  • OK 2pinklips maybe check it out

  • Great memories never forgoten them still go to the odd nighter even now at 50

  • @AndrewEllis1961 get yerself up blackpool for the may weekender, I was a mere babe back in the day so never got to go to these iconic places so had to make do with school , youth club and village hall discos, but am getting to the reunions as nowhere can touch this music and vibe even second time around !

  • Great memories from an iconic club thanks for your post....i first went when Betty Wright was on she was superb but seeing Jackie Wilson in that skintight leather suit was mindblowing....i didnt take gear either a lot of my mates did Prison time for dealing inc Bob Burton my old army mate he got 7years in Durham....Brownie from Skipton was weak regarding drugs and o/d and died. I ended up the R.A.F. Marathon Champion....not braggin just to indicate drugs are not cool and im still spinning at 54!

  • Who wrote them captions at the bottom of the film clip ? Its mostly rubbish. we didnt wear flares,we wore parallels ! And the casino didnt shut down because its popularity waned. There was always a crush to get in you tit !!!

  • <3 keep talcing ;) ktf

  • memories, the best ever !!

  • i went to wigan casino a few times, i never took any drugs although people i went with did use drugs, cannot deny they did not exist, i just loved to dance, didn,t need any help then but could use some energy now. maybee i should just start dancing again, if only i could find a club with music i really wanted to dance to. wow wouldn't that be great.

  • I think a lot of people felt the way the guy at 40 secs did ... giving the fingers and lip reading his "f*ck off" at the camera crew was ace ... hahahaha

  • @jahvoke ABSOLUTELY Spot On observation and comment! The NS scene to my now 40 year memory embraced any and all irrespective of race, colour or creed. It was 'our scene' however the divs with cameras, etc, was a no no. Coping with the odd DS 'friendly' trying to mingle in while standing out like a bulldogs bollocks was bad enough. The kids on the scene didn't crave for it to be 'big' we just wanted it for ourselves and that's what's maintained it to date - nice one jahvoke!!

  • i went at 15 in 77 no problem, stayed until the end, still in my blood, stilll going to events alll around europe, brill

  • The message re: the I.D. ????? nobody had photo I.D.'s back then and certainly not at the Casino..........still have mine.......maybe misunderstanding what you meant.

  • Nice put together tribute.

I'm in the record bar keeping away from all those bright lights they put on when they filmed!

They never knocked them off till 6 am!

  • My dad said...

Not every one took drugs he was fit and that what kept him dancing not being a druugy

    keep the fait guys

  • @iRyeProductions this is very true ,,very few took drugs,,we would dance all night no drugs and no beer such fun

  • I loved these times, and think perhaps they were some of the best in my life. I am dancing at 2.03 in red waistcoat behind man in red striped shirt............ there were drugs and drug dealing, but also wonderful and deep friendships and comradeship with people all over England, some of which I still know now I am over 50! I love to listen to Northern Soul on my i-pod as I travel the world. KTF.

  • never ever be another place like it, vernon(bradford) if you read this remember we used to get in first and for free by sweeping the hall after the bikers early stint. just waiting for the movie to come out now and wonder if regulars have still got bits of dancefloor down in their houses lol KTF

  • @sundodger69 I seem to remember some years ago that the whole floor in a Wigan Hairdressers was done out with pieces of the Casino dancefloor.

  • I think the old place burnin down was a good thing........by the eighties it was commercial and crap.....and over exposed.

It was all over by 1977 for me.

  • Love it. Great toons too. ktf

  • I was fortunate enough to be on stage with myself Paul CJ Fielding, Sandy Holt and another guy, in the final of the Dance Comp, as Russ Winstanly introduced us!That moment will live with me forever, the atmosphere, the heat, the smell and sweat! just three records to produce the best dancing of our lives, and as I stood there I just thought Thank You God I Love You, for that was truely a stunningly wonderful moment in our young and developing lives !

    Many Thanks

    PCJF (Pollenca Mallorca)
