She built over 30 hospitals and established one of the biggest charitable enterprises in human history, that distributed food, clothing, medicine and money to the needy. The people of Argentina loved her for all that she done. Who cares if she was doing it for her own benefit, I'd like to see you do something that impressive.

Listen to the emotions in her highs and lows, her dynamics, the way she divides her phrases. I can't but take notice, listen + feel it. The worst mistake every other singer does is sing the title line words all on beat (dont-cry-for-me-argentina). Ridiculous. A singer must sing like they speak. Do you speak that way? Listen, instead, to how Covington does it. PERFECT.
(continued). Covington may not have the strong pipes, but the way she delivers the lyrics is AMAZING. What is the purpose of singing anyway? It's to really think of what you're saying, feel it, become it and deliver it so you "connect" with the audience and "turn them on", so to speak. I have never been a fan of LuPone, all she does is sing unevenly, mis-phrase her words and "belt" every now and then to impress the public. Sorry, Patti fans.
No offense but for those of you that think LuPone/Carpenter do the best version of this song, you are a bit lacking in knowledge of singing, especially for musicals. I agree with Whizart, Covington HANDS DOWN delivers this song the best of all. You are all focusing on voice, not phrasing or delivery which is SO important in this song. Evita is speaking to the public, period, and the singer should not forget that but they all seem to do so.

Andrew Lloyd Webber had a lot to say on the singers chosen for the album. Karen Carpenter recorded it later and Patti's broadway voice was consider the best for the stage show.
This version of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" is done by a British singer named Julie Covington. Who is the original first singer of this song. When Andrew Lloyd Webber produced the Rock Opera Record album back in the 1970's. She performed on the album. All the parts of Evita. Her version of this song was the first release heard by the public. I personally feel she did the best version of this song.

@whizart Excellent, whizart, for bringing this to people's attention. I was living in Italy when this album was released and we all went crazy. Evita did not go to stage immediately. It was a unique case for Webber/Rice. First they released the album aforementioned {titled "Evita: An Opera Based on the Life of Evita Peron", etc.}. It sold all over Europe and then they took it to the stage (in UK + US). Covington only sang the album, she turned down the musical due to schedule conflicts.

She built over 30 hospitals and established one of the biggest charitable enterprises in human history, that distributed food, clothing, medicine and money to the needy. Listen to the emotions in her highs and lows, her dynamics, the way she divides her phrases. I can't but take notice, listen + feel it. (continued). Covington may not have the strong pipes, but the way she delivers the lyrics is AMAZING. What is the purpose of singing anyway? It's to really think of what you're saying, feel it, become it and deliver it so you "connect" with the audience and "turn them on", so to speak. I have never been a fan of LuPone, all she does is sing unevenly, mis-phrase her words and "belt" every now and then to impress the public. Sorry, Patti fans.

No offense but for those of you that think LuPone/Carpenter do the best version of this song, you are a bit lacking in knowledge of singing, especially for musicals. I agree with Whizart, Covington HANDS DOWN delivers this song the best of all. You are all focusing on voice, not phrasing or delivery which is SO important in this song. Evita is speaking to the public, period, and the singer should not forget that but they all seem to do so.

When Andrew Lloyd Webber produced the Rock Opera Record album back in the 1970's. She performed on the album. All the parts of Evita. Her version of this song was the first release heard by the public. I personally feel she did the best version of this song.

@whizart Excellent, whizart, for bringing this to people's attention. I was living in Italy when this album was released and we all went crazy. Evita did not go to stage immediately. It was a unique case for Webber/Rice. First they released the album aforementioned {titled "Evita: An Opera Based on the Life of Evita Peron", etc.}. It sold all over Europe and then they took it to the stage (in UK + US). Covington only sang the album, she turned down the musical due to schedule conflicts.

He inherited a disaster. 2. The GOP has only obstructed his every move. 3. There are so many positions in the Government that have not been filled because the GOP will not confirm any of his nominations. La gente, el ritmo de vida, los negocios, restaurantes, todo. Al vivir en USA uno tiene la oportunidad de conocer a otros latinos.
