the wider community is happy to have employment that comes with the mining

and as i said, the aesthetic impact is gone in a matter of a few years as the mountain is reforested. looking bellow from the sky, you cant even tell where the mining was done

nuclear waste is stored safely effectively deep in the ground (btw, the core of the earth already spews radiation).

    nuclear is better than coal

  • "nuclear waste is stored safely effectively deep in the ground (btw, the core of the earth already spews radiation)"

The radiation that is spewing from the earth's core is part of an equilibrium. You can't compare that to man-made radiation, no matter where or how the waste is stored we would be displacing something from its equilibrium. Whether it be flora, fauna or chemical... something will be affected adversely.

  • james lovelock invented the gia hypothesis, which concerns the earth equilibrium

    his environmental credentials are untouchable

    he supports nuclear power.

he knows, as a scientists, that the facts show that storage of nuclear waste is safe

  • Humans come from the earth and are a part of nature. So everything that we do is natural and a part of nature. The Earth goes thru many cycles, and the human cycle will end.

  • I don't agree with the statement "everything we do is natural and part of nature".

I do agree that the Earth goes through many cycles but the human cycle will never end... it will only change.

  • Watch Kilowatt hours to get the truth about Nuclear power

  • I meant to say floods. Misspell.

  • Fossil fuels need to be saved for the chemical components that they contain and that we need.Burning them when alternatives are available is not the wisest use of those resources.

  • That's an awful lot of wishful thinking on her part. It's extremely hard to know what Obama really "wants for this country" when all that's ever come out of his mouth has been mere soaring rhetoric.

  • i think he wants to deal with health care before moving to energy. the conservative backlash against his health reform will be just as big if not bigger when he attacks energy next

  • It is America's fault your house market crashed which is why it we are in the recession. Typical American attitude.

  • good explanation but it's no use. The skeptics still believe Liberals made global warming up as an excuse to raise taxes, and have plenty of pseudo-science to back it up. the idiocy, i know...

  • The U.S. refuses to consider any reduction in energy use. That's the problem. The U.S. economy is structured to gobble up as much energy as becomes available, no matter where it comes from.

  • I was enjoying what she had to say, then i started to get skeptical right around the time she said "hold obama's feet to the fire" then towards the end she totally lost me when she actually argued that Obama's intentions for the country are contrary to his actions. She thinks he does not support clean coal when actually he says he does. This is a perfect example of the bankruptcy of the American left and how they keep coming back after being routinely betrayed by the Democratic party

  • This is why partisanship is dangerous. If these people were truly for change they would be willing to reject the corporate owned Democratic party as long as the Democratic party continues to the principles they stand for.

  • Comment removed

  • Global warming is just part of the plan

They distroied the process which was building free magnetic energy

Wake Up people they dont want good for us

  • maybe once u pass the third grade people will listen to you. Learn what spelling and grammar are, then come back to me.

  • She's certainly making a lot of assumptions about Obama's supposed altruism.

  • Hear hear! I like this woman a lot. She seems smart and more importantly, fearless! We need more like her!

  • The USA seriously needs new parties. The two-party duopoly that's in place now, does NOT represent the American people. It represents corporations and anyone with money. You got money? Congress, the President and anyone running for anything, will listen to your wishes. In short it's "pay to play". No money? Hit the bricks, pal! You simply don't matter to them. Look at the health care scandal! All those motherfuckers debating the "issues" (and I use the word loosely) have been bought & paid for.

  • @JixMa

we need to first of all, demand term limits for all those on power!

secondly,we need to use tech to make government vastly efficient!

No more local governments, which were put in place in the days of horse and buggy's!

put the successful and rich engineers in offices, because they use their own money and are not bought out by megacorps, and let them re engineer America!

  • Bitch please, i hate how myopic her world view is. Dogmatism from any side annoys me, prevents functional dialog

  • I hope her organization succeeds with their goal but yeah she does come off as a typical coordinator class activist.

  • Her face is so fucked up she must have got hit with a shovel as a child

  • I'd make her wear a bag on her head when she sucks my dick. Someone beat her with an ugly stick! haha immortal words of Steel Panther

  • Come on, do we actually believe this crap? First its global cooling of the 70's, then it was global warming of the 90's, now the buzz words are "climate change"

News flash, the climate is constantly changing. This is normal. This is why the ice cores from the artic show this clearly over the centuries, also explains why Greenland is called GREEN LAND, as at one time, before it froze over, it was GREEN..

Hey, I just burned my garbage in a barrel tonight, We can still do that in PA...

    J.

  • something else too.

Most coal mines in PA are shaft mines, which don't require "blowing the top off a mountain" to get to.

This woman is cranked in the head.

    J.

  • hey dipshit, the nords named iceland iceland and greenland greenland to keep people away from iceland so they could keep it for themselves. Welcome to reality RETARD

  • This girl who has a political science degree, knows nothing of global warming. She has stated that the energy movement is to advance the social agenda and economic redristribution..her words

  • If the elites who run the world actually believed in man made global warming they would take real action to stop it. Since its obvious that non of them care about it, it must be a non issue. man made global warming is just another diversion to keep the masses from seeing whats really going on in the world.

  • Isn't clean coal a bit like clean shit?

I mean at some point folks need to understand that Carbon is not the

way to go. But then again we are

    dealing with ignoramuses!

  • why do you think China is moving on from coal to wind?

  • Who is this "we" crap. "We" don't create energy, business does. It is not the role of gov to pass policies that promote or inhibit one form of energy over another. If people want clean energy, then they should do so with their dollars. I am sick and tired of these people claim they have the only solution, and oppose those that don't agree with them. As usual, TRNN is only interested in their agenda and the use of propaganda to promote it. It's no different than O'Rielley, Hannity, or Limbaugh.

  • clean coal should still be considered, any energy source could help us out.

  • she should know that geothermal energy pollutes the environment & doesn't work everywhere. i also don't feel global warming will screw us over so soon.

  • Neo-Hippies are trying to establish a useless industry for their own gain.

    Eco-agitators.

  • as much as you polish shit...it is still shit! go solar!

  • There isn't enough coal or fossil fuels on the planet to destroy the environment no matter how quickly it's burned.

  • Thanx for this info!

  • the women is sort of cute, but the faces she makes, I can concentrate on what she saying, its to distracting

  • let's all eat sticks

  • Wait I've seen carbon capturing with algae fields, what about that? What about nuclear power?

  • Anyone remember the old adage " Lead By Example!"

  • This may sound selfish but...... FUCK THE GLOBAL ECONOMY!!! FIX OUR FUCKIN PROBLEMS AT HOME!!! Let the other countries figure it out on thier own!!

  • America started the depression they should take some responsibility

  • what about the study that showed that humans only account for 3 % of carbon emissions in the world??? and that there's only the sun getting hotter not global warming try galactic warming........how is that humans can effect the poles melting in other planets? come on enough with the propaganda!!!

  • never heard of it. every thing ive read on the subject says the opposite. whats the source of the study?

  • you probably have noticed by now that the political momentum of the IPCC is overriding any professors or studies that contradict their conclusions..

In 2020+ we will notice quite obviously whether the planet is warming or cooling.. If the global cooling people turn out to be right, all those enviro groups will go broke pretty quickly.

  • It isn't 'global warming' or 'global cooling.' Those terms tend to confuse some people.

It's Climate Change; Some regions are warming while others are cooling. This severely affects weather patterns and rainfall. The areas that go through wet and dry seasons will be the hardest hit. Some will see longer or almost constant drought while others will see a sharp increase in flooding. This is already happening in places like central/East Africa and Southeast Asia, no need to wait for 2020.

  • hacktik,

That's actually a bogus claim propagated by coal/oil industry backing. The reality is that humans put out the VAST majority of extra greenhouse emissions. Of course there's a background/normal range of greenhouse gases (including water vapor) but humans have increased this greatly in a very small amount of time. Also, the whole "volcanoes put out 100 times more than humans" argument is also bogus, the opposite is true. And volcanoes actually cause more COOLING than warming (via sulphur)

  • so we humans also make the other planets hotter with our pollution.. and of course we account for the extra...that extra 3%.....anyways this isn't my battle front..when the climate bills start charging you for miles traveled in the car or for mowing your grass or even for exhaling carbon dixiode you will see what it's all about..espacially small businesses. i wouldn't mind bringing the horse back myself..then there would be no need for these oil wars except to power the military.

  • hacktik

If the vast majority of science/scientists concluded that global warming was not man-made, I'd say ok and move on, however the opposite is true. To address your 'other warming planets' assertion:

    1. Not all planets are warming - some are cooling

    2. The sun has shown no long term trend since 1950

    3. There are explanations for why other planets are warming

  • Honestly, everyone should take her advice on energy bc it looks like she's lived under power lines her whole life

  • While Jessy Tolkan sounded too idealistic here and projected her hopes onto Obama, I still liked what she had to say in this interview and the previous one about Van Jones. I wish her luck in the future and hope she tempers her optimism with some pragmatism.

Aside from that, I'm surprised with how many misguided "NWO" people have flocked to TRN. I think people who fear the "NWO" mean well, but ultimately it's a distraction from REAL issues, which this channel and Democracy Now cover very well.

  • Alex Jones' alarmist "NWO" rants have an ounce of truth to them and the rest fear-mongering and self-promotion.

The real "NWO" isn't Jones' paranoid fantasies that so many gullible people swallow whole, it's America's financial empire, backed by the most powerful military in history and perpetrated for the profit of multi-national corporations. It's a result of Capitalism run amok (Corporatism), not Rockerfeller and a few elites.

Stop listening to Alex Jones and read some Noam Chomsky, please.

  • True, i used to listen to jones and after a while i was expecting the end of the world. Then i started to dig deeper. Jones does tell the truth, but he blows everything out of proportion by 1000% and uses scaremongering.

  • Good on you for branching out and doing your own independent research instead of filling your head with Chicken Little nonsense.

You may be familiar with him already, but I highly recommend Chomsky if you'd like to continue digging. Many videos with him here on YouTube, including some great interviews with The Real News.

The documentary "Manufacturing Consent" is a pretty good place to start if you're not familiar with him. That can be found on Google video.

Good luck in your search for truth.

  • Dude... Props to you on summing up Jones better than anyone else I've seen comment on the issue...

  • Mars/djguy,

I agree with you guys on Alex Jones. His message/coverage definitely has elements of truth to it, and he covers important things. However, he is most definitely fallible and like you said blows things out of proportion and makes bogus connections between events. He also lost me BIGTIME on claiming global warming's a hoax. You wanna talk NWO, look at the big eco-killer industries. I think he's lost credibility, but he's turned a lot of people in the SORTA right/questioning direction.

  • @Mars2O84

You're beginning to sound like George Carlin.

  • man she makes some ugly faces.

  • Well, I already know I don't have to rely on the coal. lol

  • There is 'cleaner' and 'dirtier' coal but when governments mandates scrubbers the companies use the dirtier/cheaper coal and are worse than before.

If she thinks that Obama is going to change anything she is dumber than a piece of coal.

  • poor girl, she just can't see the O is just a frontman for Goldman Sachs and the bankers...his grandmother was a banker...he is a brezhinski/kissingger creation...we been duped

  • Solar, wind, and a few other technologies are renewable.

    Oil and coal are not.

To say that renewable energy is fictional is a false statement.

  • You are so wrong. We will have to agree to disagree.

Good luck in your negative direction. Maybe investing in the Amero might be a good way for you to curb the rising costs of non renewable energy...

    Good luck...

  • its like the smart car - it's great but the battery is very expensive and it can only really go about 100K before it needs recharging.

if we went to wind and solar and geo thermal the economy would collapse because business needs consistent sources of energy (the sun and wind are not consistent and storage is more expensive and complicated then people think)

retrofitting homes is one thing, but keeping people working in their businesses is another

and dont forget about hte developning world

  • the developing world has the right to industrial just as the west did, adn it cant do it without nuclear or coal - renewables wont get them out of poverty into the world's economy

  • Nuclear is unsafe too. WInd and solar are the way to go.

  • nuclear is very safe (even storage). and it accounts for more than 50% of total energy in europe and canada (more than 80% i believe in france alone)

wind and solar are only work when the sun is out and the wind is blowing, and they are very expensive (even more than the nuclear) and supply little energy.

maybe in 10 or 20 years they will be the way to go. for now, nuclear is the only option if we want to get away from dirty carbon

  • Waste and radation effects says differently

  • That what you call "modern economy" is simply unsustainable. Renewable energy will be the only source of energy after NON RENEWABLE will be exaust, that will occur not too late -less than 100 years for sure-.

  • and she is so full of shit about the coal industy owning congress..Ask the miners in the small town in the appelations that have been layed off with bad checks when a company sells out..And they dont ''chop'' tops off of mountain..strip mining is on flat lands..DIPSHIT she is..

  • That foolish woman is projecting her wishes and dreams on Obama, even when she's confronted with the idea that he is not on their side.

"Obama is not really for 'clean coal' even though he says so"

Bitch please. Obama is a total wallstreet puppet, just like Bush was. Take the blinders off.

  • slipcurve,

You may be totally correct, however, there are certain clues that say Obama might be different than that. People are skeptical but holding out hope, I'm on the fence personally. However, part of OUR responsibility is FORCING Obama to do what he needs to do, we can't expect him to know everything. So if we raise our voices/actions, he hears us, and he STILL doesn't comply? Then we'll know for sure whether or not he's truly another corporate puppet.

  • If they attached a wind turbine to the fat assholes of each and every american, that could provide enough power for probably the whole planet !!

You could literally blow it out your ass !!!

  • theres no clean coal and theres no safe cigarrette.

  • oh i remember her,shes a Van Jones groupie..

Coal made this country what it is and fed many a familys..But sadly they will have starving children when these people get there way..

  • its easy to predict the future, its much harder getting it right...

your argument is nonsensical and rubbish

  • mollen19

    nonsence?

maybe if you didnt live in DENMARK you may understand my countrys past..

And she still is a van Jones commie groupie..

Ok,set up windmill factorys in kentucky and west virginia small coal towns when they shut down the few last mines that feed CITYS..

  • playful,

There's nothing wrong with Van Jones, you're playing a bullshit partisan game. You think he was radical? He isn't. The mainstream of our country is RADICAL. We're headed off a cliff and we must change our ways, there's no option, the future holds LOTS of change for us in the next century or two. Our only choice is not if but what KIND of change we'll promote.

  • again, kudos for your big argument that im from Denmark and therefor dont know anything. well the world is developing and those communities will have to adapt to the changes around them, the world is not static, i know thats the easiest way to look at it, and the driveforce of conservatism, but reality is more chaotic. and this "commie groupie" has just as much right to lobby for her cause as the oil and coal lobby, and she actually seem more responsible on the utilitarian perspective..

  • So someone fighting against the giant energy conglomerate is a part of the NWO? What does that make the coal industry?

  • lol yes yes

  • Boy is she dreaming....
