It sucks Afterburner locks Vcore voltage to +100mV now on the gtx460 hawk :( I'm only getting 910 @ +100mV, if i give it any less voltage it just shuts down during vantage/battlefield.

Hey guys! my core voltage is set to max and I am at 891/1782 mhz, it's really stable and the temp never goes above 60C but the thing is I'm sure I could push it to 920~950 but the thing is I can't put more voltage to my card, I don't know how you guys get the 3 sub parts for voltage I can only put the Core voltage to 1100, any idea how i could put more voltage so i can push it a bit more?

@alifak1 There is a bios mod. But the thing is it voids warranty. Try some fans blowing on it. Should cool better if your case is restricted.

i get my 6950 at 970mhz stable on furmark but it artifacts on DA2 and alot of other games. it needs to be at 880 to be stable

The GTX 460 Hawk can be overclocked to 1GHz, but it's not practical.

a. the card will heat up like crazy

b. the fans will run at max. the entire time, and the Hawk is not very quiet at 100%

c. the power comsumption will explode to GTX 480 levels

I have the inno3d Gtxo 460 i Oced to 820Mhz core clock and 2000Mhz memory just fine. I kicked the core clock to 850, still fine. I went to 900 and i crashed xD I guess afterburner does not support my card so well. :P

@MicroTerminator You need to get the beta version of msi afterburner. After getting the beta version (idk witch version it is) you can overvolt your gtx 460 hawk. Also make sure if your going to go for max overclock you have some cooling on that card! Linus has an open bench system so he can get more fresh air. If your trying to reach his overclocking speeds inside a case you might run into some major heat problems.

Man I love this card. I'm now overclocking the beast, currently at 875MHz Core, still linked to shader clock, voltages at default and fan on auto. To test stability I'm using the MSI Kombustor, 15min for every +5MHz increase.

Btw Linus, what is your default voltage on this card? Mine is 1.050V. I've heard that the default VDDC varies.

Any separate VRM heat sinks avail from NCIX ?

The akasa ram sinks fit perfectly under the cooler but no VRM's to be found without buying an aftermarket cooler w kit. SC2 overheats my card at stock volts :(

My voltages also only go to -100 or +100 but on MSI forums stated it was normal on specific systems, fingers cross for fix on next Afterburner release.

Mine keeps overheating on SC2 so I won't have a choice of getting aftermarket cooler , yes even with stock voltages.

@Kri38 If you're testing with 3dmarc your other hardware will have an effect on the score; if you are testing stability, this shouldn't be a problem. However the powersupply could provide unstable power to your card.

@gabs2012 it isn't meant to go against the HD 5870... the GTX480 was meant to go against the 5870, the 460 (like the 465) was meant to go against the 5830 and kind of the 5850 (the 470 was really meant to go against the 5850...) but for a $249 USD card from newegg I'd go for this because it has great performance and isn't as expensive as the super high end i.e. the GTX480 (best single GPU, according to 3dmark vantage) and the HD 5870(2nd best single GPU card, according to 3dmark vantage)
