  • whats the point of the big stone thing.

    shouldnt it be a deity?

  • @topbluffa1, God is formless, but God can be worshipped with forms also in Hinduism, depending upon one's level of understanding of God. Here God is shown in a formless form! As you may be aware, God who is known by many names, is worshipped in this formless form, called Shiva or Shivalinga or Shivalingam.

  • but why a stone... nvm,

  • @topbluffa1 ; The Lingam that you see represents the deity Shiva only and NOTHING ELSE: And you are seeing only the top portion of the deity. if possible you search the net and see the full form of Shivalingam;

    I have seen, in Islam, in Tamil nadu india, the number "786": What significance it has got I dont know: but I understand it is associated with God as far as they are concerned and I respect that.

  • Can anyone explain to me what abhishekam is? Whats the different abhishekam and pooja?

  • Puja is formal worship, and abhishekam is one of many forms of puja, therefore.

    Abhishekam is simply bathing and sprinkling the deity or sacred object with sacred substances. Things used are water, honey, yoghurt, turmeric powder, a paste made with sandal wood shavings, etc.

  • OM NAMAHSIVAYA

  • om namah shivaya

  • Om Namah Sivayah ..Sivayah Namah Om

  • This would be so cool to paint to.
