Stupid Piloting.. he should have shut the engine off and evacuate.. he didnt take into account about the viscosity of the sea water which pulls the helicopter with additional force. simply couldn't overcome that. pilots make errors as they are human beings, but pilots are more intelligent, decisive, and quick as they are considered. so must be able to think and act in a logical manner in difficult situations..

Well the reason why the helicopter crashed into the water at first was engine failure, afterwords he tried to start it but it didn't work out well and the helicopter rolled over, at least thats what the narrator says..

It had to be loss of power, as it goes down between 0:05-0:10 check out the rotor flex, it means as he lost altitude he just yanked up on the cyclic as quick as he could for max lift but it still went down so must've been an engine/transmission failure.
