  • now thats what a hockey arena should look like! :)

  • Got Harold Ballard's autograph during a leafs practice at the gardens.. Sad to see it converted to a damn grocery store : /

  • I was fortunate enough to catch a game at the Gardens in 1998. It remains my greatest experience as a hockey fan.

  • nice video.. The people of Canada just like the Forum has let money destroy one of our shrines into a debacle

  • I had the privilege of seeing a game in MLG. It was an experience I will cherish forever.

  • SHE LIVES!!

Hockey coming 2012-13! The rink is half way done, all they need to install is just the support systems for the seats, the seats themselves and the ICE!

  • The place was put outta comission because of 2000 extra seats, im sure if the leafs agree to play in SkyDome for a few seasons they could have revamped the gardens to meet curtain nhl standards.

  • GOLDZ, REDZ, GREENZ, GREYZ n BLUE BALCONEYZ, LOVE n MIZZ u sweet MAPLE LEAF GARDENZ!!!!!!! RIP, we alweyz will have r memz of u!!!!! :)

    Tanx 4 pozt'n!!!!!

  • The cheesy music kind of ruins it... Maple Leaf Gardens was a place of hard fought hockey games, where blood, sweat, and tears where spilt in the name of winning multiple Stanley Cup championships!!!

  • She was the grand lady of Toronto.Lets remember her like she was in her glory days.

  • Awesome Arena, been in there for many Leaf games!

  • @canadian49 I never attended a game at MLG without wearing a coat and tie. Major Conn Smythe wanted his "patrons" to dress up when attending a Leaf game. Look at old photos of fans. Men in suits, ladies in dresses with furs, jewels and hats. I had so much respect for the place that I always dressed up. Today's crowds in every arena dress very poorly by comparison. The Gardens really made you feel like you were in church.

  • @bulldogbarks55 I agree. I wish people still dressed in their finest at hockey games. It brought an element of class that is sorely lacking today imo. On a side note, I was lucky enough to catch 2 games in the Gardens as a kid with my dad back in the late '80s early '90s. The sense of history in that place hit you right away as you were entering the building. It's hard to describe, but that sense of mystique is priceless as far as I'm concerned.

  • @SuperStrik9 Back in the day when the leafs were still playing at Maple Leaf Gardens,I would have loved to have made a trip to Toronto to have seen a game there or even to have just gone inside the door of it.The Air Canada Centre would be nowhere near the same as it's just another example of corporate greed.

  • I am a Boston Bruins fan and have been my whole life but I really think they should have never knocked that beautiful building down.....MAPLE LEAF GARDENS WAS THE NHL!!!

  • @44sox44 as a Bruins fan myself I agree the Maple Leaf Garden was beautiful

  • @44sox44 Unlike your Baahston Gaahden Maple Leaf Gardens has NOT been torn down. The building is considered a historical landmark and will continue to stand. It is being retro-fitted as an athletic center for Ryerson University and will also house a Loblaws food store and retail shops and is supposed to be ready sometime in 2012.

  • I wish Detroit was this passionate about their old sports arenas. Red Wings played in Olympia, then move and tear it down. Now they want to move out of Joe Louis and tear it down after only 30 years. Awesome song and video. Nice Job. Original Six for life!

  • bring the leafs back to the gardens..we love the gardens

  • Move the Hockey Hall of Fame there..

  • @robphilll22 reyerson(sp) is going to play there.........AND HELL no hhof STAYS in the building it's in right now! it looks like a cathedral

  • @theproducerspart2

Yea man. Thats exactly how i feel about the forum

  • It maybe old but as a life long hockey fan this arena is apart of NHL history and it should always stand. These historical landmarks are part of who we are as fans. I would love to see maple leafs gardens be used again!

  • so long good ol lady may you rise from the ashes on your second life around atleast you have not died in vain you will always be remembered always be cherished for what you once were so long so long

  • The ghosts of Maple Leaf Gardens will echo forever, the chant "Go Leafs Go", will as well......This building was the greatest building to watch HNIC from , alwways and forever. Janelle has an extremely great voice, goosebumps the whole song...Cheers....Long Live Maple Leaf Gardens.........

  • What song is this? Who sings this? Its powerful and beautiful at the sametime.

  • @thebig1. This song is called AMAZING & is sung by JANELLE.

  • I saw a 1934 photo of Maple Leaf Gardens when the surrounding area seemed to be nothing but houses. That's the type of Toronto I would better relate to, those days when Gregory Clark still wrote those funny little stories for the newspapers. When people actually hung laundry on the clothesline and life was generally simpler.

  • Sorry folks, she's goin' down next year

  • @ottvalley

Are they really tearing it down?

  • should be interesting to see what loblaws does with it now since they can't do the renovations that they wanted to do

  • KEEP THE PLACE aand hold events there the toronto marlies could play there, the place is suitable to hold us college hoops games there, plus numerous other events, to level it would be terrible.

  • Yeah i totally agree wit you. The building is still in great condition & could very well be used for many years to come.

To level such a historic & beautiful building like this would be unthinkable & would cause outrage in T.O. so i don`t think it will ever be levelled, but you never know.

  • @azbaldy5 it cant be demolished because its a historical building

  • heard they selling it to ryerson university

  • is this updated as of now

  • Yes it is. Up 2 date pics.
