Now thousands of people are out of jobs because the EU banned seal pelt imports. Is the livelihood of thousands of people really worth protecting a thriving species of seal? People's collage educations, mortgages and home heating bills are going unpaid, are the seals worth that much to you?
On the other hand there are dozens of endangered species of fish that no one ever stands up to protect, because they aren't cute
@Duo11 Believe me, many people, including myself, do stand up for fish and other so-called "uncute" animals. (I'm actually vegan - meaning I do not consume anything derived from animals or wear/use animals.) So yes, you bring up a valid point in that not enough people care about fish and farmed animals. I wish they did!
Comparing a seal's life to a human's is not right. No one should have to die for "fashion" - not seals, not people, not anyone. That's my way of thinking about it.

@jakeharrop779 You dont have to go completely vegetarian or vegan to help animals. Just choose vegetarian meals when you can! It's that easy! :) Going meat-free one or two days a week makes a big difference in the lives of animals... or giving up just one or two meats such as beef or pork, instead of all meats (like chicken, which you said you enjoy) can also help. Plus, check out tasty meat-free options like veggie burgers, 'soy hot dogs' and more :DD

There are many types of delicious protein that don't involve animals such as nuts, beans, soymilk/milk, eggs (if you choose to eat them) tofu, even bagels, and oatmeal! You might want to contact a nutritionist, instead of a typical medical doctor, who might not specialize in diets for teens :)
Then again, if you're not ready to go veg now, you can always try again later -- and just eating less meat in general, when you get a chance, is always a good step!

As a matter of fact, I'd bet that most people don't even know how much B12, protein, iron, etc they are getting per day. I do. I was raised by strict, health-crazy parents and was required to do a lot of research about vegetarianism for me to become one years ago. I still follow those bits of research.
I dont know what upsets me more, the fact that this is still happening or the fact that you can inform people about this disgusting slaughter of baby seals, show them the horrific images and upsetting video and they still dont care.
The Canadian government has proven beyond a doubt that they will not give up this slaughter unless they absolutely have to.
I personally believe if there was no viable economical reason to continue to slaughter baby seals they would just go out and do it simply to spite all the compassionate hearts of this world, and people like us, who see beyond a claimed industry, heritage or cultural right with no justification, and see a defenseless baby animal who wants the same thing we all do and thats too live a life free without tyranny or oppression.
Its a disgusting and merciless slaughter of innocent and new life and has to stop, its done irreversible damage to the fragile north atlantic eco system and its the epitome of all animal cruelty, because any group of anthropocentric authorities and individuals who can take such pride in killing and defending such a cruel barbaric and unnecessary slaughter of defenseless baby animals, is something millions of compassionate people all around the world just cannot understand, especially me.

Their calves are ripped from them within hours of birth so that all the milk can be harvested for people - instead of for the baby cow. The male calves are sent off to be used as veal and females are grown to be used the same as their mothers. All cows - dairy, veal or beef - are slaughtered in a few short years anyway.
How appalling, what a disgrace, that ppl could actually do something this horrible to these beautiful, innocent creatures. Lets get the word out to everyone about this inhumane, disgusting event, and whatever we can do to help!!! Save the seals!!!!!!!!

The tag should say what type of fur it is in 99% of cases. However, no type of fur is a good type of fur. (All fur hunts and fur farms are cruel to the animals!)
Most seal fur is sold in Norway, Germany and Finland. It is *rarely* sold in the United States or Canada -- although I'm sure it happens.
Oh my gosh! Poor seals. I'm a vegetarian with fish too and I don't shop at any of those stores either, so I'm good. I sent this video to all my friends, hope it helps.

What does that have to do with being vegetarian?
They're being killed for their fur mostly, not their meat.
Fur is an unnecessary luxury, especially when you have synthetic fur available.
Eating other animals is OK, that's the way of nature- polar bears eat seals and walruses all the time.
The main difference is that humans have a higher success rate at catching prey, while polar bears have only about 10%
Not eating meat will force you to take supplements and vitamins, which are expensive.

Regardless, you do not have to take supplements to be a vegetarian or even a vegan. Most people don't.
