Wow! I was 12 when I got this box set when it originally came out. My brother got it for me for Christmas that year and I was so freaking happy. I was completely obsessed with Smashing Pumpkins, and this era was pure musical genius! There's so many outstanding songs in that box set... for Pumpkins, 1996 and prior was just magical!!!!

i was only a little kid when mellon collie came out but i still remember listening to the songs on the radio alot...sort of like a soundtrack to my early years. there were alot of bad times but hearing mellon collie just reminds me of all the good ones.

billy's music is awesome. i just wish the lyrics were more poppy and memorable on all his songs. i can never remember the lyrics to any of his songs, its all just like hashed 2gether. that's the one aspect of his rock that's always been missing. Not saying he's not a poet, everyone is in there own way, but to be honest, his words have never meant anything to me, and yet s.p. is in my top 3 musical acts of all time (w/ u2 and bob marley).

However Pumpkin's lyrics have depth and don't necessarily have to rhyme, so they aren't poppy. And that's why they're awesome.
