why is music from the 70s so much better than "modern" music. i meen theres more soul in the music from the 70s. music now sounds plastic, if i can say so. i have grown up with music like apsolute music vol 10 etc, but its crap.
And all those arguments below, are the reasons why 'the wall' was one of the most controversial albums created and one of the best in my personal opinion.
Dove symbolizes the promise of peace turned into the machine of war. Hitler was known to have used religious icons (people) to cause dissolution of his agenda weather direct or indirect to the public. The flying crosses seen in this animation could possibly represent that "going with the Dove to Plane metamorphosis Theme.
I have always considered this song to be chilling metaphor elapsing the bombings across the cities of England during World War II by the Germans and how difficult it was to restore any kind of mental and spiritual balance to it's People. This is a very dear song to me.
This is so cynical. I don't know what is worse: the awful deeds that have been done, and are been done,or the way we deal with those deeds. Sometimes the core of Christianity appeals to me, how hard it seams to be
its not my fav or awesome, it is an insult to british and americans, french, all who died as a result of fascist germany. They were brave, and heros, not sheep. This if you look, is an insult. I was a floyd fan, biggest fan, I have heard this before and wondered. Now I am convinced it is no good. The British flag did not disintegrate, in the opposite, it stood strong and defeated the swastika. This a weird video, I saw the movei a couple times, it is impressive, but not true.
i can explain it to you all, the dove symbolizes peace and hope, and the black bird symbolizes death, and i guess evilness to the people, its telling about the cruelness not only of World war to but the world and how sick it is
They were jews hiding from the nazis and bombs...i think im not so sure. Because they were hiding in the tunnel. Watch pink floyd: The wall. You will understand alot of their songs :]
They are British hiding from bombs from the Nazi Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain during World War Two. The coat of arms for Germany is a black eagle, hence the metallic eagle. You can see London Bridge at 0:46. The British flag falls apart and becomes a bloody St. George's cross. I am not sure what the message is there. Maybe it is a return to militancy.
@Bandaidification It might be the same thing in nature but it's not the same when people are referring to it. Most people know that a Dove represents peace but they'd not use the word Pigeon because it doesn't translate as well. Anyway, who the fuck goes through three years of comments just to call someone stupid? Blow me.
I first watched this movie when I was 15 and saw/rented it a few more times afterwards. :) This is one of my fave songs. Sort of gloomy and disturbing it's a classic! those famous marching hammers are just so darn cool!
This is the perfect song to listen on December 21st 2012. I am not a believer of the apocalypse but still!

The whole in my opinion is a new world order song.
"Did you ever wonder
Why we had to run for shelter
When the promise of a brave
new world
Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky"
Pink Floyd probably read Brave New World or 1984 and wrote a song about it lol

isn`t it about the battle for England... Still, you can interpret it in other ways...
FreemanPK 2 years ago
I'm not talking about a battle for England, I'm talking about a future dystopian world. Look into New World Order or read those two books I said.

the black eagle is like a symbol of the nazis or something. but yes, it is creepy.
Jangles1969 4 years ago
It is not a white Pigeon, it is a Dove, the symbol of peace.
