  • THE SOPHISTICED LADY my #1 all-time singer........miss u PHYLLIS

  • beautifully sad woman. amazing voice

  • remember this song when I was young coudln't belive it still dont it is fantastic the intro WOW

  • This is so beautiful! That orchestra was on it!

  • She made some great music. So underappreciated. If the industry woulda done her some justice the same way she set the bar and inspired many women to actually sing and not come out with crap, she would probably still be alive. The industry drove her to kill herself, the industry and Satan.

  • Rest easy Ms. Phillis your musc lives forever................

  • This was the every first song I ever heard her sing and I fell in love immediately... became one of her biggest fans.....saw her in concert so many times....still miss her something fierce!

  • I LOVE TO HEARD THIS WOMAN MANY TIMES,I LOVE HER

  • I VE LISTENED MANY TIMES THIS SONG AND I LOVE IT,IM ENCHANTED WITH THIS LADY,MISS HYMAN,THAT GOD IT CONSERVES HER MEMORY ....

  • I will never forget the goose bumps hearing this record caused, it still does along with Was that all it was by Jean Carne, ,oh these were Queens......

  • This is such a DEEP song. Those lyrics make U THINK about Life and Love and how much time we all waste on stuff that doesn't mean a damn thing, overall.

I've always loved this song from Phyllis.

  • Such a Great track,Phyllis really complements the incredible arrangments!!.

also the final photo you used is one I have never seem before, and it's so beautiful!

    Thanks for a great post!

  • I love her music but it makes me sad. To think that she ended it because she was lonely. I wish I could have been there for her. I don't ever remember crying for any celebrity but I did for her.

  • luv Phyllis Hyman - Lovin' You Losin' You...

  • she was great

  • As a young man I tought Phillis was the finest and most talanted Lady to walk this earth. I was lucky to see her live with Grover Wasington. Truth be told I don't remember a thing that night about Grover.

But there's nothing I've forgotten about the wonderful Ms. Phillis. R.I.P PEACE

  • the l8 gr8 PH...what more can one say?

  • I wonder how the people of The Boondocks found this great song

  • do you hear the beginning of this track...this is music...this by far my favorite track of hers...incredible...

  • My love and passion for Sister Phyliss was reignited by teh Unsung documentary on her short but incredible life. Sometimes you wonder withsuch genius comes such pain. I LOVE LOVE this sond, and the intro is jus to die for. She was incredible and truly Unsung, Unappreciated, Uncelebrated, and Unfair how she was treated sometimes. So, now she is there in heaven, sangin' with Donnie, Michael, Luther, Minnie, Gerald, The duke.. hey even Elvis!!!!

  • serendipity, i could say. she sparked a seperate passion in me at this moment.

  • I have loved Phyllis Hyman, since I was14 yrs old, and I was born in the 60's, this song, my favorite. I grew up with LPs, and I loved the intro on this song. I would start the song over and over, that is how bad, the arrangement was. Just listen, really listen, to the entire arrangement of this song. The song should have gotten a grammy. I am so grateful to have grown up, in a time, when true songs were made and sung. Finally, check out her ad-libs, no-one in this generation even comes close!

  • 3:30, My favorite picture of Ms. Hyman. Absolutely GORGEOUS!

  • wow if it weren't for the boondocks i would of never heard this great song

  • there was a documentary on her sunday nite on tv1, when she was @ buddah arista took over & to me it seems like clive davis was trying to control her in a way.

  • Phyllis Hyman has a voice that is like no other, there is a meaning in her voice. This song has so much meaning, listen closely. Love everything she did, but this one is and always be special. Someone said earlier, she was overlooked.

    Amazon

  • Wasn't this her first record?

  • No, her first record was released in 1975 and it's entiled "Leaving The Good Life Behind."

  • I was a puupy when I first heard this song shortly after its release and I AM a Phyliss Hyman fan with my last breath. The orchestrations, arrangements and lyrics were unlike anything that I had evef heard.

    Thank you for the posting,

  • Overlooked....sadly.

  • The instrumental at the beginning rocks!!!

  • from the incomparable Thom Bell of PIR

  • I fell her on this song so much. She's was a beautiful person. I get depressed like this and these songs express a lot what I'm going through! Met this guy and I love him very much, but I think I've lost him. I'm feeling this song.

  • PHYLLIS, YOU ARE SUPREME.

  • were supreme!!! were

  • Thanks for this post. I'm actually on the 5th chapter of the book 'Strength of a Woman'. It has been very interesting...

  • The end of the history could be sad, but she gaves us a treasure forever.

  • @d1theresa I looked on Amazon.com and that book is $150 for a paperback.

  • Thanks - waited to hear that again for years. Thanks also for the info.
