@zerocalvin yep the super soldier serium turns you into hulk, the gamma bomb project turns you into dr. manhattain, and everyone is as powerful as captain america at birth. Is that overpowered? Just a little
In my opinion this episode wants to show us that the ones with super powers arent the only ones that can be heroes. What makes a hero is the courage to stand in front of the bad guys and do the right thing for those who love and for all the people who need your help.
@TheWaffle106 there isn't much options when it comes to super heroes or villains, there are many ideas that are congruent between DC and marvel. WW2 experiments is widely covered in comics, and serums are one of the many arbitrary ways to create a superhero/villain. Solomon grundy is also a Hulk "clone" but actually grundy first appeared in 1944 and the Hulk in 1962, but still you can't call it a "clone". and there wil always be someone in a hi-tech suit, just like an evil general
@TheWaffle106 Oh you... Marvel and DC have alot of heroes in common. Some of which were first from DC, and others first from Marvel. When both companies have a hundred heroes each, there's bound to be overlaps.
He's like the original Hulk who was grey, not green, and his powers were described as those of the original Superman in Action Comics, but that comic book was in color.
Few things struck me bout this episode. I can't believe the voice on that monster... How did Marvel let them get away with ripping off iron man like that? This has to be the most anti-climactic morally flagellating battle I've seen in awhile...I think this is the first episode where I actually had any idea who the cowboy and knight were!
This was one of my favorite episodes because not only did it pay homeage to those heros without superpowers (and the lesser well known justice league members) but it showed that you DON'T need superpowers to be a true hero. :')
That old Black lady reminds me of this woman in a Superman comic. She believed Superman was an angel, and that she could call him down with prayer. It worked, to some degree, since he had super hearing.
i have never seen so many marvel references. The Hulk, General Thunderbolt Ross, Thor, Hawkeye(i know thats pushing it since green arrow is more cooler") , Ironman.
not going to lie if batman was helping the heroes the general would be totally fucked... bat man has beat the likes of clayface, soloman grundy, bane, ivy and mr freeze, hell the was the only person who dodged the omega beam. compared to those odds, Eling is just another foe to bats
0:51 "No need to thank me son. I just watched you and the other guys getting pummeld to death for half an hour before stating what everybody else already did before."
@thejohhny69 - it only shows that even superheroes get beaten badly every once in a while. Even Batman gets the same treatment if he would be beaten up as badly as these guys. Superman actually died once against Apocalypse who had actually beaten up other superheroes in his way.
The Justice League and other heroes like them know that they are not invincible, just tough.
What I love is the fact that all these great heroes are so overlooked, yet despite their power or lack thereof, they keep fighting. They give hope and demonstrate courage that surpasses Superman, and take risks beyond Hawkgirl, and do their best even when they are not as smart or stealthy as Batman
@ace94d Truely. I rather enjoy the Irony... especially that they pointed it out to him. The "Monster" is canonly known as the Shaggy Man, by the way. This happens in the comics too. As far as I can tell, he's like General Ross as the Hulk 24/7
I have to agree with him though. Those no name superheroes really are nothing compared to the ones with actual superpowers, i.e Superman, Green Lantern, Flash etc. If the Justice League ever decided to turn on the people they're supposed to protect, then nothing could stop them.
@nightschoolweirnfan Superman could simply toss Luthor into the sun or destory the entire planet he's on. Same goes for Batman. Sinestro is a super powered being. The point is that if the JL ever decided to go evil, nothing would stop them. Superman alone can destory entire planets.
@Quartzzzz what about umm that nuke suit guy mesomorph most def he turned his hand into kryptonite yeah they would decimate but there are heros just stronger than them so if they can kill them then they win plus you have amazo and marvel and doomsday. superman yes he can destroy planets but he wouldnt go far a lot of things can kill him
@Quartzzzz This episode shows that real heroes don't necessarily need superpowers to defend others. All it really takes is an iron will, great levels of endurance and a noble heart
@sadlobster1 All I saw was a super powered being beating all the non powered heroes to a pulp. Had he been truly evil, he would have killed them all along with the civilians. The only reason Eiling didn't finish the Shining Knight and all the rest was because he accepted that he was a hypocrite. Ironically, Eilings point was still proven - you need superpowers in order to take on a superpowered being and win.
@Quartzzzz I actually think they've (mostly Shining Knight) actually succeeded here. At least, in a symbolic sense.
During the parade, the people seemed interested to see only Superman. But because of Eiling's douchebaggery, the Seven Soldiers risking themselves to save everyone and Shining Knight refusing to give into defeat (even after receiving several injuries;) they saw just how capable non-superpowered heroes can be
@Quartzzzz Keep in mind though he just randomly popped out of the sky and assaulted them out of nowhere. It was harder for them because they had to see to evacuating the area and all that but more importantly the guy with the sword which already did successful cut him was busy half the time and by the time he was helping everyone else was KO'd. All in all I agree with captianbrazil, if batman WAS there they probably could have won
I get the monster's point. They are not americans, they dont pay taxes, they have super powers and do whatever they can. Only few are real citizens, but even then, when was the last time green lantern filed his income tax? With all that powers, have you ever saw an any episode of anyone building houses for the poor? Have you ever saw wonder woman on any breast cancer campaign? where are there green cards?
@RonaldBarone Don't forget that this guy was demoted in his career with Cadmus so he felt a bit insignificant. Plus if you ask me, he was a bit of a overly patriotic war monger who felt threatened by the Justice League because of special treatment they got from the President like being able to have a base on Earth. That was no reason for him to take the law into his own hands the way he did. Oh, and how do you know they don't contribute to society?
@RonaldBarone Ordinary people can build houses for the power and work on charity campaigns. What ordinary people can't do is stop Darkseid from blowing up the universe. Efficient and appropriate distribution of resources, it's only logical.
@RonaldBarone Most of the members of the Justice League are American citizens and pay their taxes but they don't show that part. There was also an episode where Wonder Woman was petitioning the world's leaders to convert to green energy sources to stop global warming.
@TheThreeHeadedDragon How do you know they are all American citizens? Where is superman's green card? Do you have the last The Martian man tax return?
@RonaldBarone Wally West, Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, Oliver Queen, Vic Sage, John Stewart, and J'onn Jones are just a few examples of characters whose secret identities are American citizens. Most of them are goody two-shoes so they probably do their taxes.
this episode was a microcosm of why this show was so great. it made even the less popular heroes seem totally awesome. see the Booster Gold episode, characters like The Question, Hawkgirl and Hawkman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Huntress, Zatanna, Vixen, etc the list goes on, they really did a great job of taking the less popular heroes and making them either more badass or just more interesting
@captianbrazil If he were there, the Justice League would've won and the general wouldn't have learned his lesson. He'd have become a full time supervillain because of his hurt ego.
Cool episode. see i like regular heroes too. Like how Batman goes up against super power villains - so do these so called b-list heroes with no powers. They risk their lives just like superman and the others do and do it the best they can.
Also the General is an idiot - he protects by possibly killing anyone who needs protecting - a few eggs for the omlet of freedom is BS!
@AllAksion The General kind of reminded me of Col. Jessup from A Few Good Men. Both men have committed heinous acts simply because they felt they were doing it for the good of the military corp. or the country.
I myself feel that the safety and well-being of the people are far more important than power, wealth and military strength. It's SIr Justin and citizens like the elderly woman who protected him who show me what being a hero TRULY means
Um why didn't anyone think to get Amazo I mean cmon the guy gets almost no work, if that many members are out on the job you know amazo has nothing to do with it because he could easily do their job so my question is why didn't anyone get Amazo
@cowsfromspace A Super slug fest wasn't really the point of the story. It was the Irony of a metahuman beating the crap out of 'normal' people when his stated goal is to protect normal people from Metahumans. He lost sight of what he set out do and became the threat himself.
@cowsfromspace Considering that Amazo knocked out the entire Justice League, swatted the Green Lantern Corps like flies, shifted an entire planet of Oa into another dimension just because it was in his path... I really doubt that General would've lasted even a second against Amazo. I doubt there would be a fight at all...
His beef is with Metahumans, not God-like beings...
nice little shout out to the b listers, probs what makes DC when it comes to the cartoon game a whole lot better, i just wish they could do what marvel is doing with their cinematic universe, great batman films aren't enough
Thought you might like to know that, sounds like you didn't.... oh, if you haven't heard of young justice you should go look it up. I'm waiting on the second season.

@captianbrazil If he were there, the Justice League would've won and the general wouldn't have learned his lesson. He'd have become a full time supervillain because of his hurt ego.

Ever notice how similer this episode is to Marvel? i mean just hear me out:
Stargirl's costume is patriotic, like Captain America
The bad guy in this episode was like the Hulk
STRYFE is like Iron Man
the whole idea of a country's government being AGAINST heroes rather than being with them is kind of like marvel
anyone see this?
TomboTime 6 months ago
@TomboTime Yup! I hear you there!
That's how it always has been DC get's smilarities form/with Marvel, Marvel get's em' from/with DC
That's what makes their rivalery...
alien2906 5 months ago
@alien2906 case in point:
Deathstroke and Deadpool
they are SOOO similer in fact that people wonder if they are the same people, just from different dimensions.

@TomboTime please dont bring marvel talk to a DC show, respect man.
alucardXlll 5 months ago
@alucardXlll respect?? i respect both companies perfectly well. DC for creating the superhero industry and Marvel for revolutionizing it.

AllAksion 6 months ago
@AllAksion The General kind of reminded me of Col. Jessup from A Few Good Men. Both men have committed heinous acts simply because they felt they were doing it for the good of the military corp. or the country.
I myself feel that the safety and well-being of the people are far more important than power, wealth and military strength. It's SIr Justin and citizens like the elderly woman who protected him who show me what being a hero TRULY means

why was the hulk in this episode?
benjieweiss 6 months ago
Um why didn't anyone think to get Amazo I mean cmon the guy gets almost no work, if that many members are out on the job you know amazo has nothing to do with it because he could easily do their job so my question is why didn't anyone get Amazo
cowsfromspace 6 months ago
@cowsfromspace A Super slug fest wasn't really the point of the story. It was the Irony of a metahuman beating the crap out of 'normal' people when his stated goal is to protect normal people from Metahumans. He lost sight of what he set out do and became the threat himself.
Citrakite 5 months ago
@cowsfromspace He's still trying to come up with a way to beat Solomon Grundy.
HeroOfLights 5 months ago
@cowsfromspace Considering that Amazo knocked out the entire Justice League, swatted the Green Lantern Corps like flies, shifted an entire planet of Oa into another dimension just because it was in his path... I really doubt that General would've lasted even a second against Amazo. I doubt there would be a fight at all...
His beef is with Metahumans, not God-like beings...
