@Worldpeacekid Although I agree on the part about Megalodon fanboys I just thought I'd point out that there is actually evidence that megalodon did in fact hunt and eat the Brygmo whales. There have been several fossils found from Brygmos with megalodon teeth marks in them. In the end I dont see why people would care of who was "the best bad ass". I mean, there could be bigger things we dont know about. And dont forget the Mosasaur and predator X. With insanly big jaws

Reptiles today all need to go to the surface to breath, you are not wrong on that part. However, you are making the assumption that these animals smell from the same organ and in the same way they breathe (like us humans). For ex. snakes and varans. They breathe with their tongue, so they dont need to inhale whatever it is they are trying to smell

@HybodusStudios To get back to the liopleurodons. All sea animals take in water in their mouth and stomach all the time. Liopleurodon was no exception from this. This animal not only took in water when it ate but also when swiming (mouth slighetly open). So in their mouth / throat etc. they (like many other animals) have receptors to pick up scent particles that is interpeted. In short they simply had their smell receptors seperated from their air (lungs) in take.

@HybodusStudios ok A it is very easy for a reptile to smell underwater take a look at the crocodilains for example they have sensors all across their head so a crocodilian like a crocodile or Aligator can smell and taste their prey before they see it , so we can relay this to the Mososaur also we can look at it's land reptile family the monitor lizards and also snakes , Mososaurs were also shown to swim like a snake and like they say in the film they had tounges like them and the kimodo dragon
