In some ways yes, in some ways no. Though they are part of the same genre (RTS) they are two very different games so it's quite silly to compare them in a competition of sorts. It all falls down to personal preference of each games style, not an actual criticism of their quality. You should consult Metacritic if you want to do that.

See they fucked with the dow experiace in dow 2 to the point to where its TOO squad based random units hiding behind cover and stuff. where-as Dawn of war 1 is an rts whereas no one is the good or bad guy and there are twice as many races then in dawn of war 2 the races that arent in there are Tou(Anime knock off) , imperial guard(the emperors army), dark eldar, sisters of battle (Realy religious female group), Chaos (which can be played without an expansion mind you) nechrons (Zombie robots).

simple, this battle that you see here begins if the avatar has low enough hp and the Librarian kills him, but before that this animation begins witch is called a synetic kill, the same thing happens to most units in melee combat but some of the most epic ones are like Bloodthirster vs Avatar or Blood vs Force Commander.

Simple: The Librarian passed a Psycic test, used his force weapon on the Avatar managing a lucky 6 to wound...then the Avatar failed his 3+ armor save. Hence the Avatar lost all his wounds instantly! :p
